Granite Grind is perhaps the best coffee house and restaurant in Lancaster. The food is great and creative. You can get a wonderful breakfast from a nice range of choices and stay for lunch if time permits. Friendly staff and the owner is a great addition to our small community. Be sure to try the Washington Omelette if you arrive for breakfast. It is truly the best in town (and miles around). The rye bread is pretty good, too. You will be offered an array of wonderful coffee to compliment your meal whether it is breakfast or lunch. Really good coffee is permissible with lunch. read more

Stopped in today for a post hike snack. Had the Pumpkin/Maple latte and it may be the beat latte I've ever had. Not too sweet! We also got the half and half, half sandwich and a cup of soup, large portions enough for two hungry adults to share. The soup was ham, veggie and tortellini and perfectly warmed us up. This place is insanely good! Homemade food and charm. The staff was super friendly and welcoming. The menu is not huge but what is offered has something for everyone and is more than enough. The place is very clean with nice spaced out tables both large and small. I will definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for that meal that kickstarts your day. My mom and I stopped in for our coffee fix on our way to Vermont for the day. We both tried the Pumpkin Maple Latte. I got mine with almond milk and she had hers with whole milk. The espresso was smooth and the syrup, which is all made in house, was the perfect balance of sweetness. It was one of the best lattes I have had! The staff was very friendly and helpful. We are from the west coast and very unfamiliar with the area. They gave us places to visit and recommendations while they made our coffee. Very great atmosphere and their food menu looked amazing! While vacationing in New Hampshire, I had the chance to explore some small, rural towns in Lancaster and Littleton. Although this little coffee shop is in "the middle of no where", it is a charming little gem with some great healthy options. My boyfriend and I went around 1 pm on a Monday, and it was pretty busy! It is a very calming, friendly atmosphere with tables and views of the town. The menus are all written on chalk board and are very useful in explaining what's in all of the food options. There are lattes, coffees, espresso, cappuccino, flat whites, and more tastey creations to drink. All of their strip flavors are made in house! The food menu itself is very limited, but options are healthy and organic. Options include sandwiches, wraps, soups, a salad, and a few other savory/sweet treats. I didn't order any food, but I'm looking forward to trying their BLT! All staff members were friendly and attentive. Give this place a try! read more

Get here early! I and two other people travelled here right before lunch closed and discovered that nearly all food was sold out, including anything vegan or vegetarian. One person was able to get the ham quiche and loved it, definitely five stars. One person got an excellent coffee drink while I had to go elsewhere to get a vegetarian offering. The five stars is also for a peanut butter chocolate dessert that is excellent. (Unfortunately I ended up across the street with expensive salads that were just a head of romaine, had to be tossed out, while the veggie grinder was very small.) I was impressed that the manager came out to talk to the people in my group, apologizing about the lack of vegetarian and vegan food, promising some great vegan and vegetarian offerings when we returned. This place clearly has the best food in town and is immensely popular. Just get there early before the food sells out. I could have have had black bean sweet potato tacos on Taco Tuesday had the food not run out. (There are also blueberry muffins but those sold out as well, along with nearly all the baked goods.) Also I really appreciated the ginger root beer (nonalcoholic) and blueberry soda, both excellent. We will definitely visit this wonderful cafe whenever we are in the Lancaster, NH area. The staff was wonderful, and the manager outstanding in addressing customer concerns, including those of vegetarian and vegan customers. They are a small sit in dinner/luncheon café that will cook you the best omelets with homemade bread (regular or gluten free) along with a side of your choosing if you want, and the juice/creamer for coffee is by the ordering door. Lunch meals are also great as well as healthy! Whether you want salad, bourbon sandwich, burritos, of course vegan specialties. 100% worth it! This place is super cute and has wicked good food! Unfortunately I didn't snap any pics because we were so hungry but when they have the red flannel hash on the special - get it! With that being said we had - a vanilla latte, regular coffee both of which were really good, the red flannel hash, the healthy prospect and one chocolate chip pancake. All were so good! The hash was amazing for sure! The, who I suspect to be the owner, also came over & chatted with us for a bit and told us her potential next special is going to be a play on red flannel hash but vegetarian so with sweet potatoes instead of meat! I was not very impressed with this establishment. I waited 35 minutes for one breakfast sandwich and there was only one other table in the restaurant. The sandwich was ok; the homemade bread was very delicious but it only had one single slice of bacon on it. I go the pumpkin maple latte as well which was just average. A couple times a year my husband and I spend time at a seasonal camp in the mountains outside of Lancaster, NH. A coffee and baked good lover through and through, I make a point to go into the Granite Grind whenever I am in the town. The coffee is rich and robust, but not bitter, and the baked goods are all excellent. My favorite is the "Snicker-in-the-Notch" with the date and raspberry "Granite Slabs" as close second favorites. The items are aptly named, and the portions are large, meals in and of themselves. Typically I stop in for a coffee and a "Granite Slab" to go on my way to some trailhead. Once or twice I stayed and ordered breakfast. I had the "Healthy Prospect". Again, a great name that is both an accurate description of this nutritious entree and a play on local geography, Mt. Prospect. The portion was mountain-sized too, and everything, including the homemade bread, was delicious. To top it off, the shop itself is a cozy environment conveniently located on Main Street, and the workers are all very friendly. The proprietors make a point to talk to the customers, and, while I'm only in town two or three times a year, they have always recognized me and welcomed me back.
