Not the cheapest but a trip to SDC isn't complete without a trip to Clara Belle's! There aren't many tables inside so most people just grab forks and napkins and head over to the Rivertown Smokehouse tables or wherever you can find a spot. We usually get 1 original and 1 peach or apple or something and then split but we order them near the end of the day so we can take them home, eat supper then reheat them and relax before the sugar coma!

And healthy: whole grain, add your own lipids and coaggulent, the only thing it isn't it gluten free. So sorry about that. I have vague memories as a child going to visit this place, where they had an actual water mill and my grandpa would buy these bags of pancake mix with something called 'stone ground corn' in the mix. Well, it impregnated itself in my mind after I tasted these pancakes, and I would look forward to making the tripdown there. Thank goodness, they have an order form on the internet. But I'd still like to make the trip down there. PS- They take orders over the internet via email (check their website) and they'll just take your credit card info by phone or email. Do you colon a favor and order some pancake mix.

The students work hard making jelly and fruit cakes in this establishment. The store is located inside the college grounds and is not too difficult to find. Parking is easy and nearby. Once inside, we were immediately greeted and offered free fruit cake samples. They sell their jams and fruitcake there. The fruit cake did not disappoint. I left with a few jams and small fruit cakes. I was happy for both getting something yummy to take home and for supporting the students and college with my buys.

I meant to leave this a year ago, but getting married makes things hard to remember!…read more Last night my husband and I tried our wedding cake for the first time. We did not intend to never eat our cake, but it happened that one year ago when we got married we found ourselves pulled by a million things and never even got to eat our own cake. But, this year for our anniversary, we pulled our specially reserved small cake out of the freezer, following Carla's instructions, and it was SO DELICIOUS. I was stunned a cake could be that good one year after being made. I believe we got the pumpkin spice, cream cheese frosting, and the filling that Carla recommended. Carla herself was sweet, accessible, went above and beyond, and the cake was beautiful. This was a total wedding success. Highly recommend her. I'm not sure if she remembers our particular wedding and cake one year later, but in any case we want to thank this amazing lady who made our day special twice :)

We loved the scones and pies and chose an apple cinnamon scone and two drinks. He had a non-fat vanilla iced latte and I chose an iced vanilla chai tea. His was WAY better than mine - really delicious. I knew better but the vanilla chai was too sweet for me - extremely sweet - think Thai tea. Tasted good, but too much sugar for mid-afternoon. I didn't finish it. The gal inside was nice and they have one food special which was a chicken salad sandwich for a great price. If we hadn't already eaten I'd have tried that - I'm a sucker for a good chicken salad. Tons of pies - as expected - and excellent flavors. Limited seating inside, it's tight, probably about 4-5 tables only.
