The Glass Forge is amazing. Glassblowing is a magical craft and the artwork that Lee and his team perform/create at The Glass Forge is exceptional. We visit whenever we're in Southern Oregon and are never disappointed. Perhaps the most interesting aspect of visiting is that this is a working studio. Glass is blown almost every day and it's an engaging activity to watch. Perusing the gallery or watching new items being created is a great way to start to understand what you might like (or imagine broader possibilities than you might have walking in). If you're new to blown glass or merely curious, an entry point is their Orbs - which are amazing upgrades to any Christmas trees. Their amazing range of colors and gorgeous swirled patterns are spellbinding in the way they catch the lights on your tree. And that's only the beginning. If that's not your holiday, they have pumpkins, snowpeople and a range of other entertaining options. Beyond the holiday wares, they have a diversity of glassware ranging from beautiful wine stems and champagne flutes to chunkier highballs, daily tableware and a vast array of other vessels of every shape/size/color/pattern/wow. And then there's the artwork. This is where things get truly impressive. They have an array of vases and bowls in different shape/size/color/pattern/wow and a wider variety of broader glass artwork too diverse to describe here. These make unique, exceptional gifts that to lean into when your recipient deserves something which transcends what you might find in our homogenous world of online shopping. Custom artwork is not inexpensive, but we find the prices very reasonable for the quality of the products offered. Met up with family in Grants Pass. We decided we want to try glass blowing. Cool place, amazing people- great experience. The hardest part was selecting what color glass you wanted. There were a variety of color choices and for me the best part was loads of glass to look at to get a visual idea. We go back and we have Keegan as our instructor. He's amazing. he's very patient super knowledgeable, and parting knowledge while giving instruction. When you select your item to make be aware that some items are former complex and others. One of the members in our group made the paperweight. It was a fascinating process to watch however, it was a lot of work. I had movers break two pieces of a glass light fixture I love that was unfortunately discontinued so I couldn't order replacement pieces. I'm located in San Francisco and called all over the Bay Area looking for someone that could create replica glass pieces with no luck. We always try to do different things when we go on vacation and my son showed an interest in glass blowing so we knew this would be a place we would hit when we were in Grants Pass. We were staying at Morrison's for a few nights but stopped here on our way there to make a glass blowing appointment for the next day. They explained that after making the glass, we would have to wait a day to pick it up so my husband asked if we would be able to do it today instead. Luckily it worked out for them too so my son and my husband both made something here! I wanted to too but it was so hot there (which is to be expected of course) that I was afraid my eyelashes were gonna come off. So I had to forgo the glass blowing experiences in exchange for saving the eyelash extensions. Yes, very vain I know. But i know you other ladies reading this would do the same thing! Wink wink!! Keegan was the instructor and he was soooo patient and such a great teacher. My son had such a nice experience making his pumpkin, it turned out beautifully!!! My husband made a heart (I picked out the colors) and on the day you finish it, you really can't tell what it's gonna look like. The next day when we picked both items up tho, WOW. Wowwww. Just beautiful!!!!! What great gifts too, my son should've made a few more pieces for Christmas gifts. So any of you that live near by, this wold be a great place to get some beautiful gifts made! We are locals so when we have visitors we always recommend this place. Usually they walk you through every step and you get to do a lot of hands on of the making of the item. It usually takes about 15-20 minutes and the experience is amazing as they explain everything and show you how to do all the steps, etc. This trip our friends got jipped and I felt so bad that it was a pricey but unexciting experience. It took about 3-5 minutes, they did NOT get to chose from all the options- only the one option of a hollow circle ornament (boring). They didn't get to do anything but blow in the tube. No shaping the item, no placing it in the fire kiln, nothing. No explanation of anything. Felt completely rushed the entire time since they were back to back appointments. So disappointing!!!! We asked the gentleman about the lack of quality this time and he said they don't do "all that" on the weekends because they don't have enough staff. Well...... maybe say that prior to us making our reservation and then maybe don't charge as much. The high prices are worth it for the experience but without the full experience it just isn't worth it. SO, my suggestion is ASK THEM first what they are offering before making an appointment. If they are offering the whole experience then do it! If they are going to "short change" the experience then just pass on it- save your time and money for something else. read more

My mom and I were on a road trip tour of Oregon this last week and had stayed the night in Medford. I was looking for things to do in the area and saw The Glass Forge listed in Grants Pass so we had to check it out. I think we were there for 3 hours!! We both loved watching them work and create amazing works of art. I even created my own paperweight which was an amazing experience. Keegan was a great teacher and explained everything. My wife and I were in grants Pass for a vacation in our RV and we were looking for something fun and exciting to do so my wife called the glass Forge and we made a reservation and had the best time! They are the friendliest people . Not only did we have the ability to actually blow the glass to make our orb but we got a lot of interesting information about glassblowing the techniques the tools it was just a remarkable experience. Jason who was the person who assisted us was not only funny but had years of experience and just made our experience one of a kind! I would advise to anyone who's in grants Pass to take an hour or an hour and a half out of your day and go to the glass Forge and not only look at their beautiful glassware but also take the time to experience blowing glass for yourself and walking away with a beautiful piece of art. On a recent trip to the area we wanted to visit Glass Forge because of all the great things we had heard, seen and read about this place. It did not disappoint, and was one of the highlights of our trip for the day of our visit. What a cool working glass studio shop and retail display space. We went free styling and were not a part of a group and had a great time, watching work being made, viewing all the cool pieces in the gallery and even acquiring and new piece for our collection. This is a large working studio with display space to match, and whether you are making your own ornament from a party or group gathering, or just stopping by for a look I'm sure you will find this hip glass shop worth a visit. I brought in the globe to a hurricane lamp I've had for 50 years to see if they could fix a crack in it. It broke my heart. There was no way they could fix it so they went online with me until we found a replacement globe. It was actually a discontinued design, but they continued to look until they found one that was the same design. Fit perfectly. It was not something I expected, but they went above and beyond to help me find one. These guys are awesome! read more

Wonderful customer service. We were just visiting Grant's Pass for the morning but after having just binge watched "Blown Away" a glass blowing competition on Netflix, we were super excited to see this artform in action. Not just a cool studio to shop and buy glass pieces but a great place to try your hand at the process and artform of glass blowing. I have been going there for 5 years plus I go in there to buy Christmas gifts and I ask if they have any white bulbs in the back I get push back and then when the older lady comes back with white bulb the girl behind counter says "is this what Christmas is going to be like" I have to they are so talented but the service at front counter is horrible I felt terrible I asked I recommend not taking that feeling and maybe shop somewhere else otherwise I'd you can handle comments like that in front of you go for it product is great sorry guys I had to say what bothered me because I couldn't believe what was happening read more

Our visit to the Glass Forge was truly an amazing experience! My boyfriend and I were in the area visiting family and decided to try something a little different while we were there. Being able to select our colors and blow our own glass made for a memorable afternoon (and a pretty spiffy souvenir!) The staff we worked with (Nathan and Jason) were excellent. Jason was our primary instructor and was very easy going, patient, and knowledgeable. He's also an avid backpacker/adventurer like us, so we hit it off right away! He walked us through all the steps and explained the rationale of the methods and techniques used and answered all the many, many questions that followed. I soon got over my concern about "messing up" my mug as I became fully engaged in the experience of crafting it. We were part of the process from start to finish and I can't think of a better way to have spent our afternoon. If you don't have time to make a piece I highly recommend just stopping by and checking out the shop, it's like a full on art gallery! Here comes a long story, but bear with me. It'll worth it. First off, I love this place. We first found this place while on a road trip through Oregon. We stopped at Climate City Brewing Company. While there I saw these beautiful handcrafted beer steins on a shelf. I asked the beertender where they were made and he told me right next door at The Glass Forge Gallery & Studio. I was in love and wanted one, but it wasn't in the cards that day. Fast forward a few months to my mom's birthday. I wanted something unique and thoughtful. I called the business and described the wine glass and colors I wanted for hers. They were so helpful and they shipped a beautiful amethyst colored wine glass. She loved it. More recently, my son and I traveled to Oregon again. On our last day in town I wanted a fun and new experience for him. I remembered this business and knew they had glass blowing projects for little kids. I called and made an appointment for the following day. We arrived early and were meet by the friendliest couple of guys! Everyone was so kind, patient and welcoming. I didn't feel rushed or like I was annoying them with my many questions. This is how a business should be run. They love their job, they're personable and professional. After my son assisted with the making of his ornament, we walked into the shop area. I found a wonderfully imperfect drinking glass. It caught my eye immediately, so I snagged it up (my one and only Oregon souvenir). This was our first visit to the Glass Forge, and it definitely won't be our last! We arrived a little earlier than our appointment time, and browsed through the Gallery. I'm so glad we did that. I had planned to make an ornament, but after browsing decided to make a paperweight. Jason worked with us. He is very passionate about his craft. He was patient and a lot of fun. We both learned so much crafting our own paperweights. We had so much fun we will be making this an annual event. Everyone is super friendly. They weren't put off by our silly questions. This was a total disappointment! We had an appointment at 3:30 for our two boys to make something. We arrived at 3:00. Payed $80 for both boys to make something. (16 & 17 years old) We were the only ones there. They had us wait until 3:30. That was ok because because there was plenty to look at. I was going to buy a blue pumpkin and an orange pumpkin when the boys were done. The only thing the boys did was blow in a hose. The people working there did everything else. And they have a shop where they sell hand made and blown pieces such as vases, ornaments, chandeliers, etc. There were some amazing pieces that you could tell were made by masters of their craft.
