Not sure why the reviews are generally low here, but I thought this was a great experience, even as an adult! Entrance to the park, cafe, and gift shop are free, but any additional tours or experiences (factory tour, bee show, ginger train, etc.) are added costs. I took the Factory Tour and thought it was fun and informative - we walked through the observational area of the active Buderim Ginger Factory (watching behind glass windows) and learned about the history of ginger in Australia and how ginger is harvested, grown, and processed. The tour ended on a tasting session that used different Buderim ginger products, and I was impressed with how versatile ginger could be in daily cooking and baking. I didn't try the food here other than the Ginger Passionfruit ice cream, which was smooth and had a nice sweet hint of ginger in it. Definitely great for children and adults alike, since there isn't a huge amount of heat to it. The gift shop is impressive - they sell all types of ginger related candies, jams, sauces, and snacks, as well as a variety of other knick knacks and homeware. There are also a few smaller and more touristy shops in their "Ginger Town". Also, don't forget to take a walk around the rainforest. The trail isn't too long but nice for a stroll. read more

OK - first up, my partner and I come to the Ginger Factory about 2-3 times a year but I am basing this review on our last experience and due to this - I doubt we will be back again in a hurry. I do not know what has happened (whether management is different or staff changes) but the place seems to have a 'bad vibe' to it. The staff (this time) were very unfriendly and almost seemed depressed. We decided to have lunch there which was probably why I am not happy about the Ginger Factory now! Both my partner and I ordered the Beef and Ginger pie and chips. We asked the staff NOT to include the mushy peas as I do not like them and my partner has a small allergy to them. After about 20 minutes our order was ready and believe it or not - they included the mushy peas! We took both meals back and told them that we specifically asked them not to include them. The staf member took them back to the kitchen and the meals came out about 2 mins later. That was quick we thought! We then found out why it was so quick - the kitchen just scrapped off the mushy peas! We could tell this because there was still a lot of it on the plate. We ate what we could because we were hungry and took the rest back. My partner had words to the kitchen staff but they honestly did not care. Other than the lunch, the gardens are nice to walk through and if you like trains, there is an old train which goes around the grounds every 1/2 hour. There are about four gift shops selling all different items and the large gift shop at the front which sells a variety of ginger products and other items. read more

This is a cool, pretty stop if you're in the Sunshine Coast area. Tropical rainforest for you to walk through and learn about different ginger plants. Admission and parking is free, so it's a nice stop through. However they do offer 'rides' and tours for a fee (a little pricey in my opinion). They do have a cafe serving food, and an ice cream parlour (tip: they offer several ginger varieties - e.g. Ginger-cinnamon, ginger-chocolate, etc). I would think a place like this would produce fresh ginger beer or products, but they do not. There are a couple touristy shops for you to browse through, not including the store in the entrance. read more

This was a great experience for the whole family, good food, fantastic ginger ice cream, informative train ride which the children throughly enjoyed. Rainforest walk was refreshing and great place for the kids to burn off energy, or romantic stroll with a loved one! Cute shops and something for everyone read more

Enormous selection of ginger products which are all amazing. But today we came just for coffee and shouldn't have bothered. Coffee was lacklustre and the Orange/poppy seed muffin was like a rubber ball - may have been tasty 2 days ago when fresh but not so great today. read more

Free to enter but you have to pay if you want to do tours or go on the train etc. Beautiful garden setting with a nice cafe and icecream shop. Anything and everything to do with ginger can be found in their ginger shop. They also have a spice shop and a nut/ tea shop as well as a little shop that sells toys like teddy bears and dolls houses. The only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is because it's quite expensive to go on the tours/ train etc. they range from $8 (train adult) to $15 for the factory tours or you buy a super pass for $43 each adult, $36 per child or $165 for a family. If you can't afford all the tours, it's worth just going on the train with the kids and then walking around the beautiful gardens, maybe even play a game of checkers on their big outdoor board. read more
