Nice touch with the blankets for you to use if you get cold. Only downside is lots of chain smokers but that's at most bars. There were a couple menus but we only were here for beers (€2,50 to €5,80 range). - Tannenzäpfle (€2,50 for 0,33L) - 2x Eifeler landbier (€2,50 for 0,30L) - 2x Bolten alt (€2,50 for 0,30L) Chill, laid back spot to grab a few beers with friends.

Located (as the name suggests) right near the Dom, Domkeller offers good beer (German, Belgian as well as others) in a cozy atmosphere. For me, Domkeller embodies what a bar should be--a relaxed place where you can share a drink with friends and listen to good music (at just the right level) or have a good conversation. The music played here is fantastic and is an amazing mix that just about everyone will enjoy. They also regularly have concerts--I'm sure this place gets packed for those! Although a bit pricey (our bill came to around 12 with 2 beers and a snack) I think it's a nice enough place to enjoy a drink (skip the snack).

I had the good fortune of being the one and only patron for the first hour and I sat and talked to the owner, Pieter. This place just has that authentic Irish feel to it. I actually walked a half a mile past another Irish pub that was closer to my hotel to get to this one. Maastricht does not have as much exposure to Yelp, so I actually had to look for a recommendation on another site. That is exactly why I am reviewing this restaurant. Yelpers need to know this place! I enjoyed a Smithwick's on tap. The beer was extremely cold, and the pint was a perfect pour! However, the biggest draw for me was the fish and chips. They are absolutely delicious! The fish is a rather large piece, done right in beer batter. It is also extremely flaky and I consider this a good thing! The pub is also known to be a good place to watch European football. The TVs are hooked up to sound and broadcast in HD. Whether you're looking for a good pint, good food or just to enjoy a football game, this is your place. We've been in Irish Bars all over the world. This one is special. For one thing, it's clean. I mean *really* clean. It's really nicely furnished and decorated. The place has sort of an "upscale" ambiance, but retains the laid back feeling you expect from an Irish Pub. The food was terrific. We enjoyed large portions and the exceptional presentation. And having an ipa or triple is so special that almost all customers were requesting a gift wrap. Living in the Seattle area, I'm Spokies by hundreds of local breweries, each with 10 or more styles. I like a lager occasionally, but seeing a can of the Swiss national beer: feldschlossen embossed with "lager hell" seemed an apt description of the beer situation, as well as the style. Hopfen and malz has dozens of beers from around the world, including some from Germany. And about 6-8 on tap, with a happy hour during the week. I'm aware of craft beers in Berlin getting around the strict reinheinsgebot law by simply calling themselves something other than beer. Hoping more do so! And that we see more places like this.
