We had noted that the pub served chinese food and at first never thought of trying it as we were just out for a pint,that was until one day when feeling a bit peckish decided to try some food there ,and from then i we were hooked as it is undoubtedly the best chinese food for miles around and yet sadly still very much undiscovered.Now it may sound like i am the landlord or one of his friends trying to cheaply promote but i can assure you i am not ,just go there and try the food and you will realize the truth

I asked if they'd be open to answer the phone later and he shouted 'the pub is open all day I'm very busy' and hung up on me! So won't be dining there then. Sorry, but first impressions really matter - if you're too busy to answer the phone (the only way to book) then DON'T or implement a different method of booking tables. Don't recommend it, they were horrible and obviously too busy to be bothered.

I've been here a few times now. I'd say the chief attraction is the history of the place - finding a pub that is 100 years old is one thing, but 450 years? Wow! A stirring reminder of Abingdon's heritage in fact. The lighting, fire, beams and comfy chairs all makes this a very cosy place to spend an afternoon. The King's Head & Bell seems to be a freehouse, which is refreshing and the beer offerings are always solid, from top local brewers (think Loose Cannon and Hook). The Sunday roast is pretty good too. One hiccup was that it came without some of the vegetables advertised, but when we pointed this out the manager offered us complimentary drinks, a very generous remedy in the circumstances. Service is friendly, professional and quick too. In all, the Kings Head & Bell is a real gem in Abingdon's current pub scene.
