We opted for two private classes which were reasonably priced and tailored to our needs. As a teacher, Kaeli is warm and welcoming, knowledgeable, balanced, and evidence-based. Kaeli's steady and warm presence puts children at ease and inspires a playful and curious attitude. My son, who was apprehensive at first grew to love the joyous and consistent rhythm of the class. With each class his participation and level of comfort increased. By the end of the session, he exclaimed that it was the favorite part of his busy and active day. My daughter adored Kaeli and how she infused music and story into the yoga class. She would often request songs from class at home and eagerly awaited her beloved yoga class with Kaeli. My first introduction to Motion Center was through the prenatal yoga class which at the time provided much physical and emotional relief during my pregnancy. My husband and I took the contemplative birthing class 5 years ago for the birth of our first child. The class empowered us and prepared me and my husband for the birthing experience as well as the postpartum stage. Kaeli was also our doula and helped us navigate the birthing experience. She was our steady and gentle guide on the birthing journey and for that we are forever grateful.

Through a combination of techniques we worked gently through some spasming muscles and tension in muscle groups I hadn't realized were all connected! The session was unhurried and she gave me a vocabulary for describing how things felt and techniques to maintain the level of relaxation we'd achieved. The pain was so reduced that that night I got my first full night of sleep since the injury!

In our…read moreconsultation she not only talked about her perspective and qualifications as a doula, but also took the time to really get to know me as a person, what I wanted and needed from a doula, and what my fears and hopes were for my birth. I felt like I was talking to a friend rather than having a consultation for services. Jesse also went into detail about specific strategies she would use in labor in my pursuit of a VBAC, demonstrating her wide skill set, and showing me that not only is she emotionally apt, but also highly qualified in the physical aspect of what she does--unlike many doulas, she is not just there primarily for emotional support. That combined with her lovely personality made me feel confident in choosing her to assist my birth. During active labor, Jesse beyond exceeded our expectations. She had a strong intuition about what my body needed and when, clearly developed over her training as a doula and massage therapist, but what is also an obvious innate talent. She pushed me to try strategies outside of my comfort zone as well as respected my limitations and needs. She was a source of both comfort and strength, helping me work through every contraction, repositioning me to get my sunny-side-up baby to spin, making sure I was hydrated, involving my partner, massaging and applying gentle touch, and so much more. She stayed with us throughout my labor that lasted the span of two days, an unwavering touchstone. My daughter was successfully born by VBAC, and I don't know if I could have done it without Jesse. I heard multiple nurses comment on how great a doula she was, and also one said to me directly how lucky I was to have her, because she was one of the best she'd ever worked with. After birth, Jesse stayed with us for longer than an hour to make sure we were settled, and then arranged to get us food from our favorite restaurant to feed the ravenous post-labor hunger, which was quite far away. She absolutely went the extra mile for us in every way. Also, Jesse was willing to work with my husband and I on price. She believes all people should have access to a birth doula, and it is so deeply appreciated. I wholeheartedly recommend Jesse to any laboring person and couple. Her dedication and care just make my heart burst with gratitude.

Yay, another visit on my Passport to Prana card!…read more I wouldn't normally make the trek from Somerville to Wellesley, but this studio is maybe 15 minutes from my office in Needham, and the yin yoga/meditation class sounded like it could be just what I needed last Tuesday night. I made my way to Laughing Dog, which is in the same building as the decrepit Wellesley Driving School, of which I am a proud, accident-prone graduate! So, you go inside and the building is old and gross, but inside the studio, the space has really been made up nicely. Cynthia, my instructor, was very welcoming and informative as I signed in and got myself situated. What I didn't know upon going in was that yin yoga is a verrrry slow, low-impact practice; holding twists and other restorative poses for periods of time as she talked us through muscle release and general relaxation. We were able to come into one downward dog, too. The class ended with a long, silent meditation. Not bad, and I know the studio offers other (mainly anusara and vinyasa) classes. Kinda odd, but they charge different amounts for different length classes-- so a 60-minute class card would cost less than a 90-minute one. Guess I got my free money's worth going to a 90 minute class! Moral is check out this studio if the location is convenient. Seemed nice enough and likely offers something for nearly everyone.

Online they had a special for first timers and I opted to do aerial yoga for the 3 class package I bought and boy am I ecstatic that I went! Upon entering the parking area they have affirmations at almost every parking spot, which I enjoy. The outside of the building is so welcoming, they have meditation music playing on your way in and you're warmly greeted. Very easy to find and they have so many things going on here it's amazing. They have all types of yoga classes, a sweat spa, they do facials, massages and so much more! I walked around in awe of all of art and yogi stuff it was beautiful! The bathroom even had affirmations everywhere and was super clean! I mean so clean that I was walking around in my socks and then walking around barefoot which I don't do! I've never done aerial yoga before so I signed up for an intro class with David! He was great! The way he explained everything was very to the point and easy to understand. He so eloquently showed us the moves and then spotted us as we needed. I was terrified at first and then I learned to trust my body and by the time I knew it I was doing things in the air and upside down and I was so proud and felt impressed. I did indeed connect with my body on a level I never knew. I loved it so much I then did the beginner class with Lisa and then the all levels with David again. Lisa was sweet but I like David's teaching style better, but I liked them both, but will stick with David. I am indeed going to buy the 10 class package because I loved it so much and I indeed need aerial yoga in my life more frequently. I love this place I really do and I am so happy I didn't just ignore this place from reading previous reviews. Everyone has their own experiences and mine was pleasant all 3 times! I've already convinced my co-workers and mom to attend an aerial yoga class with me so we're setting that up. It had changed my life, changed my exercising, my being in tune with my body and opening me up to tons of new things I had no clue I could do. You feel very free after this class, and very much like you want to learn more and more moves. I would give this place a go for anyone thinking of trying it!

The classes are mostly restorative, so don't expect to be breaking a sweat in most classes. However, if your purpose in doing yoga is relaxation and stretching, this is your place. A few things I wish they'd improve - first, the parking is very cramped. Don't get me wrong, I'm grateful in downtown Bristol for any parking...but it can be hard to get in and out. Second, their schedules occasionally change without notice so make sure to check the website (NOT the paper schedule they hand out). Finally, they have lovely paper decorations hanging all over the studio, which get in the way for standing poses. Not a huge fan of those- they kind of impeded my warrior poses. Overall, a calming great place to practice and I'll certainly be back! I loved getting to trial different instructors. They round out my yoga practice, as I like a variety of styles & intensity levels. This would be a great place to being a more novice yoga practitioner, someone with an injury, or someone seeking a meditative/relaxing class.
