The new owners seem friendly and accommodating after two consecutive visits, and they do provide a year warranty on any trees purchased--if you're willing to spend an extra $30 on compost and root stimulator solution. I was relieved to see the interior of the building is relatively the same, in terms of airy design and decorative accessories offered. Parking is usually dependable, though spaces can feel tight when the lot is full. Only certain spots in the Gardens offer shade, so I would not recommend visiting in the heat of the day. I do wish they sold water bottles when checking out to help appease the children--and adults lol--who are overly warm and tired. I think it would add a lot to one's shopping experience here during the summer months and provide some endurance for shoppers who stop in. Strongly recommend checking this enjoyable oasis out. read more

I have always enjoyed going to the Gardens. The previous owner, Steve and his wife, were very personable and cared a lot about the business. The new owners are a family that have hired great people that really care about the plants and your experience. Specifically, they have hired Bon Jolie, who is an expert in all things flowers and really knows what she is talking about. Her guidance is invaluable. They are a bit higher in price, but the team is great and it's worth it to talk to someone who can give you good advice on how to keep your plants thriving. Thank you Bon Jolie! The staff was super helpful and friendly. I was immediately turned off when I was leaving (after spending $50 for 5 herbs) and a customer's dog lifted his leg on the annuals at the front entrance. Friendly staff...seem knowledgeable...but if your plant or tree dies...they play the blame game. For instance...the Hydrangea tree $300+ purchase last year...planted and watered appropriately throughout the year yet dies mid spring...only producing a handful of leave throughout...then died. When we ask if they would cover the dead product...they stated only if we planted it...and that this species isn't a hardly tree to begin with...this is sad. GO TO TAGAWA GARDENS FOR YOUR FLOWERS. We went to this place recently and got flowers for two good sized pots and one small pot, the flowers and a single bag of potting soil cost $285!!!! That included zero pots, just some flower and dirt. We went to tagawa a couple of days later and got 5 planted pots, big beautiful pots that were lush and grown with the pots and the dirt and the flowers and it was $260. Plus this place is overall mediocre, pretty small, everything is unbelievably overpriced. Tagawa is breathtaking and it's huuuuge. If wasting money is your thing, go to The Gardens. If value and beauty are your thing, go to Tagawa. read more

Poor Quality - in late July 2023, we purchased five trees. Three installed by them in August 2023 two by us in Aug. By Oct. 2023 one they installed died - no warranty or willingness to make it right. Two more died summer 2024, less than a year, and a last died this winter. Only one aspen we planted remains alive. Watered in the winter. Just disappointed. I won't go back. read more

I am always a supporter of small local businesses, but after this experience I will never shop at the Gardens again, and I will strongly encourage all others to avoid this store. I bought a very expensive artificial tree 1 years ago. I was sold on the fact that they told me that they will replace lights in the strands when they go out. This is obviously something that happens with prelit trees and is difficult to do. I called in early November this year with a section of my tree unlit. I called to schedule a "repair" to my tree knowing that there would be a fee for the service, of course. Unfortunately I was told to fix it myself because they no longer provide the service that made me so willing to purchase this over priced tree. AVOID THESE OWNERS as they do not follow through with what they say they provide and charge a pretty penny . If I could give they no stars... I would. read more

Just had the worst experience with this company. I bought three Mums from them less than a week ago. Two of them are doing well but one wilted and was clearly in the process of dying. All three were placed in the exact same location and all three were watered exactly the same. After a lengthy interrogation by the owner/manager she refused to do anything about the dying plant. Clearly, she sold me a defective plant and refused to take any responsibility for it. After working extensively with the owner (manager?) to select perennials for a complete bed overhaul I prepped and planted everything according to their instructions. 2 of the plants didn't make it through the winter and after asking them to provide replacements for the two dead plants they refused. I've been in Highlands Ranch since 2014 and we decided to buy a Christmas Tree from "The Gardens" last month on 11/30. The costumer service from the two employees who helped us picked the tree was great. I had a great conversation with one of them in Spanish after they helped us load the tree into our trailer. The employee was telling us how awesome the owners have been for the 30 years he has worked there and how grateful he is to have a job there. After I had gone inside to pay and loaded the tree, with the help of two employees into my trailer. One of the owners or owner's wife made her employee get a receipt from us to make sure we paid for the tree and it made us very uncomfortable. I found it to be rude and borderline racist. First and last time for us, we are never coming back. read more

I recently purchased a couple of metal planters for my home. I attempted to return them two days later to this store because they were simply the wrong size. The receipt given states the items are returnable, this mind you, is a legal and binding document. When I attempted to return the planters to the store the store refused to receive them back "because of covid and the risks". When I used the store's pen to write my information down for the manager to call me, I returned their pen to them. They were not concerned about the pen and the possibility of covid being transmitted, in fact, they threw the pen on the countertop without disinfecting it at all. Three employees were seen not wearing masks per their policies; and the manager refused to call me to discuss the situation. Be wary of going to this store. I would highly recommend trying the Wilmore Nursery Garden Center off of County Line Road. It is important to note, this nursery accepted a return I needed to make there, with no harassment, or issues whatsoever. They were much friendlier and they do not breach their own written contracts. read more

I ventured to Littleton since I seldom do, I brought up my bookmarks of plenty and The Gardens came up as a place I had wanted to go, it was a great starting point for my day. The Gardens is picturesque as you drive up to park, very beautiful from the outside, fully in bloom with colors and then the different shrubbery in shades of green. The inside area (gift shop) is warm and inviting and offers selection of garden items, gifts, pots, mirrors all at varied prices, something for everyone I would say. The greenhouses are stocked with cacti & succulents oh my, house plants and then as you enter the other out door greenhouses they have rows and rows of annuals and perennials, a lot of the annuals are on sale this time of year with the high buying season being earlier in the year. I grabbed a beautiful coleus for more than half off that compliments my patio garden nicely. Great greenhouse for most items needed for the garden or even the house. read more

Everywhere you parked there were signs saying "masks required". That Is what I would expect at this time. We donned our masks and began looking around. The workers either had no masks on, or wore them below their chins! All the customers wore them. They would come very close talking away. Even when I pointedly stepped further back some of them came closer. No sense of social distancing whatsoever. I will come back, decent selection. But not anytime soon. Workers, lower the mask when you walk away......not when you are in your customers face! read more

Just made our last trip to this nursery. Bought 4 coconut liners a few days ago and then yesterday went back to The Gardens and decided to spend over $100 each for two new larger beautiful iron railing baskets and therefore the smaller coconut liners we bought for the smaller baskets wouldn't work. So with the receipt tried to return the coconut liners we purchased a few days prior. They would not do a return, credit, nothing. Just rudely pointed to the sign that is posted that says no returns. I totally understand and respect not being able to return plants, but a "hard good" with a receipt that's never been used with the tags still attached because be bought a nicer bigger rack that takes a larger size liner. Unreal. We've spent thousands of dollars at this nursery over the years but they've now lost our business. Only explanation that the not real friendly clerk gave was "I don't make the rules." Terrible way to run a business let alone treat a very good customer. Thankfully we have many other nursery choices in the area. This place is WAY over priced anyway but we always liked supporting the local business. No more. We've spent our last dollar here. I will also be telling the many friends and neighbors that routinely visit this nursery of our experience today and encourage them to spent their money elsewhere as we will be doing. read more

We recently moved to Castle Pines Village and needed to update some landscaping. After checking out a couple nurseries, we were referred to The Gardens. They have a good selection, and more importantly, they have Steve, the owner, who works there. I was wandering around with my list of HOA approved plants, pictures of the areas of my garden that needed new plants, and Steve came over to see how he could help. The ladies at the checkout counter were quite rude. I purchased some flowers and had them in a plastic tray. The tray wasn't half filled up but I had a large terracotta saucer I wanted in the other half. The woman had the audacity to ask if she could cut the empty half of the tray off and started to make a rude comment but stopped. Won't be back, there are places with friendlier customer service in the area who aren't hard up to keep half of a plastic tray! read more

Today we decided to support small business, and buy a few plants at The Gardens in Highlands Ranch. It has always been one of my favorite places to go. We headed in, wearing our masks and soon after my five year old desperately needed to use the restroom. We headed to the back, which was covered in signs and tape saying that "according to the law, restrooms were closed and for employees only." I'm not a rule breaker, but my kid was desperate. Let her pee her pants or quickly jump in? I opted for the latter. She did her business, washed hands and used a paper towel to open the door. We went back to the greenhouse, and a woman who worked there literally ran over to us shouting "Did you use the restroom?" I explained the situation and told her we had. She began yelling again (while my five year old watched in horror) and told us "that if we couldn't follow the rules, not to shop there." I told her there had been no sign when we entered the business that there were no longer public restrooms. She kept yelling. I put down my plants and we exited. I could hear her yelling to customers in line about my five year old as we left. On our way to the car my daughter asked, in all seriousness, if we were both going to jail because she needed to use the potty. Is this what we have come to?? Be smart. Be safe. And go pee on the floor at The Gardens. (Ok, not really, but go to Home Depot or Jared's instead, that are apparently "allowed" to have bathrooms. read more

Terrible. Downright rude. I will never set foot in that place again. There are far too many other nurseries and home stores around to put up with any of them. We asked them to hold some items for us for an hour. We came back in about an hour, if that, and they had not held them. It was already back on the shelf. And they all stand around with guilty looks on their faces when you walk in the door. A bunch of employees with nothing to do, and then when you ask them to do something for you they can't even do that. And it's not the first time. They're terrible. This nursery is great on customer service. My husband bought a lilac bush here last spring It was extraordinary. I could not plant it in the ground, so I moved it to a large pot. I have sheltered it in the garage and now it is starting to bud. I called for advice and Joyce could not have been nicer. She asked several questions and made some recommendations. Yes, we both agreed it is best to plant it in the ground. But that is not an option. It was very kind of her to make suggestions and be sure I understood the importance of the watering method. read more

We love this nursery and have been treated so very well by everyone. The shop is beautiful with furniture and other home/garden decor. I've done some Christmas shopping here because of the beautiful items and decorations. The little red wagons are fun to use to shop for beautiful, high quality flowers and even pumpkins in the fall. They back their warranty to the fullest for plants, etc. The furniture is very charming and well priced for unique pieces. I highly recommend shopping here. The owner is wonderful! read more

I am done with this nursery. They need to take some courses in how to give good customer service. Absolutely the WORST. They placed 2 signs with a price on it for some fruit bushes. The plant itself was NOT priced. When I went to pay for it it was significantly higher than the price on the sign. I told them and a salesperson went to look and I could see she was rearranging all the plants. She came back and when I asked what price she is honoring she just walked away! The guy at the register was completely useless "gee we usually go with what the register rings up". Seriously?? There was ONE customer in the store and you want to give up a sale?! We have been frequent customers of Steve's "The Gardens" since 2001 when they put in our yard. I just wanted to say thank you for continuing to be our favorite place to buy flowering plants, shrubs, trees, "purple" bags of soil, hanging arrangements, fountains, garden tools, chemicals and most recently a "Fat Albert" spruce. Steve is the star of the show, but we always get friendly and helpful service. We also applaud The Gardens efforts to comply with C-19 rules and holding self indulgent customers accountable. The Gardens in Highlands Ranch has been my happy place for ... well as long as they have been open, so a long time. Although I usually go there to buy flowers, plants, or some wonderful embellishment for our home, other times I just go to walk around, gather my thoughts, and pet Bella. This is a family owned, small business, that has not only survived, but thrived in the midst of nothing but regional and national chain stores. I've learned everything I know about gardening from the folks that work at The Gardens. I couldn't imagine my community without them. They are what make Highlands Ranch unique. read more

I purchased a fiddle fig tree for $300 here, and after about a week, it started dropping all of its leaves. 2 weeks later, 50% of the leaves were gone. I contacted the nursery directly only to be told it's my fault it died because it was in good condition when it left, the warrantee doesn't apply, and to try repotting it (fiddle figs should not be repotted right before winter when they are in distress). I received no help or support, contacted BBB, and have pursued this on my own through the credit card company. A company should stand behind its product and support its customers, and it's very unfortunate as many neighbors of mine know the owner directly. I have told them the story and they were appalled. The Gardens - $300 may not seem like a lot, but it is to people who paid for a product that didn't hold up and were offered nothing when contacted for help. Offering your customers solutions, whether it be discounts, warrantees, replacements, even sympathy, shows that you stand behind your product and saying "well, it's on the receipt and on every register" is simply not right. read more

The Gardens is gorgeous and has that non-chain feel that is inviting. Beautiful plants, flowers, and unique home/garden decor. This would be one of the first places I'd head to if I won the lottery. There's a few draw backs. It's on the expensive side. More importantly, the staff, while very knowledgeable, is not particularly friendly. I guess I just see the place as having this great family owned business feel edge in Highlands Ranch, an oasis where people are surrounded by the presence of chain store/restaurant proliferation. That edge is quickly destroyed by the lack of warmth and business demeanor of most of the staff (male owner excluded). No chance of the place recognizing, much less remembering the name of regulars like me. Disappointing considering it could be a defining business of Highlands Ranch. Still, I find myself drawn back there alot. Even my kids love to go there. read more

Visited this nursery for the first time. Beautiful nursery with a very unfriendly staff. We walked on a slow afternoon, not one person at the front counter greeted us. They stood there leaning against the counter and just watched us walk by. The nursery is very confusing to figure out on which plants are good in the sun or low sun. The worst part was not one of their nursery staff even asked if we needed help. They would walk by us and look down. Wouldn't even look up to smile at you. We have been to several nurseries of the past couple of weeks finding the right plants for our landscaping project. Every nursery would greet us and always had someone ask if we needed help.
