I was out in Aurora and thought I would check this place out! I know they have awesome events in the fall and I didn't get to go last fall, but I hope to get there this fall! The place is MASSIVE!! Lots going on everywhere. TONS of plants and there are even random fake plants which was funny to me for some reason! Basically now I know where I can get a replacement plant for whatever plant just died in my apartment! They have a wide and abundant variety of indoor and outdoor plants! They also have a boutique selection of retail merch which was interesting to browse and it also seemed like there was a farmers market and freezer section! It's a great place to go if you need a floral break and need to immerse yourself in colorful petals and greenery! The staff was super friendly and I really loved seeing so many plants that I had really never seen before! The giant cacti were also really cool - something I would save my pennies for! I visited Nick's Garden Center this past Sunday for what should have been a simple trip -- I needed some mulch and a few flowers for my front doorstep. Unfortunately, the experience left me genuinely disappointed. I understand this is a large garden center and the staff fields a lot of questions daily, but that's no excuse for the treatment I received. When I asked for help, I was met with eye rolls, dismissive attitudes, and responses that felt rushed and unhelpful. The rudeness was hard to miss and made what should have been an enjoyable Sunday errand feel like an ordeal. I want to support local businesses, and I had high hopes for this place given its reputation. But basic customer respect shouldn't be too much to ask. I left feeling unwelcome and honestly a bit deflated. I hope management takes staff attitude seriously -- it can make or break a customer's experience. read more

Tagawa gardens vs Nicks... hands down on Nicks! The support you get with Nicks is second to none, never had an issue and always willing to help! Tagawa gardens I was gifted a tree from my wife's former friend that works there, thought it was nice until the tree was dead... the warranty only works when the owner wants it to work. Then when the owner found out it was a gift from an employee, they decided to refund the money to the employee and leave us with a dead tree. If it wasn't gifted, I would have never gotten a tree from any place other than Nicks....see ya soon! It's important to note I am a 21 year veteran 100% disabled, I can't plant a tree so I need the service, Tagawa knew this and still treated me like crap... not a veteran friendly place. read more

This garden has a large variety of different plants to choose from. I purchased several house plants as well outdoor plants for the patio of my new apartment. The plants are all very well taken care of and healthy. The garden is extremely organized, clean, and well kept. The workers are knowledgeable and gave guidance on how to properly care for the plants I purchased. I also bought some fresh produce. This review is solely for the Fall Festival. It's a great event without having to drive out of town for a huge pumpkin patch. Lots of variety of free games and activities for the kids to do (cornhole, corn pit, frog toss, balance games). But man, has the pricing of paid activities gone way up! I understand charging per kid per ride, but feel like charging the parents who are only riding to go along with their child who is unable to ride alone is excessive. One loop on the kiddie train cost me $18 just to accompany my 2 kids! Another $18 to ride the tractor. And so on. So this "free" activity turns expensive VERY quickly. Just keep that in mind!! Also, this year they attempted to maximize their space by putting the maze and photo ops on the outer perimeter, but the problem is the train path goes right up the middle where kids are running around! So, kids running around trying to catch the rings or balls from the games that are right next to the path, or kids running in/out of the maze run directly into the path of the train! My son got his foot run over by the train when he popped out of the maze and didn't see the train coming. The drivers don't even look like they care that much, just honked at him and kept on rolling! I had to grab another kid who was running to his mom and also would've gotten hit at a separate time, and saw so many kids almost get hit in the time we were there! Probably should reconsider the layout and path of the train for future! I will say I do love the roasted chili station -- they have so much variety of peppers available in different spice levels. Great to visit any time of the year. If you are looking for somewhere to take the kids without driving really far this is the place to go. During the fall you can come here to get your pumpkins and enjoy the festival. In December/November you can get your Christmas trees here. I love browsing through their shop. They have much more than plants but lots of great gifts and produce. Lots of plant accessories too. Plants here are well taken care of. The staff here are friendly. It does get very crowded though when they are doing special activities. We came a weekend before Halloween for their fall activities and we could not even park in the parking lot and had to park in the nearby neighborhood. Despite the festival crowds, if you have not been here yet you should definitely check them out, especially if you are a plant lover! They've got a huge selection. read more

FUN PUMPKIN PATCH! I took my daughter here to enjoy fall festivities. This was surely fun with so many kids activities to choose from. My daughter's most fav was the tractor ride. The only caveat is the long waiting queues for every single rides. There are lot of photo opportunity as every nook and cranny is loaded with pumpkin / spooky decor. To finish our visit we bought the roasted corn and they were the best toasted corn I have ever had! I would suggest going here on weekday maybe to avoid crowd and queue. read more

Today I decided to go to Nick's Garden Center to buy a specific plant that I need. Unfortunately it is out of season, but I was told that it grows everywhere for free all over Colorado. I'm going to go hunt for it before it starts to get cold. Luckily it's still consistently hot throughout the final days of summer. It won't get cold until October in the 303. It was very refreshing to be around so many plants, flowers, and vegetables. I really enjoyed the fountains. A lot of them were turned on and running water, which was cool. I absolutely adored the tree and bush landscaping part of the garden center. It really made me appreciate how much energy goes into landscaping and gardening. I ended up buying a perfectly ripe watermelon. I wanted to buy a beautiful blue Spruce baby tree, but I have no place to put a tree. I went here a few weeks ago and there really wasn't a good selection and most of the flowers seemed like they were dying and dried out. Next time tell your "security" creep to chill. You lost 2 customers. My wife and I went there to see if the tamale guy was there on Sunday, he wasn't so we went in the store to browse around since we have been discussing getting plants and decor for our patio, we made it to the center of the store and approached the succulent display (my wife loves them) and we were discussing which ones to get for our little garden project, then this creepy guy in a black shirt and green cargo pants approaches us and asked "do you need anything?" I simply said "no thank you" and he proceeded to walk away; then I heard him radio in a description of my wife and I and our location within the store. I looked to my wife and asked if she heard that, and she said she did, then informed me he had been following us around keeping himself parallel to us the entire time since the moment we walked in. Talk about profiling....to explain this; I am a man that has a lot of tattoos (from my head to arms, neck, etc), shaved head, and a beard, so I'm use to the weird looks but to be stalked in a store like this with my wife was grossly bothersome and then to blatantly describe us on the radio in depth right next to us in a low tone instantly gave me big red flags. He had no badge or identification either to tell us if he actually was security or an employee, or if it was just some creep stalking people in the store on his own terms. Regardless I'm not going to chance it when I'm with my wife, so needless to say we immediately left after feeling immensely uncomfortable. We will not be going back, and to those that enjoy tattoos and art the way I do, just know I doubt you'll be greeted appropriately; just stalked and creeped on. I don't steal, I'm VERY polite, patient and understanding, I work in mental health and run several facilities. Just because I enjoy wearing my art, shouldn't label me as a criminal. There were so many learning activities for my granddaughter. As a former master gardener from a different state, I thoroughly enjoyed teaching her how to use the QR codes and get into the nitty gritty of plant families. The way it's played out was simple to explain and enjoyable Went to get a pumpkin and was pleasantly surprised with what was offered for elementary ages children to have non tech fun. What a perfect sunny autumn day to discover this huge garden center close to my home. To my delight, this garden center was chock full of fresh produce, healthy plants big and small, and a kids area that even I as an adult enjoyed. There were ring toss games, rubber ducks race, a hay maze, running train that went around their tracks, and much more. Nicks did an excellent job with Halloween decorations throughout the center. Tons of pumpkins to choose from and there were signs telling about the history of Halloween and even some silly Halloween jokes. I could have stayed longer because there was much to see and do. Highly recommend this place for young and adults. Make sure to pick up a big bag of caramel flavored popcorn and a jug of apple cider. Definitely will be back! read more

Nick's has a tremendous selection--well organized and clearly labeled for easy shopping. We've usually started here when shopping for Spring plants, and 2023 was no exception. I was stoked to see, for the first time in Colorado, healthy specimens of a favorite ornamental cactus. A pair didn't set me back too much, considering I don't have to drive to AZ/CA or buy by mail. However, the green thumb of the house was shocked at price increases since 2022 and we purchased nothing else. Looking to add rose bushes, we found more of the ones we got here last year for $59.99. The price approached $80. Nope. Apparent hikes on soil, pots & other items we need had us heading for the exit. Our disappointment was short-lived, as a 20 minute drive further out onto the plains yielded those same roses for.... $59.99. Sorry, Nick. We love the place, but not the prices. Would we come back? This place is magical! I bought a beautiful palm plant and pot for my friend for Christmas. The plant's are abundant and beautifully cared for. What I was not expecting were all the beautiful trinkets, decor and specialty foods inside! Needless to say, I left with more than I came for! Can't wait to go back and explore some more. October is magical at Nick's Fall Fest. We were visiting family and popped in here unexpectedly. We saw the Halloween decorations and thought we would stop to peek around. We were welcomed at the entrance enticed by the smell of kettle corn. Nick's offers a family friendly environment, train rides, pedal karts, an inflatable obstacle course, and so -so many types of pumpkins and fall Decorations! Really-so much to see. Wanted to get some peonies so we headed to the neighborhood garden center. Parking is available and carts to tote your selections. They have a gift center where you can buy everything from seeds to hats to honey. And they've put in a cafe which opens in the fall. I hadn't been here in a while so I enjoyed looking at the new items. Asked an associate where peonies and jalapeño plants are. She directed us and off we went. So many different types of trees and plants. Divided into annuals, perennials, sun loving, shade preferring, herbs and vegetables. We navigated the aisles looking for the peonies with my attention being diverted by other plants. As we were contemplating which plant I wanted, I asked for clarification on perennials, wanting to make sure I purchased plants which come back every year. The associate who helped us was knowledgeable if a little verbose. I picked a black eyed Susan and a couple of other plants. While walking to the vegetables, he saw plants suitable for a rock garden. We have a little section of rocks so I let him choose a plant and off we went. Found the section we needed and the jalapeño and tomato plants were buy one, get one. Exciting! I selected two - would have bought more but my 'garden' is only a strip along my patio. So not a lot of space. We checked out and headed for the car. There are food vendors in front of the store. Not sure if they are the same or rotate but there was a tamale vendor, a juice food truck and what looked like hotdogs. I think this is great as you can get a snack or a cold drink on a hot day. This review is specifically related to Dog Tuff ™ grass (Cynodon 'PWIN04S') is dog urine resistant, low water turf, and you never have to mow it because it only grows to be about 4 inches tall. Dog TUFF trays ($100 per tray) contain about 70 plugs per tray will cover about 70 sq ft. I purchased 6 trays but only ended up using 5 trays for 420 sq ft. To start you need to get rid of old grass or like my case have new denver dirt is sandy with no nutrients so you have to put 1-2in compost soil down to feed the new grass. Step by step instructions: 1. Nick's garden delivery ($200) 3 cubic yard of "5 way compost" $49/yd and 3 cubic yard of "EKO planters mix" $99/yd. 2. PREEN Weed preventer (pre-emergent) sprayed the barrier seeds down before putting the compost on top. Optional: Amazon (Down to Earth Organic Alfalfa Meal Fertilizer) $21 3. Behlen Stock Tank (home depot) veggie garden we used only 1 yd of ECO planter mix so put the leftover 2 yd plus 5 way compost and mixed everything up with a electric Tiller. 4. Once the soil is ready water irrigate it really good wait for couple days then drill 1.5in diameter hole then plug one by one foot apart. Amazon (VUDECO Auger Drill Bit 2 PCS) $25 5. To help as a nurse crop I plan to throw some (Annual RyeGrass Seed by Eretz $15 Amazon) on top of the Dog Tuff in the next few days. The more you water it, the faster it will grow. Temperature: the ground needs to be at least 50 degrees or above so you may want to wait plugging down the trays until after June 1st. Watering: area lightly 2-3 times a day for a week, about once a day the second week and every other day or so by the third week. Second year and beyond: water once a week or every 10-14 days once fully established. Next year I will write an update with before after pictures. I do not like to endorse Amazon but some of the stuff is impossible to find like that 1.5in Auger Drill. P.S. Amazon with their SkyNet terminators will one day enslave us and even Dogs will not be Tuff enough to protect us. read more

My partner and I have been coming here for over two years now and it is my absolute favorite nursery/garden center in the Denver area. The prices are fair, the plants grow well, and the service has always been above and beyond helpful and friendly. The space is so huge, I feel like you can spend an entire day here and not see everything (there's also plenty of parking spaces). There's an entire different section for perennials, annuals, vegetables, trees (some of these trees are huge), fountains, pots. There's a delivery service for the larger items. They have everything a gardener could possibly need.
