Had been excited to check out this store for a while and can definitely say I won't be back to support it. Walked in and was immediately greeted very rudely by the store owner. Google had the closing time listed as 6 PM and I arrived at 4:50 PM, not knowing the store adjusted their hours to close at 5 PM. The owner then repeated that they close at 5, "it's cold, and I want to go home." I said I could just take a quick lap around then to which the owner responded with "good." The cutest plant shop in Denver. This is a small business that's family owned. Every time I've gone in they have been nothing but thorough, patient, and so kind when I ask a million questions. My husband and I came here in search of a large, pet friendly pet to fill one of our massive pots. We unfortunately didn't find that particular item, but we did bring home a spider plant. It was not in poor shape, but there was some browning on a number of leaves and I thought a little expensive with that taken into consideration. Overall it looks like the plants are well cared for, and the woman we talked to was helpful and answered any questions we had (except for pet friendliness, which I had to look up). The shop itself is adorable. The pot selection is decent, but not the best I've come across - many didn't have a drain incorporated, which seemed a little silly. Will probably periodically stop in here to check out the stock, but I will also look at other establishments to see how the competition stands up. read more

My favorite nursery in Denver! Pros: (1) One of the nicest and most helpful owners I have ever met. Dennis--the owner--spent nearly 30 minutes meticulously explaining different types of plants, the pros and cons of each type of plant, answering my questions, and just discussing life. I wandered around for a bit I'm this shop, that is a house turned into a plant shop. I waited a bit and got done info on my succulents and ended up buying an indoor plant suited for low light. If you love plants and you live in Denver, you will inevitably make the pilgrimage to Dennis sooner or later. My visit came later because plant stores are dangerous for me and this one is deadly - beautiful darlings of all sizes made even more beautiful by Dennis's knowing and loving care. I had passed the store, located right in the heart of 6th Avenue, many times and gazed longingly inside and I had heard about Dennis from various plant lovers in the area. I finally made the trek due to an aloe that was at death's door. "I have to go see Dennis!", I cried, tucking the aloe under my arm and speeding away. It ended up that I was literally doing everything wrong with this plant. It had gone ash grey and brittle because I considered it a succulent (it's not) and was starving it of water. I thought it wanted full sun (it does) but hadn't considered that it might need a little bit of UV protection through a glass pane and had been keeping it on the sill of an open window. I had dried this poor thing out, and burnt it to a crisp as a bonus. Dennis walked me patiently through how to best take care of this aloe and it revived within two days, and now, a week in, the plant is thriving better than it ever has. I let myself walk around the store a bit afterwards and picked up a gorgeous calathea. It's a justified purchase! I can't just walk out after all that life saving advice without buying something - that would be rude! A guy was chatting about his ailing plant when I arrived, and by the time I'd started wrapping up my own chat with Dennis, another guy was on his way in with a plant in questionable state. Green, green everywhere. If you like whimsy and small, confined spaces with surprises around every corner, then this is your hang out. How the owner, a very, very chill and informative dude, managed to fit a vehicle in the tiny, cozy place - baffles me. But it's there. A red car in the back...just hanging out amongst lively and wild foliage that surrounds you in every direction. Pots, succulents, ferns - he's got them. And seems to receive new plants on the weekly. So, I'd recommend popping in more than once if you are really looking into investing in a permanent house plant to adorn your living room. The owner really does know his herbery. In fact, he was casually naming plants by their kingdom, species, genus, and family (or however that goes) like I knew exactly what he was talking about. Well I've always spotted this place out every time I'm heading up to Dazbog and have always wanted to stop by to buy some plants. Today, I did just that. I moved into an apartment with lots of sunlight and wanted to somewhat fill it with some little green buddies so I checked this place out. First off, the owner is extremely knowledgable about his plants. I pointed to different ones and he rattled off the names. I bought a HUGE pothos for $15, I'm talking about bigger than the ones you see at, say, Queen Soopers, full and healthy! This is the plant that you can't kill. I bought a tiny pothos called Snow White because of the leaves, for $5. The store contains all sorts of plants, pots, incense and plant chimes, yes plant chimes for $9. read more

Ive driven past this place for years and finally stopped in today because I'm looking for some new plants for my office. I was really disappointed. The plant and pot selection was really limited and expensive. Ive seen more choice at lower cost at a number of other places. I also need a couple of plants repotted and the woman I spoke with said "no one does that". Well I found two other plant stores that had better selections and were happy to help with the repotting. Based on the name, one might think that this establishment is just another enterprise seeking to exploit the unregulated growth of the marijuana dispensary industry here in Denver. Buy really, it's just a plant store. And an awesome one at that. The dude inside is like the Yoda of plant life, and if you use your imagination and pretend like the place is fogged up, it might even feel like you're in Dagobah. Regardless, the force is very strong in this little storefront on 6th and Clarkson. The owner was very knowledgeable about plants (at least to this amateur). Also, you could sense the enthusiasm he had for all his little friends. Plus he was upfront with me. He told me that it will be very difficult to take care of my beautiful new Alocasia Polly given that it's a tropical plant and needs humidity and moisture, something that Colorado is obviously lacking. He used to carry them and now he doesn't because they don't keep well. Although he did have some other tropical plants which were very beautiful. At the end of the day, I walked out with a couple of new plants for my apartment, low maintenance and good for the dry weather here in CO. I love the Herbery partly because their plants are beautiful, organic, well tended to, and hand-chosen (yes, every single one), but also because of how amazing Dennis and Jeanne are. My partner and I go in there every few weeks and chat for so long. They're such good people. They live for the Herbery, too. They make sure it's cleansed spiritually and check all the marks of running a plant shop well. Time for a bit honesty - I am a plant nerd. Not the kind you usually meet on the street, I'm a collector. I once easily had a collection of 500 or more plants in my home, I was the president of a plant society, judged in plant competitions (yes - it's a thing), and won ribbons from exhibiting my own plants. You have met a true plant nerd, me! Any store selling plants already has my heart, but The Herbery has the upper hand because he offers a larger variety of cacti and succulents and they have always been my favorite. The store is additionally stocked full of wonderful house plants, flowering African Violets, ferns, pots of all sizes and so much more. I loved perusing the store looking for that plant that needed to come home with me, and I actually found three. The man working there is informative and very friendly, we ended up chatting quite a bit while I was checking out. He gets new shipments of plants in all the time so his variety is constantly changing, more visits for me to make. His prices can range from reasonable to a little high based on my experience. I found some of the basic house plants to be slightly overpriced for the value. I'm not nearly the collector I used to be but I still have the love for anything green, anything that flowers, and anything that smells pretty. The Herbery is my happy place and someplace that will always make me smile. read more

Cute little storefront on a busy stretch of 6th Ave. I stopped by here in search of mini succulents to replace the ones I previously killed. The store is chock full of various houseplants, pots, books, kitsch, and quirky decorations (like a car!?). Small, but well curated selection of plants (including succulents) and completely reasonable prices. I'd much rather shop at this place than give my money to the "man" at the big box stores. Just a little gem of a plant shop, but I always leave with some pretties. The location is right on 6th Avenue, and while the exterior leaves something to the imagination, the inside is lush with plants and pretties of all types. The owner is an older man with a knowledge of plants and the care they require. He's super friendly, albeit a little awkward. I can hang out and talk plants for quite a while with him--and if a shipment has just arrived (lucky!), he'll let you poke through the boxes. It's not a huge space--you'll have to dodge all his pretty plants and their foliage, and you'll probably notice the old car parked inside, but it's well worth it. He even makes his own pottery--some inside and some outside. Fair and decent prices, though I've never purchased the pottery. I have, however, purchased countless succulents, a snake plant, and some other smaller varieties here through the years. Every time I stop in, I'm tempted to purchase a larger plant...and then I realize I don't have the room. The prices are very competitive. The only place I have found cheaper is Home Depot--where the quality is much lower, as are the varieties of plants. I'll keep The Herbery on my favorites list for as long as it's open! read more
