Stopped in one evening for a bite to eat and relax a little, and the Garage was just the right spot. A very cool locals hangout, that leans into a roadhouse garage theme interior. There was even great live music on the Tuesday night of our visit. Cordial staff and friendly customers. Walk up counter service, place your order, get a buzzer, grab your food from the window when it goes off. Pay when you are finished. A concise menu, done well. I opted for their Flatbread with pasta salad on the side. The flatbread was done very well, nice crisp with fresh ingredients. It worked for me, the pasta salad was also very good. They have an extensive beer and brews menu on a digital board overhead. We both enjoyed our meals and the live music was an extra touch on a tuesday. Another 5 star experience. Absolutely fantastic burger and mac and cheese. You order at the bar and then they buzz you when it's ready. Service was quick! We went in on a Wednesday a little after 12 and it wasn't too busy so not very loud. Easy to carry in a conversation. On the burger, I got bacon, cheddar, grilled onions, pickles and pimento cheese. That pimento cheese should be mass produced. Wow! The Mac and cheese side is very small but filling. I also added bacon to that. See pic. It had bacon wings! And fittingly, it was heavenly. We had some business to attend to in Walhalla, so we looked for a place in town for lunch. We chose the Garage and were pleased with the food, ambiance and friendliness of the owner and patrons. The music playing was just our jam too! The only thing that I would suggest is that there should probably be a big sign outside the entrance that says that this establishment is a CASH ONLY business. In this day and age very few people are walking around with $50 bucks in their pocket and have become dependent on using credit cards. read more

Just left The Garage in Walhalla after an excellent lunch with friends. This was the first time eating there for all of us, and became a rare find in that each of us had a different meal and we ALL enjoyed our choices. Plus the pimento cheese starter was delicious. Stopped in to support our local taproom/restaurants. First time we've tried the food. It was amazing! Very generous portions. I got the Philly Po Boy and my husband got the Turkey Club. The food was fresh but only average on taste and quantity. Please understand, I'm not knocking the food, but it was average bar food. My wife had the burger and I ordered the Philly cheesesteak. Both were, just okay. We also found the limited side options to be a bit of a disappointment, nothing fried was available, no fries, onion rings, mushrooms, nothing. We were "warned" walking through the parking to get into the building that it would take 45 minutes to get our food. We decided all we have is time as we are on vacation! The owner greeted us and seated us at the bar. The expected experience is to order your drinks on the right and your food on the left. There are big signs I soon saw but we must have appeared extra dim so they waited on us barside! Hubby had 2 IPAs and both served in cold glass (his favorite way) pretzel and flatbread were delicious. Food took a little longer but it was hot and good! This is a CASH establishment. Before, it was The Spot on the alley in Seneca, Henry's in the OBX, and JK's steakhouse in the OBX. Burgers here are by far the best ever. Juicy, delicious and dripping with goodness. We stumbled upon this taproom with exceptional food while on a weekend trip to the quaint little mountain town of Walhalla SC. Can't say enough about the friendly service and quality of food. We enjoyed it so much on Friday night, we went back Sat afternoon for more! Philly Cheese Poboy was huge and fantastic, along with the recommended old family recipe of potato salad. BLT was excellent too with the first tasty tomato we've tasted this spring. Next day up we're flatbreads, chicken wraps, and salad- another good choice! Love this joint !
