The Roxy is one of those places you take for granted--until it's gone. The historic and beautiful…read moreart deco theater has been open since the 1920s. I remember seeing movies there as a kid and I am pleased to be able to see live shows as an adult. (They still show current movies at the crazy low price of $4.) As old time theaters go, the Roxy is on the small side. But its grand art deco design and decor rivals any larger playhouse. Anywhere you look--the walls, ceilings, stage--you are reminded that generations of theater-goers sat in that same spot for over a century. It's nostalgic, cozy and magical. We have lost so many historic theaters in this area... this one deserves the public's support. Because of it's smaller size, there's not a bad seat in the house. We were seated halfway down the aisle, on the furthest right of three sections, and had no difficulty seeing every inch of the stage. Seats, while not luxurious, were comfortable. The theater does its best regarding accessibility. Though, it might be a challenge to navigate the small lobby, where the refreshment bar is, when filled with people. There is a dedicated wheelchair section in the theater, but also enough space to wheel down the aisles. As I understand it, there are restrooms on the first level, but also a small ladies (2 stalls and a tiny sink) up a narrow flight of stairs. The snack bar is limited with popcorn, candy and a variety of drinks. The butter seemed fresh, but I was a bit disappointed that my popcorn wasn't hot. I don't know a thing about "acoustics", but from my seat, the sound level was perfectly fine and the singing was clear. Overall we had a lovely time and look forward to returning for more live shows. (Up next: a live performance of The Nutcracker ballet!)

Please take your children to the Roxy to see what real theaters used to look like from the Hollywood Glam days. Prices cannot be beat, both parents and kids will be happy because there is no need to say no when they ask for a box of candy here! I don't know about everyone else but after admission, popcorn and sodas at modern theaters with reclining seats I'm almost broke and refuse to pay $6.99 for a box of candy on top of the exorbitant must get items. Anyway I took my son to see King of Kings cost for 2 with admission, large popcorn, sodas and yes ... CANDY was $20 total. Yep WINNER,WINNER chicken dinner LOL. We'll be back and in case anyone asks, no the seats don't recline but audio and visuals were both great and I think the ticket and concession prices were fantastic!

So here's the deal:…read more Location: nice area in Phillipsburg NJ.This is a nice, family friendly, and clean movie theatre. There are 12 theatres in all. They have an air hockey machine; there's a play-til'u-win rubber ducky claw machine and a few other arcade machines. Customer service: The staff is very pleasant and eager to help. The guy at the box office was sweet and helpful. The guys at the consessions stand were super sweet. The girl that collected the tickets was friendly and welcoming. Cleanliness: so the carpet in high traffic areas was free of debris, their garbage pails were easily accessible and not overflowing. The A/C was at a good temperature. The floors between the rows were clean and not sticky like some of the ones in NYC. The space between the seats are comfortable-a few of the seats need to be adjusted because the first one I sat on was real low. Picture & sound quality was great. I sat with my daughter in theatre 11 and hubby and my other daughter in theatre 3-both were great. I wanna point out this location is actually 20 min away from where I was but I choose to come here after reading several negative yelp reviews about the location in Northampton PA. So shout out to Chastity R. & Rasheen W. for their helpful contribution and description of thos location.

Barely any staff, nobody bothers to scan tickets purchased online, the seats are worn out and sag toward the floor, and last time I went the entire facility was not heated when outside was about 25 degrees. Lobby was a mess of popcorn and paper on the floor, women's restroom dirty and unserviced. Spent $15 per ticket, then $18 for a small popcorn and small soft drink. This place will not survive if they don't improve the experience. Going forward, I'll probably wait an extra month for streaming. I want to support local cinema but they are making it hard.
