My husband and I discovered this place through a Towcester pamphlet we received in the mail; apparently it is The Ganges one year anniversary. We decided last minute to book a table and when my husband called up they told him they only had tables available at 7pm or 9:30pm - so we clearly took the 7pm opening. Upon arrival you wouldn't think much of the restaurant and/or location. Inside it much nicer than one would assume. The interesting part was that the restaurant was completely empty and that completely contradicted what the person on the phone told my husband only hours earlier. That kind of annoyed me because we had to rush for the reservation when in reality no one was even there. The restaurant started to fill up a little after 7pm, but there were still a bunch of open tables.
The service was great - they didn't have waiters assigned to each table, but we mostly had a nice guy named Red come over and check on us. He seemed to be very popular with the regulars at the bar and restaurant. We liked him too. The food was very good but did take a while to come out. Unfortunately we ended up filling up on popadoms and sides which left little room for the actual food! Luckily Red came to the rescue and boxed up our leftover food so it didn't go to waste. The wine selection is not very good - our bottle of Rioja tasted awful so we sent it back and just got beers. I suggest they invest in a better wine list because it just looked cheap. At the end of our meal they offered us a complimentary drink, which was really nice.
Overall I really liked this curry house and since it is close to our home we will definitely be back. read more
