The community that's built up around this store is generally positive. You run into the occasional "angry neckbeard" type, but most people who hang out here are just passionate hobbyists who are willing to help new players. My one complaint is that the story is pretty small. It's often crowded during peak hours, with no open tables for playing games. As a consequence of the small size, there isn't a public restroom. This can be a problem, as games of 40k can take hours and the nearby stores aren't always comfortable with people using their bathrooms. I wish they could expand into the vacant storefront next door, hint hint!

There were 3 other employees working walking around they ALL saw me standing there. They didn't look very busy. I waited maybe 5 mins when another customer walked in trying to sell books. I highly recommend this shop for not only their wares, but also for their welcoming and positive attitudes. The owner Alex is great and the environment is very inviting. Whether you are into comics or trading card games Alex has a lot of knowledge and gives great recommendations. I saw him helping a mom with her young son pick out his first ever comic. I could tell that the mom was a little out of her league in a comic bookstore but Alex made sure to help make both the mom and son feel welcomed and invited. He asked great questions to see where their interests were and gave great recommendations for them. Just to see the relief on the mother's face and the excitement in the kids eyes brought me back to how we all got into these hobbies. I hope The Zone is there forever to help more and more people find a home for the hobbies we all love. Thanks for helping me and so many others Alex!

First off, the only reason I recommend this place is for you to have a laugh. Second, I give them 2…read morestars because this place actually has potential. I brought a buddy of mine in here today because I'm pretty sure he thought I was exaggerating about how bad this place is. I've been in here about 3-4 times before and each time was worse than the last. The first time I was in here was almost a year ago. I asked the fella working if he could order a comic book for me. He messed with the computer for a few minutes and then told me it was ordered. For the next few months, I either called or went in and asked about the status of said book. I'm still waiting for that book. This place is an absolute mess. It's dirty and there is no order for anything. Today was the final time I will step foot in this store though. There were a few guys in the back, playing magic or some other card game. The fact that they were playing is not the issue. The fact that they were loud and almost every word out of their mouths was some curse word or the "N" word is the issue. Everyone swears, I get it. But a customer was in there with his young son. I personally would've said something if my child was in there and that was going on. Anyway, a few mins after being there, about 8 or 9 books fell off the over stacked shelf. The customer jokingly said "I didn't do it" and the worker replied "it happens all the time" as he continued standing behind the counter, playing on his phone. Some other customer had to pick the books up. He obviously has no care in the world for this shop and frankly that's sad. My buddy was thumbing through the back issues that he could actually get to and started pulling out books that were ridiculously overpriced. They were damaged and disgusting. One in particular had a coffee ring on its cover. Others had destroyed covers that should've been in the nickle bin. This place needs a complete overhaul and a worker who actually takes pride in their shop.

I was doing other running around and ended up walking in the store 2 minutes before closing (hate to be that person)! Employees were nothing but helpful and friendly. I knew exactly what I needed and asked an employee where I could find it, so I could get out of the store as fast as possible. She quickly helped me, but the poster I needed was out of stock. Another employee was near, so I just asked how often the posters were restocked. She let me know pretty often, so I said, "Okay. I will check back another day." The employee did not let me walk away and insisted I showed her what I was looking for and she gladly stated she would look in the back for me. I told her it was not a big deal at all as the store was now closed. The employee said, "No. You are here. I am going to check for you. We've just been so busy all day we have not had time to restock." She came back with exactly what I needed, and we are now best friends- except I am disappointed in myself as I did not get her name. The store still had about 10 customers in it, yet every employee was willing to help people get what they needed instead of rushing them out. I haven't seen customer service like that in a LONG time! So, thank you to the ladies at Lakeshore Learning Orland Park location for making my day! Lifetime customer over here!

The newest location on 94th is a massive downgrade. The building appears to be a third of the size of the old building and it is a very long not wide hallway. I cannot stress enough that the way that the store is laid out are for people to go through the aisles is like a one-way traffic system. If there's two people walking a toward each other they have to turn sideways and squeeze by, which is ridiculous. Going from the old building to this one seems like a very troublesome downgrade for everybody, mainly for the customers. Maybe they'll expand like they did at the last store, but I doubt it since they are clearly trying to save money by moving out of the old space on La Grange.
