Went here a while back and am just finally getting to my review. This is hands down the best…read morechicken and waffles i've had in my entire life. I could eat this every day for the rest of my life it's that good. The cocktails were ridiculously good, so good i may have to make a trip to london just to have them again. Stop on by if you want some fantastic food in a chill atmosphere!

I wanted something with at least one good veggie option, they wanted something with meat, and it had to be somewhere in-between Camden and Canary Wharf, not too pricey, and ideally close to the city because otherwise our Italian friend probably wouldn't make it. And lo and behold.... THE FAT BEAR!!! It was all we wanted and more! This place is sort of tucked away and up some stairs above a pub. It's really just a room and a half, which makes it super cozy and they have a pretty awesome looking bar. It's got warm lighting which makes the atmosphere really nice. Their cocktails were delightful and the service was excellent. I will make a very strange observation that someone working there had a very drunk friend who just sort of made herself at home. Then more joined and it turned into me watching this table of really really drunk people trying to order food. Two of them ended up just falling asleep. It was super strange. Anyway, me being distracted aside, I really loved the cocktail I ordered- Sloe Boat To China, and everyone else seemed happy with theirs. I was dying to try the pimiento cheese starter and the fried pickles. The cheese was particularly sharp and delicious. The pickles were good, but quite skinny (I mean come on, you're in an American restaurant I was expecting some serious pickles). The vegan gumbo was super spicy and delicious. I was impressed and enjoyed it. My husband dropped the ball and ordered the regular jambalaya (with sausage) rather than the seafood one which broke my heart a little bit, because I really wanted to try it. You know, I guess that means we'll just have to come back. Oh also another bonus, this place has brisket which is really hard to find. I can't say how it tastes but my friend said he defo approves (am I becoming more British with these words, or just more annoying?) Anyway, to finish it off I had the oreo cheesecake which the bomb. I love oreos. And it tasted like oreo. So all was right with the world. A wonderful place to come if you have people who want to try American food, or if you have out of town Americans who are too scared to try other food, or if you have hungry friends that want to try cajun food, or if you just want to try some really yummy food.

Thank you and cheers Berners Tavern!…read moreOn another recent trip from our home in Nashville Tennessee to London on 10/15/25 we were delighted to have a chance to visit Berners for our third time and have never been disappointed and actually always wowed but this last visit exceeded even the others. Why? Well, for starters we always sit at the bar and marvel at the pretty view and receive fabulous service, this time we had the extra pleasure of Anuj's (ADeokante) five star service!WOW what a shining star he is to this establishment!I hope y'all know what a treasured employee you have in him.His bar skills are top notch to be certain, in addition his professionalism, care to EVERY detail, his care about our experience and ensuring it was outstanding, along with his wonderful warm engaging personality which added to our experience, just so welcoming! He gave excellent service,in this day it can be the rare exception to receive such so we were incredibly impressed and grateful to experience. We asked about Indian fare tips and he gave a great suggestion we took him up on. Our food (DELICIOUS) and cocktails (DIVINE) at Berners were once again enjoyed in one of if not the most stunning restaurants in London. Thank you Berners for being a stand out and for a lovely evening out and memory made,we can't to return as y'all are our favorite spot when in London. To Anuj: the sky's the limit for you, pursue your dreams wherever they take you, we're certain whatever you do or wherever you go you'll shine brightly in your field, you are perfect where you are a d as you are adding sparkle to Berners and we do hope to find you there when we come next time! Cheers to you Sir!If you make it out to Nashville for a trip please look us up we'll reciprocate with southern hospitality and travel tips! Well done Berners and may your continued success be blessed! Don and Cindie Caron

Come for the ambiance, stay for the food. I came here with a large group of people for a corporate…read moreevent, and everyone had great things to say about the experience. First, the space is very ornate and classy, with thoughtful decor that captures your attention as soon as you enter. The service was generally good, though certain drink orders took a very long time, and it also took a while for us to get more water. Whenever napkins were left on the table, even if we were sitting there, someone would grab them and fold them neatly, which I thought was a nice touch. Now, the food and drinks. We had a prix fixe menu. I really enjoyed the shrimp salad as a starter and the bread was fine. Of the main dishes, I liked the beef pasta and the cauliflower the best. The steak was okay, the potatos were nice too. The fish didn't have as much flavor/seasoning as I had hoped. The ice cream was okay, but I didn't love it. I did enjoy my espresso martini to cap it off! Overall, if you're looking for upscale dining, with an upscale vibe and upscale price, this is a good spot for you.

I decided to return early the next morning, and we were seated quickly. The staff is friendly and attentive. The cafe is quirky with shelves of vintage books and customer napkin art. You read that correctly - napkin art. A craft of water with fresh mint came out quickly. We ordered Americana coffees and I had the Eggs Drury. The food came out fairly quickly. My poached eggs were served on a massive bed of bacon and fresh made English muffins. The English bacon was incredibly delicious. It is no wonder that there are lines waiting to dine here. My husband had one of their premade breakfast sandwiches, made on fresh rolls, which he loved. There was a service charge added to the bill. I would definitely recommend and return.

I ordered the chorizo sandwich; the bread had a good crunch and the sun dried tomato added a bonus pop of flavor. The real winner and bar-setter for me was their iced vanilla latte. I'm not sure if it was the espresso or the vanilla syrup they used but it was probably the best latte I had. Inside the restaurant has lots of character and you can get more info on the decorations. Employees were kind and handled the business of the day with ease. If anyone happens to see this from the cafe, I'd really love to know what vanilla syrup is used as I'm still thinking about that latte weeks later!
