I stayed here for a work trip! I was bummed that the restaurant and bar was closed. I couldn't take advantage of those! When you first walk in it smells like an estate sale. But that's goes with the history of it and long-standing of it right? Idk The employees were super nice and helpful when I asked questions because I'm new to the area. The room was nice and cold but at night I felt like it would get hot out of nowhere even when I had the cooler on 69. Very convenient area, less than 10 minutes from everything. I especially liked that even though it didn't have a gym they gave us day passes to the Power Zone Gym. Good partnership and smart for visitors. They don't advertise it though. Which I found quite odd, I only ended up finding out from the front desk person because I went to get a water and told her I was going to the gym. Otherwise I wouldn't have known and would've paid for the $7 day pass price at the gym. Isn't bad, but I highly suggest they advertise that partnership. It's a great addition. Plus it's walking distance. I liked that I was able to park right up front.

Ana was an amazing help. Ana was very accommodating, very kind, and professional . She went above and beyond for my Grandmother and her friends. I really appreciated how she connected with my grandma and her friends. Very clean. Nice place to eat in the Hotel the 333 . There was lots of parking (in the front of the hotel there was handicap parking)and on the side and the back. The only downside of the hotel is there's no handicap shower. There is an elevator that the staff (Ana) helped us in and out of .

After a quick search for things to do in Douglas, Arizona; I knew that I had to check out the Gadson Hotel. STAR #1: Rich in history! Every stone and pane of glass in The Gadsen Hotel offers up a wonderful insight into the history of, not only The Gadsen Hotel, but Douglas. There's a great feature about the grand opening of the hotel in the lobby. There's also some interesting info about the hotel's connection with Pancho Villa to the right of the grand staircase. STAR #2: Super friendly staff! As I made my way into the lobby, I knew it may be odd if I just started poking around the hotel. So I approached the desk and asked if they'd mind me taking some pictures and reading the informational signage. The concierge was all smiles and let me know where I could roam without batting an eye. So kind! STAR #3: Plenty of amenities! Saddle and Spur Tavern is located just off the lobby for all your dinning and drinking needs. There's also an ice cream and pastry shop named Casa Segovia next to the tavern for those sweet treats. STAR #4: Event space! They offer up space to host a variety of events in style. I'm so glad that I chose to check out The Gadsen Hotel during our brief stay in Douglas. Definitely worth stopping by!

I have a long fascination with border towns. It doesn't matter if it's a city or simply a few structures in utter desolation. Border towns are the jumping off point to travel dreams and I like to think a more eclectic collection of characters inhabit places like these. It takes a long time to drive to Douglas so it's not the kind of place you'll pass through accidentally. If you're here, it's because you arrived on purpose for one reason or another. There isn't much to Douglas itself anymore. It's a rougher place that has certainly seen better days but images of this town have remained in my mind and I had to return for at least one reason: The Gadsden Hotel. The 20th century playwright, Thornton Wilder, passed through Douglas when his car broke down. After checking in to the Gadsden, he kept extending his stay: it lasted two months. I didn't have time to check in but I plan to do so in the future. The ornate lobby features marble, Tiffany-inspired stained glass windows, and comfy old leather chairs to while away some time in a book that you've always wanted to read. Depending upon the time of day, hazy light filters into the lobby like vestigial puffs of cigarette smoke from a bygone era. Some neon signs, potted plants, an unattended shoe shine stand, an old tavern, a tin-ceilinged dining room: the Gadsden checks the boxes that fuel nostalgia and romance. Hollywood and television have found this place over the years. Wedding receptions now routinely take over the lobby. If you're staying in one of the rooms on the mezzanine level, the free ear plugs may come in handy. The Gadsden seems an ideal place to disengage from the world and let your imagination run wild. Thornton Wilder found inspiration here. Maybe you can, too.

Beautiful historic hotel. So much to see just inside there. They have a small museum honoring military pow hero's. Large stain glass windows and old telephones. Grand piano. In the center of town. So many little shops and a cute little park across the way. Everyone in town is polite and helpful. Great little getaway

The bathroom was small, but back in 1929 that's just how they built them, clean and had the old subway tile still intact.

This motel is now being advertised as Extended Stay Douglas. The online photos are of a totally…read moredifferent motel. The Manager's office was filthy with the same partially consumed beverage containers from the day before sitting on the table where you are supposed to sit and wait. The rooms are advertised as retro style but that must be another term for old and falling apart. Upon entering my "un-numbered" room I immediately noticed a dirty floor complete with dead cockroach. The towels were worn like the ones you use at home to wash the car. The window curtains were so sheer you could see right through them. At night with the lights on you are on display for the wandering strange people to peer in and see you. You have to leave the lights and tv off so as not to be observed--I felt very unsafe. The bathroom looked old and there was no hot water. Cold showers for $67 per night? AC was either on or off--no temperature control. Tried to close the curtains and the whole window curtain set up fell on the floor. Tried to call the manager for help with the curtains but no one answered, so, I just picked up my stuff and left--pretty unsafe to be in full view of people wandering about the place with no curtains for privacy. As I drove off there were 3 Sherriff's SUV driving into the parking lot!! Next day went to ask to check out early and manager refused to answer both my knocks on the door and my repeated phone calls for help. It was 8:00 am. Janitor came over and told me it was the managers day off (really? no way to check out because it's the manager's day off?) He said he was told to tell me I would get a full refund...7 days later they still have my $200.00. Nice! That is called stealing!!! The janitor said they were under construction--well, finish construction and then advertise nice clean remodeled rooms. Don't mislead the public with other facilities' photos! If you are under construction, you're not safe for public use!!!!!!!
