    If I had seen an honest review like this before signing a lease here, we never would have moved…read moreinto this building. The five-star reviews give a very misleading impression of what living here is actually like. The biggest issue we experienced was the complete lack of accountability from management when problems arose. Instead of addressing issues directly, the response was consistently to shift blame onto residents rather than take responsibility. You can even see this pattern in how management responds to reviews on Google. Several one-star reviews are met with responses claiming they "cannot verify the reviewer as a resident," which conveniently allows them to dismiss the concern entirely. Shortly after moving in, we submitted a maintenance request because our unit was overheating and we needed to run the AC. A technician came to the apartment, was inside for less than two minutes, did not inspect the unit at all, and told us there was nothing that could be done because of outdoor temperatures. The ticket was then marked "resolved." For the next five months our apartment remained extremely hot. We had to sleep with the windows open just to cool the unit down and regularly woke up sweating. We later learned from neighbors that they run their AC year-round without issue. In other words, the information we were given was incorrect and the system had never actually been inspected. The problem was only fixed months later when a different technician properly evaluated and repaired it. When I tried to address this with management, they claimed the issue continued because we did not submit another maintenance request. That explanation makes no sense. We were told directly by maintenance that nothing could be done, so there would have been no reason to keep submitting work orders for the same issue. Instead of acknowledging the mistake, the responsibility was shifted onto us. There were also situations where basic consideration for residents seemed to be an afterthought. Shortly after we moved in, the flooring in the unit above us was replaced. The construction noise was extremely loud (loud enough that I couldn't work from home and it terrified our dog) yet no notice was given so residents could plan accordingly. During this same time we were dealing with a traumatic pregnancy loss that required surgery and thousands of dollars in medical expenses. We provided documentation and asked if there was any flexibility with the lease so we could spend time with family while recovering. The response from management was extremely cold and dismissive with absolutely no empathy. The lease terms are also misleading. The lease references a 60-day notice and two months of rent, which most people would reasonably interpret as about two months to exit. In reality it amounts to four months of rent to break the lease. Had we have known this, we never would have signed. The building also has only two elevators and no freight elevator, which makes moving extremely difficult. Soundproofing is another issue. You can clearly hear normal conversations inside apartments when standing in the hallway, and from inside our unit we could regularly hear everything happening in the hallway. The fire alarms also go off far more frequently than in any other building we've lived in (twice within three days once), and after these incidents, there was no communication sent to residents. For the price this building charges, the experience simply does not match what is advertised. If you are looking for true luxury apartments in the area, I would strongly encourage you to also look at buildings like The Fynn, The Vyne, or The Marke, which offer much newer spaces and amenities for similar pricing. Unfortunately many of these issues only became clear after we had already signed the lease and were locked into the terms. If you are considering signing a lease here, I strongly recommend reading the one-star reviews carefully. After living here, we unfortunately found them to reflect our experience far more accurately than the five-star ones.

The pool area is the best of the best; giving just enough privacy from the streets but not blocking the sunshine. There is a conference room, community room and a theatre room. The folks who work here do their best to make it like home for the tenants. I highly recommend!

    The owner Charles Walsh does not care one bit about the staff or residence of this building. It…read moretakes him years to fix and repair any problem within the apartment. The place has mice and he does nothing to clean up the problem. The hallways are so outdated and smell from old carpet. The third floor smells so bad you have to hold your noise to leave the floor The plumping is a disaster and he just puts cheep fixes on it. Living here was like living in the slums. This is the slums of elmhurst. Think twice before you rent an apartment there.

They say unit has been cleaned, but not professionally. Black mold in washer and shower ceiling, linoleum floors filthy, carpet suuuper old ( slate blue!), and even feels dirty to walk on. Basement parking and storage smells like mold and mildew and no spots available for bikes. Make sure you take the elevator down to LOWER garage ( in back of building-they won't show you on tour). Exercise room looks good, but treadmills and elliptical don't work. Have one of those bikes with a fan for the front wheel-- omg. So that's pretty useless. Party room is time warp from the 70's!! Good for a 70's theme party though!!Same with the beautiful, red carpet in dimly lit hallways. Office manager, Linda is older lady, feels helpless, knows the owner well, blames owner that he won't change things ie carpet, hall carpets, leaky noisy windows (CCCCOLDDD in winter; yes, train and train HORNS-- make you levitate right out of bed)! Owner has multiple properties in Elmhurst, but seems like all are the same. Inherited them from Dad, and thinks they will just retain their value!! They WERE once nice, but no maintenance or upkeep until something breaks. Meanwhile, you can see him weekly with his lime green Dodge Viper Saturdays at Lombard street night! Maybe Kenmore apartments??
