The whole experience of farming for a day is the Sandwell Mill Farm allows the visitors to get close to a range of animals exploring a bit more about the agricultural environment. For the kids it literally means having a lot of fun feeding some cows, goats, poultries and ponies. There is a gift shop where you can also find some bag of food especially prepared for these animals, by the way. If the weather helps, it's highly recommended to bring your own food. I remember not resisting some ice cream cone in my visit to Forge Mill farm, but I just wouldn't repeat the experience of eating next to the cows again because the strong smell of farm animals and food are not a good combination. The park is huge and there is space for even picnics, anyway! They are open every day, for 10 pm to 4.30pm and I think you are going to love the whole experience.

They do kids parties and have four themed rooms (Pirates, Princess, Pitstop and Undersea) for them to eat in before they're let loose on the equipment. There are two sectons to CBW (isn't that a fantastic name?? I just imagine a kid going around with cymbals, delighting in making a horrendous mess), one a play area for bigger kids, and another for smaller toddlers. The climbing structures and mazes are so big and well built, my 6'5" husband wound his way round them without it falling down! There are plenty of tables and chairs for parents and parties to sit at and drink a decent cup of tea while waving at their children as they get into minor playground scuffles with other equally charming children. They cater for children's parties and large events (though if you want to hold your corporate event here, you may want to seek some therapy), and the food they do is pretty decent. If you go on a typical winter weekend, it will be slammed with tots, but the place is big enough to find a seat, if you don't mind the crowds. The staff aren't particularly helpful or particularly awful, just doing their job and getting on with things. The bathrooms are a bit dodgy, and absolutely freezing cold, but clean enough. All in all, if you need a place to take your screaming offspring, CBW will give you, ahem, bang for your buck.

There are also pigs, the odd cow and horse too. All of the animals are pretty much under shelter too do it makes it a good place to go even in rainy weather. The playgrounds are really rather good. The thing that all children and adults alike seem to enjoy hugely is the giant inflatable pillow. It is what it says, but is great fun. There's also an indoor play area which caters really well for younger children too. You can take a picnic, but there is a restaurant which sells kids lunch boxes. You can also buy animal food on entry so that you can feed the animals as you go round. It's not a cheap pace to go, but for a day out I think it's pretty good value for money.

Its a beautiful working farm set on the outskirts of Tamworth with lots of beautiful scenery available nearby. I found it to be well laid out generally and easy to get round even with a buggy. Besides the main area housing the animals there is an indoor play area featuring toy tractors etc,. (for under 5s only I believe), an outdoor park facility (think traditional wood), plenty of grass and seating for pinics, a fab gift shop, and a decent restaurant (with fresh farm produce for sale). Parties are available with various options including a tour, hot or cols meal and playtime on the equipment. They also do craft based parties for older kids, and a 'star in your own play' option for any budding 'luvvies'. My son has been to a few of these parties over the years and they have always been well-organised and the grub was spot on. They eat in a beautiful converted barn that is decorated for the paty child. Its probably I would say got a cut off age of about 6 though, unless your child is particularly into animals specifically. We have attended other events here, they do try and do seasonal stuff - like egg hunts at Easter, and a nativity tour at Christmas - you get the idea. I would imagine this would make a good school trip location too - as there are many interactive and educational aspects. The only one issue ever I have encountered here is with parking - when there are a couple of parties on they can get very short of space.

The two guys who pulled the short straw and had to man the evening shift were full of banter, and once we'd spent the first hour exploring the whole arena, set up two team games for my ultra-competitive friends and me. The whole night was hilarious, and exhausting in equal measure. A great way to celebrate my 30th birthday!

What they have done is taken an area of Tamworth where there was nothing/very little for kids to do and created a little goldmine (not jealous at all that I did not think of it first!!). The unit is in the middle of an Industrial estate and although that sounds odd - its literally walking distance from one of the biggest housing estates in Tamworth. They have transformed the inside spectacularly to accomodate the following; Large softplay/ ball pool for older children with amazing slides and tunnels. Smaller softplay area especially designed for toddlers. Enclosed netted area with goal posts and basketball hoops. large expanse of tables/seating for food. Comfy relaxed seating area with sofas. Specially painted themed party rooms (x3) Various drinks/popcorn/toy machines and a couple of rides for toddlers. Upstairs seating area/vewing gallery. Go kart area. The parties start from £6.50 and there are loads of different packages available depending on whether its a boy/girl. They have a wide range of hot and cold food available( not badly priced - quality just average- service poor). They even do hair cuts!! The environment is bright, stimulating, clean and above all safe. The security there is very good - they have doors that only staff can open to exit the main area. As I have just mentioned the food not outstanding, but other than that a fab place for younger kids to let off steam and run around. I would say its suitable up to about age 9. One other drawback - no licensed bar!!. I was tempted to take off a star for this - but then conceded its designed for kids.

The fine folks at Rainbow World bought out a large warehouse on a large industrial estate, and turned it into a play park full of slides, swings, ball pits and fun things to climb around on. There is also a mini go-karting area for £1 extra, with a size limit and minimum, but it's great fun! The prices are a bit high on weekends, but if you stay for a good few hours, it's worth the cash. The lighting is harsh, the decor is twee and it reminds you that once, you had weekends to go to quaint, tasteful cafes, and now spend time freezing on football pitches and drinking lukewarm Nescafe in equally freezing indoor play parks, because a little person calls the shots. Rainbow World can be rented out for children's parties in part or in full. As play parks go, it's not very large (Crash Bang Wallop is much better), but it does get the job done. A nice feature is the small basketball cum football court off to one side, and also a smaller "play grotto" for toddlers and tiny tots. There is food here, but imagine your worst frozen-pub-food nightmare, and that's what you should expect. I'd go for a Slushee, personally. The staff are some of the rudest, least hygienically presented I've ever seen. I've never been smiled at when at Rainbow World. The neat feature of not being able to leave or enter without someone opening the door for you means that staff can see you waiting at the door, roll their eyes and stomp over to open you out without a word. It's all very couth, really. Be warned: there are only about 15 parking spaces, and traffic wardens regularly go around looking for money to be made for the council. All in all, if you're desperate to give your tot something to do in the winter months, Rainbow World is alright, but it's really best avoided.
