Hoo Farm Animal Kingdom - Meeting the Meerkats - Zookeeper experience

    Hoo Farm Animal Kingdom

Hoo Farm is a large child friendly farm based near Telford in Shropshire…read more My boyfriend and I visited Hoo Farm when we saw on a flyer that they were holding 'Animal Olympics' intrigued we headed on down. It's soon pretty apparent that this is mainly a child and family-focussed attraction, there are loads of games and activities for children to take part in throughout the farm site. Despite this, we had a wonderful time. We got to pet and feed lots of animals including cows, sheep, chicken, deer, goats, pigs and rabbits. Also at the farm are Alpacas, Wallaby, Meerkats, donkeys, shire horses, ponies, parrots, limas, owls, foxes, ferrets and many more. The actual olympic events were lots of fun and none of the animals were harmed or seemed in any distress. The main events were sheep hurdles and cross country goat racing which were pretty funny although the dog ability event was even funnier as both dogs did completely the opposite to what they were told! The only thing we didn't like is we hate to see large birds in small cages and would have preferred if the parrots had larger enclosures like the Owls. There's a nice little gift shop and an onsite cafe plus woodland walk and picnic area. I would highly recommend this for a family day out but adults don't be put off - we loved it!

Excellent family day out in Telford, Shropshire, with an excellent array of British, and exotic…read moreanimals. Reasonably priced (And admission included if you book an animal experience), and really little ones free in, it's a good place to go if you have a love for animals, or children to entertain. (I've also heard that they do rather fab school trips, which with how friendly the staff are, and the ability to interact with and see so many animals, I'm not surprised). Expect your standard farm yard animals, in their most adorable forms, cheeky goats, parrots that say hello, beautiful scottish wildcats, a range of raptors, otters, warthogs, forest animals such as hedgehogs and foxes, meerkats, servals, all sorts, a really nice range, to be honest! We arrived quite late in the day, but if you are there from early on, you really can make a full day of it by sticking around for different talks and meetings. There's even sheep racing, and little feedbags you can buy- palms flat though guys! And when you need to feed yourselves there's a little tea room and a picnic area too.

This is a fun, interactive indoor kids play area in an old industrial estate near Walsall…read more Basically, a large warehouse packed full of every windy twisty slide, enormous ball pit and fun climbing structure a kid could ever want. There are two sectons to CBW (isn't that a fantastic name?? I just imagine a kid going around with cymbals, delighting in making a horrendous mess), one a play area for bigger kids, and another for smaller toddlers. The climbing structures and mazes are so big and well built, my 6'5" husband wound his way round them without it falling down! There are plenty of tables and chairs for parents and parties to sit at and drink a decent cup of tea while waving at their children as they get into minor playground scuffles with other equally charming children. They cater for children's parties and large events (though if you want to hold your corporate event here, you may want to seek some therapy), and the food they do is pretty decent. If you go on a typical winter weekend, it will be slammed with tots, but the place is big enough to find a seat, if you don't mind the crowds. The staff aren't particularly helpful or particularly awful, just doing their job and getting on with things. The bathrooms are a bit dodgy, and absolutely freezing cold, but clean enough. All in all, if you need a place to take your screaming offspring, CBW will give you, ahem, bang for your buck.

Great place for the kids to burn off energy. my two boys were restless after a 3 hour car journey…read moreso they loved being able to have fun on the soft play and did not want to leave.
