One thing about me is that I absolutely love sweets, so I couldn't resist stopping by this candy…read morestore as I passed by. First off, I have to give a shoutout to the owner--he was incredibly friendly and even let my girlfriend sample some fudge. The store had an endless variety of both new and old-school candies to choose from. They even had this really cool jelly bean machine with a wide assortment of flavors to bag up. Before leaving, I made sure to grab some treats to share with my family too! I can't wait to come back in the summer to see what new goodies they'll have.

Or...perhaps even for the days when you are? Maybe it's ice cream in town and candy back at the vacation rental. Sweet Haven ticks all the boxes: various small candy in bulk; taffy in bulk; old-fashioned packaged candy; higher-end chocolates; Jelly Bellys; and of course FUDGE. It's a dangerous and delightful place. I'm not sure about the prices. This stuff *seems* expensive, but since you don't buy an armload of candy very often (do you??), it's hard to tell. So just go ahead and treat yourself (and your kids I guess, but mostly you, because sugar is bad for kids) and see whether you can make it last beyond the journey home at the end of the trip.

Rocket Fizz is like a retro candy store from the 1960s, carrying every candy brand imaginable. It…read moreconjures up nostalgia from a bygone era before people started buying in bulk from warehouse stores and online. The service is very friendly. A lot of the candy here I'd never heard of before. The candy and drinks are from every region of the USA as well as from Europe and Asia that can't be found in most stores. Shopping here is a fun and unique experience with something for everyone. I bought peanut butter Goo Goo Clusters from Nashville and Twin Bing from Sioux City, Iowa, both candies I have not seen sold in my neck of the woods. Rocket Fizz is a must visit when in Kalamazoo.

This is a definite gem in the Kalamazoo Mall…read more It's an old school soda, candy, and sweets shop that sells everything from glass bottles sodas to Thai chips and exotic taffies. Prices are very reasonable (considering the cost of many of these items) and it's a fun little stop if you're in the downtown Kalamazoo area. It's just a 3 min walk from the Raddison so if you're visiting drop on by. The place has a super fun vibe, with a wall of comedic sodas and memes printed throughout the shop. The staff is super friendly and will take requests for items they don't currently sell and call you when they get it. Highly recommend!!

It's February, which means it's time to start thinking about buying sweets for your sweetie. We…read morecame in because I'm obsessed with cashews and we wanted to check out their prices. We step in and nobody is in sight but within about 20 seconds someone came into the main room and greeted us. We were looking at all the sweet treats and settled on 6 milk chocolate peanut butter cups for 60 cents each. I enjoyed them, but it would have been an extra bonus if they had used sea salt like they did with different items and charged a touch more. Everything was reasonably priced and they had some unique items, like chocolate covered orange peels. If you're looking for some nuts, chocolate or gummies for your significant other and are in the Kalamazoo area I'd come in and check them out. You won't be disappointed.

Some things are made here and other things are bought, fyi. I do think this is info that should be apparent and not something you should have to ask, since everything is repackaged with their own label. They do roast the nuts and make the brittle there. I normally love chocolate dipped pretzels but the coating on those and the graham crackers is way too thick, disappointing. The whole point is to have the contrast between the crunch and the chocolate. The prices are reasonable and the woman who helped me was very nice. I would stop in again to try some other things.
