While waiting for a Yelp event to start on October 20th my husband and I stopped by Rocket Fizz and my inner child came bursting out.  Taffy, gummies, chocolate, everything your sugar loving self loves.  I appreciate their Harry Potter area because most places only have every flavor beans, chocolate wands and maybe chocolate frogs if your lucky.  They had all that plus gummy frogs, magic cards and house themed playing cards. Their soda section was quite large also which isn't something you always see in a candy store.  Honestly I really just loved the entire store and will definitely be begging to come back (esspecially to grab some Harry Potter candy).  Thanks for having such a cute place!  Be back asap!

Candy, soda, novelties, tchotchkes and more at this must-stop every time I find myself in Kalamazoo. I much prefer it over the Grand Rapids location because this store's staff, location, layout, and clientele are far superior. Shopped on Small Business Saturday in 2020 and the owner was dressed up as Willy Wonka, ushering guests inside to support the animal rescue organization that was receiving a percentage of that day's sales. In 2021, they plan to have a pop up toy store right next door from Black Friday to Christmas!

Talk about a kid in a candy store. I had stopped in Rocket Fizz a time or two, but after taking my husband last weekend, it's time for a review. Customer service is EXCELLENT and beyond friendly. They're very helpful at making suggestions and making sure you get the best bang for your buck. They have a huge selection of candies and sodas from all over the world. Super fun way to let out your inner kid, or to try some exotic treats!

Alright I had to come back and I'm so glad I did. The selection has definitely expanded since the last time I've been here! The unique gag gifts, the international foods, and All. The. Candy! It's no wonder this location draws a crowd and I'm impressed at the items they've added to their collection. I had to get a pouch of lychee jelly! It was so yummy!

This is a place worth making a return trip. Rocket Fizz specializes in soda, candy, and wacky gifts. It's like a retro Willy Wonka hangout. There are reproduction metallic signs all over, any kind of candy you could think of, and soda flavors that make your eyebrows reach for the sky. We took home some key lime, lemon meringue, and radioactive flavors. I also got a Big Red because I can't find that stuff anywhere. My nephew had a blast looking at all the stuff they have to offer and he enjoyed talking all things Marvel with the owner who was a really friendly fellow. Parking is limited around this area and be careful how you maneuver inside the store. Wouldn't take much for a bump to send bottles crashing to your feet.

Hungry? Thirsty? Whether you've a hankering to satisfy your sweet tooth, or you're a connoisseur of interesting beverages, Kalamazoo's newest shop is for you. Local Kalamazoo couple Tom and Heather have opened their independently-owned and operated branch of Rocket Fizz, a nation-wide company with a great niche. Here's what you'll find at Kalamazoo's newest downtown store. Countless bottles of intriguing beverages (non-alcoholic, of course). Our family vacationed in Florida when I was a little kid. What I remember, besides the incredibly long drive from Michigan, and the gorgeous sounds of the waves, was the peach nehi pop that was available down there. I could NOT GET ENOUGH. If you've got a similar memory, then hit up Rocket Fizz to reconnect with your past. There is a wall of coolers, if you want your pop cold, or shelves and shelves unfolding with countless pop options, if you want to purchase some for later. CANDY! Candy of all kinds, from taffy to prepackaged to joke candy. I was a bit worried, since I am not a candy person. DON'T FEAR. They have dark chocolate. Of particular note was an ENTIRE WALL of bins of flavored taffy. Peanut butter and jelly? YEP. It was difficult to ascertain all the flavors because EVERYONE was getting some. No, I did not cross-check any kids to get the kind I wanted. :) But wait! There's more! (cue game show prize music) If you're looking for a quirky gift, you should find it here. From gag jokes (like the invisible dog you're walking dog leash) to funny and historic tin signs, you'll probably spend a bit of time finding the perfect gift for yourself (and others). This is a fun addition to the Kalamazoo Mall. It's located right next to the Union, and is a bright, airy space. This morning, on opening day, it was very crowded, with a checkout line that ran almost around the whole store. I predict great success for Rocket Fizz here - and happiness for us Kalamazooans, with another fun, wacky store to frequent.

If you've ever wanted to try ranch, dill pickle, or buttered popcorn soda -this is the place for you. They have an insane variety of crazy pops and retro candies with a soft backdrop of 80's metal/hairband music. My husband was in love. However, prices are steep. Each soda is $2.29 (combo packs knock a little off) and the candy is unmarked which led to a bit of a surprise at the register -we spent $25 on 8 sodas, gum balls, a blowpop, a Charleston chew, and Zotz. If you have a keen eye, you can get many of the beverages and candies for half the price elsewhere. Hefty prices aside, it really is a cool little store. Note: because the sodas are specialty, you can only return your empty deposits back to the store

I visited this place when i was looking for new different chocolate brands They have chocolate bars, noga, toffee, candies from all around the world. I eas glad to try new stuff other than m&ms or oreo stereotypes Also there are around 100 type of soda flavors. It was funny to find Madonna and ranch flavor!! They also sell some retro stuff and games. I love this place, although price range somewhat high but i Always visit it when i go to the downtown to grab a cookie or a chocolate bar .

This store is the kind of place that makes it worth going down and fighting through the traffic and the lack of parking and everything. On our most recent trip up to Kalamazoo, we decided to try our luck downtown just to come and find this place. We heard it had a lot of old sodas and candies and imported stuff, and, well... it sounded like a good blast from both of our pasts, and we had a bit with nothing really to do. So off we went to the Kalamazoo Mall, and the luck was with us as we managed to somehow find a parking space. A bit of walking, and we came across one of the most interesting windows we've seen in a while... As we walked in, the first thing you really see is the side wall. That's where both the absolute crazy selections of saltwater taffy and their huge selection of niche, regional and retro soda are. I strongly think this place has every single flavor of taffy possible, and then some. I didn't really get a chance to look, but considering the taffy bins take up a huge part of the wall makes me wonder if anyone's ever counted or even tasted every single flavor they have. But the draw for us today? The regional/niche soda selection. It's fairly well known that there are certain soda brands outside of the majors (Coke/Pepsi/RC, etc.) that you just can't get in all areas of the country- stuff like Faygo, for example. While we can go and chug all the Rock'n'Rye and Red Pop we like, our friends over in places like Iowa and Florida can't, much like we can't seem to find stuff that they have by the barrelful down there but we can't up here. Me? I'm a nut for a good root beer, and a good ginger ale- as well as cool-looking labels. So, of course, I went with the six-pack. I'm hoping to get a bigger selection for my birthday- they offer packages of twelve, and I think even up to 20 different bottles. Not to mention all of the novelty sodas they manage to stock, too. No, I wasn't courageous enough to try corn or dirt soda. I don't think I ever will be. If you're in the mood for a snack, though, this place also stocks a lot of new and retro candy- and you can even find grab bags of stuff for a discount. I picked up some Austrian wafer cookies with different fillings, and they were good- but not a lot of the candy/cookies are marked, so... be prepared to drop a bit more than you might think. It's still a really good value, though! If you like, they also sell a bit of art and some other things- we saw some funny tin signs up on the wall, and maybe one or two of them might find their way home with me sometime. We're going to be back, of course- it just might take a while because of all the parking difficulties!

    The danger zone!

While waiting to attend a function downtown, I stopped in Rocket Fizz to see what the hoopla was all about. It's a kitschy lil store specializing in retro candy, non-standard soda varieties, and wacky toys/gifts/etc. Nice setup allows you to maneuver around the shop and check out the inventory leisurely. I was greeted upon entering but there was no other interaction until I checked out. Not that there needed to be, but I've been to other successful shops of this genre and a common thread is lots of casual friendly interaction with potential customers. The candy selection is one of the best around. When I first moved to Kzoo around 9 years ago, there was another retro candy store down by the State Theater that had a fantastic retro candy selection. Rocket Fizz is near that level. I easily located all of my favorites, and even some versions of old standbys that I didn't know existed! I'm not a huge soda fan but I must admit they probably have the best soda selection in the entire Kalamazoo area. The only place that even comes close would be that arcade in Gobles. So if you love soda or want to try some crazy flavors, this is the place for you! Overall, a great place to kill 15-20 minutes reminiscing and to grab some ammo for your war on strong teeth :)

Sweet, sweet goodness! So many sodas and peculiar drinks I had never heard of. Tons of nostalgic candies from yesteryear (aka: my years)! If you like taffy in a wide array of unfamiliar flavors, this is the place for you. They even have an app you can download to identify the flavors once you get them home and have NO idea what you're eating. Staff was extremely helpful and fun and everyone that walked in walked in grinning from ear-to-ear. Manager saw us filling a bag with different candy and said, "You know the rule to filling your candy bag, right? Fill it FULL, FULL, FULL!!" (Like we needed our arms twisted!) So, mosey in there for a good time and fill those bags up!

I do think this is info that should be apparent and not something you should have to ask, since everything is repackaged with their own label. They do roast the nuts and make the brittle there. I normally love chocolate dipped pretzels but the coating on those and the graham crackers is way too thick, disappointing. The whole point is to have the contrast between the crunch and the chocolate. The prices are reasonable and the woman who helped me was very nice. I would stop in again to try some other things.
