The atmosphere here is part café, part ice cream parlor, part farmer's marker, and lastly part route 66 all smashed together. You order up at a counter for the café and pay then they bring your food out when done. For the Ice cream parlor part at a different counter you order, get your ice cream, then pay. They have about 10 tables or you can eat outside. I ordered a Station Cheeseburger Basket ($14.25). This is a 7oz patty and fries. The Burger actually seemed bigger than 7oz. It's never going to make a list of best burgers. However, it is very good. Juicy and tasty. The fires were also very good. Not the worlds greatest like their menu declares, but a good side to a surprisingly good burger. I also got a pulled pork slider ($3). It was a good. Lastly I ordered a Cherry Bomb ($6.50). This is a Cheerwine soda and Vanilla Ice Cream. So basically a Cheerwine float. It was verry good. Making it more of a shake might have been better. However it was unique and very good. The service was good. I got served quickly and everyone was friendly. Overall a 4 star review. Would I return? Yes, everything was good and a fun atmosphere. They also have a food menu that is very reasonably priced and tasty. I didn't take photos of the food, but the coney dog, pulled pork sliders and French fries were delicious!!! The ice cream is always top notch and the flavor I got today, caramel apple and it was amazing. The waffle cones come plain, chocolate covered, chocolate sprinkled, or chocolate and peanuts. The plain was flavorful and thin so it was not so hard or thick to over power the ice cream. The people who work there are all very friendly and accommodating. You never feel that you're unwelcome. Definitely a plus. The inside gives you a feel of an ice cream store in the past. It has some things inside that will remind you of some early childhood memories. The outside is done nicely with seats and tables under a covered area which allows you to mingle and eat your food. The bonus is they have all sorts of fall things for sale such as flowers and pumpkins. The also have some bean bag toss games for all to play while having a hay ride that the family can enjoy ever half hour I believe. That was our first visit and we ordered a corn dog for the child and it was homemade... he loved it. I had a bacon cheeseburger and it was super good. we also had the veggie sandwich which was onion tomato and lettuce and pickles. we thought it was supposed to be grilled but the whole sandwich was cold. ice cream was yummy. July and the flies were terrible. but just a suggestion in the outside eating area ... put the garbage can outside of the tent a ways and see if that helps. Overall the lunch was good. read more

We live this place! It takes the basic diner food and amps it up a notch. It's also a fantastic place that we love taking our friends when they visit from out of town. They change some of their menu seasonally, but there is always something fun to try. As a vegetarian, there are limited options, but I still always am able to find something delicious. The only thing is this diner is not for vegans. My husband loves the hotdogs and then there's always fun burgers to try. I would give Station 66 a 10-Star Rating if I could! I can honestly say, I have never left here disappointed but instead looking forward to my next return. I cannot personally speak for everything on the menu because of all the times that I have been here, I always choose between my two favorites - the Olive Burger or the Chicken Salad Sandwich. However, I have been with others who have ordered their nachos, hot dogs and other burgers and there has never been a complaint. For me, their Olive Burger is one of the best I've ever had - ranking in my top 2 favorites. I was happy to see the 4oz Patty an option this year, which is always cooked to perfection, loaded with olives and topped with a buttery, toasted bun. Their Chicken Salad Sandwich is like none other. I'm not sure if it's the chicken salad or the toasted roll that makes it, but it's definitely a must try. And added bonus, their fries truly are "Fabulous Fries" with plenty of ketchup. Now, onto the reason for random Station 66 runs throughout the summer months - their Ice Cream! It is, hands down, the best in the area. Again, I can't speak for it all because I tend to choose my "old faithful" of Michigan Pothole & Eskimo Kisses but others have always loved what they ordered. The Chicago dog was legit, with the real celery salt bun and electric green relish. However, the BC dog is my new favorite. They butter and toast the bun so it's like a grilled cheese with bacon and a hot dog. Perfection! I also tried the apple and pumpkin fried pies -basically a homemade Hostess pies- as well as a donut. The ice cream shoppe is in the middle of forest and farm country on the corner of 66 and D Drive, north of Athens and south of Battle Creek. The business offers quite a bit more than ice cream, with donuts, sandwiches, hot dogs, fresh fruit, etc., all being available. This afternoon's visit was not the first time we had stopped there: some years ago we were driving back after seeing friends who had retired in Athens, and passed Station 66 during one of its periodic car shows. So we turned around and stopped, and enjoyed some exquisite cars as well as some refreshing Ashby ice cream. The business is really in the middle of Nowhere, yet on this Tuesday afternoon the parking lot stayed busy. There is actually little if no competition; I think the only other ice cream shoppe around might be D'Nicio's Parlour on Columbia, and that's about 7 miles north of Station 66. And Mooville is at least 30 miles north, near Nashville. So Station 66 has the area to themselves. It's a creative location. And the owners of Station 66 have tried to diversify things in order to attract a large swatch of different types of customers. Fonn Mor, an Irish band that had a couple of dates during the Kalamazoo Irish Festival in June, will play here in a couple of weeks. And the annual Car Show a couple weeks after that is always a fun way to see special autos. Today we had a couple of waffle cones: Pistachio Almond for me and Salty Jack (salted caramel ice cream with of salted caramel and butter-toasted peanuts) for my girl. We stopped at this restaurant for ice cream on the way home. The ice cream was good but the homemade waffle cone made it extra special. It was perfect baked and served with a marshmallow at the bottom to avoid leaking. We split an apple cider donut as well and it was the best one I've had since leaving New England. Side trip to score some car parts in Union City on the way to the Gilmore museum via Horrocks in Battle Creek and car parts guy said try station66. Really glad I listened. Let me just put it like this and Yelpers can draw their own conclusions: The 3 different hot dog varieties we ordered came on 3 different kinds of buns! The tomato soup was as tomato soup should be. Pieces and seasoning and texture- no Campbell's Food Services like some many roadside tourist traps. Great meal. Grilled ham and cheese and rueben were both well crafted. Annually we buy our Christmas tree from Station 66. This year there was a beautiful 12 foot fraiser fur sitting up front that we immediately picked. While our tree was getting drilled and wrapped we went inside to check out the menu. As it was chilly and snowing, my wife gravitated to grilled cheese and tomato soup combo. I was feeling more adventurous and asked for a sandwich recommendation. The immediate reply from multiple sources was the Reuben. I contested this, and explained my expectations for a Rueben. I was assured by the owner I wouldn't be disappointed. For dessert I went out of my comfort zone and got a pecan Fry pie. We took our food home, along with all the Christmas gifts we bought from the store. We dove right into the soup and it was very good. I unwrapped my Rueben and reminded myself that expectations are the root of all disappointment. The sandwich was well made and looked delicious. I composed myself and took the first bite and really thought about the experience. It was incredible. I really tried to sort through the flavors and pick out what made it so outstanding. For starters, the rye bread was good. The ratio of bread to meat to thousand island was also good. I think what contributed to the overall greatness was the home made thousand island dressing. Dinner and ice cream at Station 66. They always seem to have a good amount of customers despite being a few miles away from the city. The food is slightly above average and the ice cream is about the same. They offer outdoor seating which is nice of you are looking to relax while you enjoy your food. This particular experience was impacted by a rude customer who started getting loud with another family and their little kids. Customers that were waiting for their food were upset with the situation and others were getting ready to have words with the rude couple. Luckily the situation died down before anything happened. Loved it! Stopped here tonight for some ice cream. They have a huge selection of sundaes. I chose the Pot Hole sundae and yum! I was expecting a simple soft serve cup, but was surprised by a mound of high quality hard serve ice cream piled with toppings. If only I could write a review of just the word love 50 times, but since I can't I will just tell you why I want to. First, of course is their ice cream. It is so hard to find a good pistachio ice cream, and theirs is epic and then they took epic and put almonds in it. I haven't found a flavor I don't like, but pistachio is by far my favorite. And if your sweet tooth is down and out, then they have amazing sandwiches and hot dogs! The first time I had their Reuben I was shocked and awed. I have been to Katz' in NYC and that Reuben was so good, my taste buds decided to miss Katz' just a little less. The sauerkraut is more a red cabbage slaw, I don't like sauerkraut, but I love theirs. Everybody has always been friendly and warm there, and I have also enjoyed their cider, donuts, and local honey as well as fresh produce.
