It's been so long since we've been to SnS... mainly because we haven't seen one so we had to stop during our visit to BC. Things have changed quite a bit when ordering- there are a few kiosks to order from and don't really have any other options to order. Once you place your order, you head over to the drink area. If you got a drink, you have to scan it next to the drink machine to get a cup released. Once your food is ready, they call out your name and you can grab ketchup, napkins, etc on the way back to your seat. We ordered fries- they are pretty thin but tasty! I was a little worried the beef tallow they cook the fries in would be strong, but thankfully it wasn't. We also got the kitkat shake, which was delicious. read more

Ordered a shake. Was asked what size. Confirmed size. Got to window "you didn't order a shake" I said "yes I did, you asked me the size 5 seconds ago" Then the incredibly rude manager yelled at me to go back around and order one. I wasn't charged for the shake but was willing to pay and had my card out. Never going back to this trash place again. Would rather eat McDonald's than put up with this. read more

The fries taste like the grease was old. I took them back on 7/5/2026 @ 3:08pm The manager said he just changed the grease yesterday. He offered new fries, but I didn't want because it would have been in the same grease. I asked for a refund & he said he didn't give refunds. He said he had been there for 16 years & hadn't ever given a refund . Bad tasting food & no refunds. I see why previous reviews were only two stars. read more

Normally I LOVE this Steak 'n Shake, but after my recent experience...they really need to improve. I order the #8 meal deal which is $6.49 on the menu, the lady ringing me up told me $12.14 - confused I asked if that was correct and she asked me "whats your problem that's what it cost" like Ope. Wasn't trying to have a problem I was just confused. Math wasn't mathing. At that point I'm not even interested anymore because of her attitude towards me and was about to drive off when I'm guessing the manager got on the headset and said the employee rang me up wrong my new total would be at the window. I wasnt rude, I actually didn't say anything at all about the situation, I waited to hear what my total was which was actually $8.14 the manager didn't apologize for the way the lady spoke to me asking what's my problem, then the manager treated me like I'm an asshole...for questioning the prices?? He said so himself she was in the wrong so I'm confused why I was treated so poorly for ensuring I pay the correct amount?? He handed that food to me quick asf, closed the drive thru window and said nothing else I understand mistakes happen I'm not even tripping, I just wanted to make sure I was paying for what I was getting but I just had to make a review on the situation because nothing warrants that behavior especially over a mistake yall made...I'm still so shocked at that experience. read more

Far and away the worst Steak 'n Shake I'be ever had the misfortune of dining at. Burger was burnt, fries were soggy, store was filthy. They made my Reece's shake completely wrong. They put a small amount of Reece's on the whopped cream of a chocolate shake. When I went up to get my shake made correctly I was told "that's how it's always been made" read more

Food is good, don't pay to supersize your fries. I swear they added 3 more than my wife. She enjoyed the burger. I was just disappointed in what they charged me extra for not really extra. Dining room is quiet and pleasant. read more

Food was terrible. They have choice Covid. The meat tasted nasty. Used to a favorite, now we won't go back

Haven't had a burger here in awhile but I was craving their French fries so we stopped. Have to say burger was just as good as it was the last time I was there and the fries were so yummy! Definitely will go back again! read more

Excellent food and service. toppings were fresh and burgers awesome... all this and a great shake too. They even had great music playing. Overall a great experience! read more

Food and shakes were delicious. All orders via kiosk which was convenient and service of food to table was good, too. Restaurant was a little dirty but I don't expect it to be sparkling for the kind of establishment it is. Overall, we love Steak N Shake! read more

We finished our food 5 min ago, and we're still waiting on our shakes. It's not busy, maybe they're short staffed - but this is crazy. No one seems terribly concerned about it. Staff is dismissive. We won't be back. read more

Food was lukewarm. If you are gonna serve food serve it hot or not at all. The fries had no crispy texture. And the chicken was well as I would put it too cold for my liking. The only good thing was the shake. Please address these concerns read more

I've always viewed Steak n' Shake as a sit down restaurant to take the family to. Now the ordering Kiosk forces you to order standing up rather than sitting at the table with a menu. It is difficult enough getting Children to focus to order from a menu, mix that with standing and it becomes an even more annoying process. After ordering, we went to get our drinks to find that the sodas wouldn't dispense. Found out you have to scan the Barcode to dispense the drinks and they shut off after 15 seconds. My daughter wasn't even able to fill her cup all the way because she kept hesitating. If I wanted to go to a quick stop restaurant i would have just gone to McDonald's or burger king. While sitting down to eat, a group of elderly ladies came in and sat down waiting to order. It made me even more upset to see them have to stand to order than when my family had to. I understand trying to find ways to save money and If the kiosk is the way the company wants to go, then at least put them on the table. They have effectively managed to limit the amount of staffing, meaning they have to pay less, limited customers to how long they take up a table meaning they could theoretically serve more customers in a day, and limited customers to how much drink they consume, all while not lowering the prices of the product. Make no mistake, the staff was helpful and the food was good, but while it is more similar to a McDonald's rather than the sit down family restaurant it used to be, for that price vs service, I probably won't be back. read more

We won't be going to any Steak and Shake restaurants. Very disappointed in them. First they get rid of the double fudge chocolate shake. Then they get rid of their Royale and Jr Royale, stating that there was an issue with storing the eggs. During the pandemic, they switched to kiosks for ordering and got rid of their waiters and waitresses. Today we went there and they don't even have pepper Jack cheese. It's American cheese or nothing. Plus, there was only one person working that we could see. Absolutely has gone downhill! Would not recommend this place. read more

Even though none of the managers workers came into work. He is there busting his but doing drive through only. He is super nice and great guy. We need more of him in the world. read more

First off, the price is perfect. Not too much food where you feel like you over ate on Thanksgiving! The food is fine. Not 5 stars fine but it's good. Like you would expect from a diner. The shakes are delicious. The staff are very friendly and helpful. I feel for the servers, out dinner came to $11. So the tip would be crap at 20%. So if you go and like the service, tip at least $5. Poor kids. My downside is the menus and the table flip through ad are gross. Dirty food finger prints all over them. Very disgusting. Other than that, I like this place. read more

DO NOT COME HERE! It's not worth it. I ordered a milkshake and it was BAD. There was dirt on the cup and in the milkshake! The whipped cream tasted like frosting but not whipped cream AT ALL. Don't waste your money and time here. The one in Florida was better. Don't travel to just to go to Steak 'n Shake. Find a different one. read more

DO NOT COME HERE! The food is absolutely disgusting. They use the microwave to heat up the chili so it isn't fresh ($5 for a side cup of chili). We had to constantly send our food back because something was either missing or just wasn't what we ordered. The food was cold when it came out and it still wasn't the way we ordered it. The food is extremely greasy and will make your stomach upset. Save yourself the time, money, and stomach issues and go somewhere else. You would have better luck going to McDonald's. read more

Tried this Steak and Shake for the first time and also the last. It was two in the afternoon and the wait was way beyond long. Yes I understand it takes awhile but I am no stranger to SnS. The soda was cold, the fries were hot, but it looked like the bun squisher was super angry today. I think the reason it took so long, is the cook forgot my food was on the grill. It was beyond crispy. Good luck Battle Creek. If you have some time to kill, then surely try the drive thru here. read more

This is a good fast food place for the area. You can usually get a good steak burger, and enjoy a shake for a decent lunch. I usually order their chili and a burger. The service is pretty good, however, over the years there have been a few strange characters serving food, and sometimes they are not always on the ball. The place has the look of a 50's style dinner, and is usually pretty clean. A good place to take kids. read more

This place has been a disappointment the last few times we have been here. I don't think there has been a time recently were our order was not slow or wrong. I feel bad for the servers because one of the positive things I can say is that the dinning room staff is VERY nice and pleasant to deal with. They become just as frustrated when things get messed up. If and when you do get your food most of the time it is not bad. The biggest problem I have with this place is its lack of organization and there inability to maintain stock. The food quality is not bad. read more

Steak ’n Shake - Average Steak and Shake store. Place is clean and bright. - Burgers Near Me - Battle Creek, Michigan

Steak N Shake is Steak N Shake. It's good for what you get, but it's a chain... My stars for this particular location are simply based on their fabulous ability to handle 9 students and 3 chaperones one day into their field trip on a Thursday night at 11 pm and not strangle all of us. Kudos for kind service, patience and getting all 12 orders correct with all the crazy personal requests made with the food to the table in a timely manner and no one dying. And thank you for tolerating the water glass that got dumped, the squealing laughter, incessant questions about the menu, and last minute shake orders. Huzzah! read more

OMG Forget McDonald's and Burger King. Their burgers are junk compared here! The hamburger buns were so fresh and soft it compared to a Krispy Kreme donut. Shoestring french fries not much potato taste but that's fine when you combine it with a spoon full of milkshake. In the milkshakes are made from real ice cream out of this dispense a foam you get at the other place. I purchased their promotion buy a $10 gift card get a free milkshake what a deal! read more

Slower service. Couldn't figure out to have individual checks, check-out was slow as the cashier had issues separating checks, food was ok, a few mess-up (in our favor). Gave my youngest a full sized shake instead of a kid's size, gave kids fries instead of apple slices (got to keep the fried), good was decent nothing super great. read more

Service was ok. Ordered 2 shakes, both had chunks of ice and tasted freezer burnt. Never had this issue before...

We need Stephanie back on nights!! Took us 45 min just to get 3 shakes and they weren't that great.

Today was not a positive experience. I used the drive thru today and the lady who took my order was super rude. The lady taking my order made me wait 5 minutes to order. And then as I was ordering my milkshakes she cut me off and said got it 3 milkshakes. And when I asked to make sure she had my right order, she's said, "Got it, now pull around." How rude!? And then I got to the window I had to wait 10 minutes for my milkshakes and this wasn't even at a peak meal time. I can't believe it took almost 20 minutes to use the drive thru. I'm not sure if I will come back to this restaurant. Not impressed. read more

Terrible service from Evelyn. Waited over 20 mins for the wrong items! Will not return

We'll my experience was ok work this place The service was good, I was greeted when I walked I'm sat right down as there was only a couple and their young child. She took my drink order fast and also i knew what I wanted so she took that right away. Here is where they get low marks, I got a burger and a fry meal burger was ok meat was falling apart a bit bit the fries were VERY much over done ) over cooked or re cooked. The waitress checked back on me and got me a refill on my drink and gave me my bill. She also was tired and sat on a prep counter in the dinning area for a few minutes and had social hour with her co workers, I should not I was here from 430 am to 500 am give or take so the staff was very relaxed. The food could have been a lot better and the staff could have been more business like, the service was good is why I gave it a 3 star that's what saved it from a 1 star. read more
