This incredible space welcomes guests entering Full Frame Theater, as well as sometimes its neighbor, The Power Plant Gallery. It's a VERY unique event venue flanked by mammoth coal-fired boilers that were used in the original building. You can admire the elevator shaft to the right of the front door, or envision the unseen inside (but very visible outside) base of the Lucky Strike smokestack which The Boiler Room "horeshoes" around. Enormous windows, concrete floors and brick walls give this space the perfect impression for any event [can I plan my next birthday party here?!] No space has ever scream contemporary meets historic so clearly! Plus, doors are open 9am-midnight, SEVEN days a week, so there truly is no reason to miss this drool-worthy space. Secret tip: it's air-conditioned and they've got tall-topped tables and chairs inside along the massive windows. This would be the perfect get-away from the office or {indoor} picnic lunch spot.

The cookery looks great from the outside: color mural on its side-wall, fancy metal, grillwork up front along with a cool sign are the only hints of what lies inside. For this charity dinner they had a bunch of long tables set up family-style for a communal dinner. In back the bar was busy and buzzing with action. And the overall space is not huge but comfortable and lit really well. Accent lights on the rough brick walls created a lot of visual texture for the eye. The space is open but still very personal. A landing area at top was unused and a storage area up front near the ceiling housed what looks like brewing equipment for Ponysaurus (?) Overall the Cookery seems like a great space for a corporate or personal event if you don't have a huge headcount. While there isn't much else right around here, the Cookery is worth the drive out if you've got an excuse for a visit...

The event was great. It's always a pleasure to meet up with old yelp friends and meet new yelp friends! During this event I noticed they had so many amazing drinks to pull from. The bartender and staff working were super cool. There was live music as well as vendors from around the triangle. Shout out to the guitarist who was jamming to all of the latest tunes. Parking was a struggle so we ended up at a meter which wasn't that far of a walk. There is a parking garage directly across the street so you may want to check that out if you experience parking struggles. The ambiance and decor was great for the facility. My best friend and I had Friday, July 3rd off so we decided to get here when they opened at noon. There is what seems at first a long road from the highway to the winery. Since I was one of the first people there, I was a bit confused about where to park but figured it out relatively easily. Walking up to main building, I loved the view. I loved all the outdoor seating and the rooftop bars. I really liked all of the covered spaces. But since it was SO HOT, we decided to sit inside. We started with a pear cider that was delicious. ($7.50 pint). We went up to the roof to look around but decided it was more comfortable inside. I then got a Procecco Rose ($9) and my friend got a Moscato Rose. The bartender poured us samples of both and it would have been nice if we'd both liked the same ones and we could have shared a bottle, but no dice. We walked around the other buildings and would have LOVED to spent more time outside. But two drinks was all we needed especially since we didn't partake in the food trucks parked out front. We were there for about 1.5 hours and it really started to get crowded, so we decided that was our cue to leave. I got a Diet Coke (can $2) before I cashed out. All of the bartenders were super nice and helpful. Most seemed to know what they were serving and were knowledgeable about recommendations. Even the restrooms were beautiful. And very clean! I wore jean shorts and top, while my friend wore a sundress. I saw all sorts of different outfits so I don't think there is a particular dress code here. Overall this was SO MUCH fun.
