I've been to Improv in NY but this was our first time at Raleigh Improv. We had VIP tickets to see TJ Miller. When we arrived for our 9:30 show, there were tons of parking spots available which was really nice not to have to keep circling the lot like we do for Goodnights. We also had a separate VIP line outside. It was very organized. The only difference between the two comedy clubs when it comes to seating is that your seats are not reserved specifically to your name and an employee points to which seats you will go to. We had awesome seats being that we were third in line! Middle table, on the end, perfect view. Quite a few people were uncomfortable being right on the stage and looking up, so they requested to move back. I did noticed this club can easily have bad seats being in the way back or off to the sides with obstructed viewing. The only way to be guaranteed great seats is to buy VIP and be one of the first people in line. Ordering is super easy and done with a QR code so you don't have to bother anyone around you to get service. The beer was nice and cold but I will say I don't recommend the guacamole and chips...it has corn and beans in it and it just tasted off. The staff are all amazing here, respectful, kind, and quick. They even pick up your dishes throughout the show. It can be a bit disruptive being at the end table but it's not to the point where it's annoying. I appreciate clean tables! Our show was hilarious and they allowed people to meet TJ Miller afterwards as long as you bought his hot sauce. We didn't line up for this, husband was unfortunately not interested (and to be fair, we do own over 20 bottles of hot sauce right now). Acoustics weren't super, audio definitely needs some fine tuning or an upgrade. Overall, I definitely prefer Improv to its predecessor and hope to come back again! read more

I enjoyed the show, but I did not enjoy my seat. The booths were too far away from the stage, and the wait time for my food was long, even though I ordered through the app. The food is overpriced. The marinara sauce and mozzarella sticks tasted ok. I enjoyed the show, but it was difficult to block out table conversations and conversations between waitresses and customers. I stood in line for about 1.5 hrs to enter. Thankfully, I found a great parking space. If you do not book with a party of 4 or more, expect to sit at a table with strangers. I was grateful to end up with a seat at the end of the table. read more

Food is pretty mid and typically of a comedy club. It would be nice if comedy clubs had better food but it is what it is. The service is very quick and workers are always really nice and helpful. Indoor temperature is good but tables could be spaced out a little bit more. read more

I went to see Ricky Smiley, and this ended up being one of the best comedy nights I've had in a while. Every opening act was hilarious, and the main show kept the energy high the entire time. The service was just as solid. Food and drinks came out quickly, and the staff stayed on top of everything without ever feeling rushed. Raleigh Improv is hands-down one of the best comedy venues in the area. You don't feel squeezed in or packed like sardines. There's plenty of room to walk around, the seating feels comfortable, and the overall layout makes it easy to enjoy the show without bumping elbows with strangers. Even the bathrooms impressed me -- large, clean, and well-maintained, which is not something every venue can say. Quick tip: Go to the first show of the night. It saves you from waiting outside in a long line while the earlier crowd exits. Such a great experience. I'll definitely be back for more shows! read more

Venue itself is four stars. Food and Service is 2 stars. Venue feels new and is well maintained. We went in November and it was COLD inside (I.e. never removed our coats). Made the mistake of reserving a booth which included food credits. Wow the food was terrible. I should have known not to order food in a comedy club. Oh well. Our group had several items (hot chicken Sammie, salad, burger, fries..UGH!! Fries were like eating cardboard; chicken was burnt; burger was meh. Salad was good. Service was not good. Got there early to order and eat ahead of the acts. No luck. S-L-O-W. Brought the wrong items to our table THREE TIMES. Ouch. Being generous with three stars....just don't eat the food or...order a salad : ) read more

What a fun experience! We decided to go last minute when we noticed that there was a well known comedian in town. It was very easy to buy tickets once we arrived about 30 minutes before showtime and there were already people lining up. They divide the lines into the VIP (are admitted into the venue early for better seating) and general admission (still have a great opportunity to get seats in the front). It says it very clearly when you buy tickets at the venue or online that you must have an ID regardless of your age, so it was silly to watch a patron get upset when he was told this very explicit rule. Once you were seated down, you have a QR code on the table where you can order drinks and food which comes out pretty quick and usually before showtime starts! Really great venue and Views are great from anywhere you sit. Can't wait to come back! read more

This is a nice venue for a comedy show. The view is had of the stage from where I was sitting was great because my friend and I was facing the stage. We saw Arnez J here and he did not disappoint. After coming here again, I have to lower my rating to 3 stars simply because the food and drinks ARE really overpriced, especially for how mediocre they are. Paying $10 for a pint of Bud Light in Cary, NC is insanity, and most of the appetizers are $15 or more. The portion sizes are kind of small too, so you end up having to buy multiple appetizers or just leaving hungry. The food is OK if you're looking for "drunk food" but if you're looking for a legit dinner, eat beforehand. We arrived early (around when doors opened) and got to sit near the stage, which was kind of fun, but next time we'll probably eat beforehand and arrive a little bit later. Overall, we enjoyed seeing Godfrey. This was our first going to Raleigh Improv. For seating, I'd prefer to sit beside my bf and not across from him. The seating closest to the stage is tight. I asked to move to the bar area, behind the booths, but was told that once we were seated, we could not move. I did notice the couple behind us asked to be seated somewhere else, too, and yes, that was allowed. They were given the option to be seated at the same bar area where I asked to be seated. We went to see Bill Bellamy last weekend & it was our first time here. It's easy tI find parking & the doors opened at 5 pm for the 6:30 pm show. I suggest you get there as early as possible to avoid the chaos. The staff were kind of friendly. We got general admission tickets which meant we were sitting a table with strangers and sitting VERY closely, which I couldn't stand. I mean, this lady was literally touching me the entire time. Talk about being in someone's personal space. Anyway, you open a tab using the QR code on your table & they bring it out to you. The food and drinks are expensive. $6 for a small glass of Pepsi was the same price for water. You had to buy a minimum of 2 items per their rules. Who knew? I got pepperoni pizza and their burger as well. The pizza was ok but the burger was hard and burnt. We had a blast watching the show. I was in tears. I definitely would like to go back in the future. Next time, we will get the VIP ticket. read more

Visited Raleigh Improv to see Mike Epps. Love this venue. It is large enough that it doesn't feel too cramped, but small enough that most seats are pretty good ones. If you aren't purchasing tickets with a large group or buying a VIP booth, you will have to be comfortable sitting next to strangers. The seating is fairly close to others, but this is normal for shows in general. The night I went there was a 2 order per person requirement which was easily met by purchasing drinks and appetizers. We ate before coming to the show so appetizers were plenty for us. If you're coming to the show hungry, be prepared to purchase several appetizers. Fortunately, the appetizers aren't too pricey ($10-15 range). The shrimp quesadillas were delicious. My friend loved her Hawaiian 5-0 cocktail too. I just had a glass of Riesling. I am docking a star because, although our order came out fairly quickly, we had to send it back because it was the wrong item and it took forever for the right item to get to our table. A bit frustrating but the food was good in the end and we loved the show, so hopefully this was a one-time fluke. The house was crowded and the show sold out, so the kitchen was extremely busy. I would definitely visit again. I love to laugh and Mike Epps did not disappoint. read more

Great location for a comedy show! There was ample parking in the back parking lot. Getting into the venue was very quick and easy! The bathrooms were nice and clean. If you want a good view of the stage, I'd recommend getting there no later than 15 minutes after doors open. Not a fan of having to buy 2+ items for each ticket. Highly recommend paying for the food on the website before your show starts or you will be interrupted during the show to pay on the hand held kiosks. Drinks start at $7 (including water) and there are no refills. I got the chicken sandwich and it was very lack luster but not terrible. Overall, good venue to watch a show! At this age and stage I prefer comfort and the general admission is just way too close for comfort. We waited in the vip line for a few before the doors open. Our booth was ready when we got inside. There is a $200 voucher we were able to use on anything on the menu including cocktails, so this turned out to be a better experience. Don't expect impeccable service because it's still a noisy comedy club. Don't expect good tasting food, it's processed. Do come expecting to laugh and enjoy the comedian you paid to see. I purchased VIP tickets and I'm sure they told me it included some special hors d'oeuvres but when I got inside no special hors d'oeuvres shame on me. My mom and I got tickets to the Eras Drag Brunch (Taylor's Edition) here and had a fun time. The space is huge and I liked that it was spaced out so you were not packed in there. There is a two-item minimum per person, any food item or beverage counts. It took a long time to get the first drink since they were taking so many orders at once but it improved after that. The drinks are also pricey. I would return for another show if there was one that I wanted to see. read more

The staff randomly pick where to seat you whether you have a VIP or regular ticket so get there early if you want to be seated in a good spot. The line was long even at 5:30 and anyone coming at 6 would have been seated in the far corners or behind the seats by the stage. There is a two item minimum. The server told us alcoholic drinks had to be hand ordered. Not a problem. I was trying to order an Evian and none of the drinks were on the QR code menu. They disabled it and anyone who were in that section had to wait to order drinks even after some had their food arrive. 20 minutes later, the server comes back and proceeds to take the orders of everyone that came after me before coming to me. They were eating their food before I got to order my water. After the show, people with VIP tickets were told to remain in their seats to see the headliner for the meet and greet. Those people asked why everyone else was lining up around the back wall and were told they were in line for the meet and greet. Then we heard the announcer tell everyone to line up. I wasn't in the VIP line, but I could see the frustration of the people waiting in their seats only to find out they were going in the back of the line including people who didn't have VIP tickets. I was on the guest list and was fortunate not to have to wait and was happy to see they allowed people with assistive devices go in first. This is the first time I've seen them do that. Unfortunately, we had to exit behind the stage and walk around three sides of the building to get to the parking lot. The food itself was standard and somewhat edible. It's overpriced frozen and fried food. I got the shrimp. Not sure what kind of sauces they had but they were awful. I ate only the shrimp and couldn't eat either sauce. The darker of the two tasted like burnt soy sauce with bbq smoke. I would definitely not recommend it. None of us got silverware or napkins. The server didn't come back around until the end to clear out checks. He was very nice but it would have been nice to have something besides my fingers to eat with and something to wipe it off with. Luckily I always have gloves and wipes with me. The staff was friendlier this time around. The lady at the meet and greet was very helpful and polite even dealing with the frustrated guests. I think they need to improve communication with guests about meet and greets. More than half of the line were people with standard tickets and the VIP people were behind them because they were waiting to be called. I felt bad for them. The line was a good 100 people long by the time they got in line and there was only a half hour before the next show so I don't know if they ever had a chance for the meet and greet. My other suggestion would be to start taking orders where you left off instead of going to the people that came in last. I didn't get my water until the end of the opening act. The server came by twice to verify the order was put in correctly before he physically went and brought it to me himself. read more

First of all, the prices are outrageous for the quality of food. We got sliders ($17) that were raw and the cheese sticks ($15) were so gross. A Pepsi is $6 with no refills, or you can get a bottled water for $7 (that's room temp). Service wasn't great. Myself and my wife are at the Improv a lot and the food is always the same nothing is hot and most of the time the order comes to the table wrong. The beer is cold and they have a lot of selection with everything else, but please make the food better. I love to go to this venue when my favorite comedians performed. There's plenty of seating for them to accommodate small and big events. I think they could definitely improve providing more staff/servers because it gets really busy. They do serve food and alcoholic beverages. First holy shit is the food/ drinks expensive. $7 for a water/soda should be a crime. And $18 for any alcoholic drink is also outrageous. The food is not good, they put no sauce on your burgers/sandwiches, not to mention they are over seasoned. The margaritas are not good. The service was excellent. Ambiance is fine. I agree sitting at table with people you don't know is neither here nor there. But just do yourself a favor and don't eat the food here, I'll say the fries were just okay, if you have to eat something. read more

TERRIBLE experience here today! Fun show, really awful service/food/prices. Place was completely unprepared for a show they sold tickets to months in advance. We arrived early and ordered 2 drinks and spinach dip with chips ($15). Asked for water but were told the "new manager" would not allow delivery of glasses of water but insisted we order bottles of Evian at $7 a pop. Drinks arrived **90 minutes** later and spinach dip came about 15 minutes before the show ended. We took an Uber and came to drink but there was no chance of ordering even a second round. The BOTTLES OF WATER came out last. People next to us sent their cold fries w cheese sauce back, which instead of being thrown out and made fresh were just returned even colder, which I'm pretty sure is a food safety violation. Wonky ordering system did not seem to correctly correlate orders to tables; nearly everything servers brought out had to be taken to 2 or 3 tables before getting it to the right customers. Servers spent half their time running around looking frantic but with hands empty. When we asked our server about the delay he said "Everyone is waiting for their food" as if that was somehow a good answer, our fault, and that orders were a bad thing. And: the sound system is awful. Notified the entertainers that we will NEVER return to this venue. As we say in the South: That new manager doesn't seem to be hittin' on much. The two of us were very pleased with our first experience here. It was not an inexpensive one, but very enjoyable. Bought tickets online for the early Saturday show for Mo'Nique, which meant doors opened at 5 for the 6:30 show. We arrived around 4:50 to a small line. Doors opened right on time. They check your ticket, stamp 21 on your hand (or not), search your bag and lead you to your seat. They appeared to seat mostly by arrival, as we were led to the front. The deal with the front seats though is that they are sideways two-tops so close together they might as well be long sideways communal tables. You WILL get to know your neighbors. By now we have paid just over $100 for our tickets ($40 each plus whatever taxes and fees). There is then a two item per person minimum also. We knew that before we came, so we came hungry. I ordered the Honey BBQ wings and a glass of Chardonnay, Husband had the Chicken Quesadilla with a Manhattan. Not having had much to eat earlier, we also got the Spinach Artichoke Dip and another round of drinks (although Husband got a double Jim Beam neat the second time). Food is decent. I especially liked the spinach & artichoke dip but it was served with not enough tortilla chips, and some of the ones we did have were super oily/soggy. All of that before tip was another $94. Not a cheap date night, but we didn't have to order as much as we did. The show was terrific! Sound was terrific...the stage is a good size with good lighting. Really nice venue. Even the bathrooms are nice, although they are not exactly conveniently located in that you have to go out to the lobby and pass by the security/admissions folks each way. Not sure how they keep track of all that, but they do. Tip for those that live in North Raleigh like we do who might have thought this place was pretty far...it's a straight shot on 540! EASY! We will be back! (especially if they send deals our way...I was sure to fill out the form on the table) read more
