August 17th.His show was horrible. I have never heard so much hatred , homophobic content, pedophilia content, disrespect for office of President both sides! He literally drank the entire time!Clearly has drinking issues. His show should have never been allowed him there. He was basically being bully to young couple in the audience for no reason. Enjoyed myself and the show last night at Raleigh improv. The staff were very friendly and helpful. When I arrived the second section only had side seats left where you clearly were not going to be able to see the stage. So, I asked one of the staff if I could sit in the next section on the rail and she said that would be fine, but I would have to wait. Several of us decided to wait, so we waited for just a few minutes and they were able to sit us. The same lady that helped me was my waitress and explained the ordering process with our phones. They had paper menus, but scanning the QR code and ordering and checking out was super simple. I decided to get an appletini and their chips and guacamole. It took a while to get the food and drinks out. However, the appletini was good, not super strong, but had a good flavor. The guacamole was a little dry and definitely needed some sauce--Otherwise it was good. They do require a two drink or item minimum, so I stuck to that and enjoyed the comedians. The two of us were very pleased with our first experience here. It was not an inexpensive one, but very enjoyable. Bought tickets online for the early Saturday show for Mo'Nique, which meant doors opened at 5 for the 6:30 show. We arrived around 4:50 to a small line. Doors opened right on time. They check your ticket, stamp 21 on your hand (or not), search your bag and lead you to your seat. They appeared to seat mostly by arrival, as we were led to the front. The deal with the front seats though is that they are sideways two-tops so close together they might as well be long sideways communal tables. You WILL get to know your neighbors. By now we have paid just over $100 for our tickets ($40 each plus whatever taxes and fees). There is then a two item per person minimum also. We knew that before we came, so we came hungry. I ordered the Honey BBQ wings and a glass of Chardonnay, Husband had the Chicken Quesadilla with a Manhattan. Not having had much to eat earlier, we also got the Spinach Artichoke Dip and another round of drinks (although Husband got a double Jim Beam neat the second time). Food is decent. I especially liked the spinach & artichoke dip but it was served with not enough tortilla chips, and some of the ones we did have were super oily/soggy. All of that before tip was another $94. Not a cheap date night, but we didn't have to order as much as we did. The show was terrific! Sound was terrific...the stage is a good size with good lighting. Really nice venue. Even the bathrooms are nice, although they are not exactly conveniently located in that you have to go out to the lobby and pass by the security/admissions folks each way. Not sure how they keep track of all that, but they do. Tip for those that live in North Raleigh like we do who might have thought this place was pretty far...it's a straight shot on 540! EASY! I recently saw Arnez J at this location...great comic, great show but I was very disappointed in the venue service. After being shuttled in by the orderly staff we were herded to seats that we were unable to choose for ourselves after being informed that there was a required two item minimum purchase per person. The drinks and appetizers were HORRIBLE! We had two mock tails, mozzarella sticks, boneless wings and spinach dip. The only relatively edible item was the mozzarella sticks. I saw waiter after waiter carrying full plates of food back from other patrons. I have no problem with the pricing BUT if you are going to require purchases make the product worthwhile instead of clearly pulling money from patrons for trash. The location is great with surrounding eateries. Facility was clean. Most of the staff was friendly...despite that I'll most likely never return. read more

I have been wanting to check out this comedy club for some time so I was happy to get the opportunity on a Friday night. We purchased our tickets online and were charged convenience fees & taxes. I was advised by an employee at the box office that the price is still the same whether you buy them online or in person. The business is located in a shopping center with other businesses so the parking is shared. We waited in line outside for a while before we were let in. Once inside our tickets and bags were checked and we were escorted to an employee that went over the comedy club rules. We were advised that there was a two item minimum purchase per person, that we should not use our phone during the show, and that there was no heckling allowed. The venue is nice and has great decor inside but the seating setup can prevent you from having a good view of the stage depending on where you are seated within the club. If you get seated on the end seats you will be looking at a brick wall instead of the stage. That is where the usher was trying to seat us but we were allowed to move to a better seat. It was our waitresses second day but she was really nice & helpful. Many items on the menu are rather pricey. My friend orders a glass of tea & it was $6. The hummus and pita chips is $12. I ordered the buffalo wings. They were fatty. The wings were served with carrots, celery and ranch or blue cheese. For eight wings it was $13. The comedy show started late. From the start of Mo'nique's comedy routine there was a male heckler that kept talking loudly throughout the show that made it hard to hear some of the comedians routine. Soon after a female heckler also began talking throughout the show. Although it was stated that there was no heckling no staff came out & spoke to the hecklers about disturbing the show. Eventually a spectator complained to the female heckler about disrupting the show. The heckler and the patron began arguing and the show was interrupted more and Mo'nique stepped in and four security personnel finally came out. The female heckler eventually ended up saying that she was leaving after going back and forth with Monique and the patron. Our evening was definitely ruined as a result of all of the craziness that took place tonight. read more

Went to the Grinch Drag show. They were lovely and the show got better. Maybe they were beginners. But I still give them all the credit! And again, the show got better over time. But the overall experience was not the best. The food and drinks were way overpriced $80 for fried pickles, fried shrimp (off the appetizer) and 2 beers. Our waitress didn't come check on us. I had to keep asking other waitresses to send ours. . The menu was all ordered online, but the issue was the internet. So I waited 30 min for a drink and it didn't go through because the internet. Then they don't offer ice water, so you had to buy $7 bottled water. The AC was not on and everyone (I mean everyone complained as soon as we got outside) Aside from the drag queens, it's not likely we will go back. Unfortunately. The show itself was great enjoyed it so much he was great. This experience this time was the best we had a booth and did not have to wait in a super long line we were seated very fast the waiter came very quickly and our food came out super quick which was a much better experience then general admission. We attended a show to celebrate a friend's birthday. After purchasing VIP tickets, one booth for 4 and a VIP table for two, we requested to sit as a group or close to one another. The manager refused our request. Their main concern was that we meet our food and beverage minimum which we made clear would not be a problem. After discussing this with our server, she asked the manager if there was a reason for not allowing us to sit near one another, his response was "because I said so". While the comedians were great and the individual servers were professional, the manager showed no interest in customer service. It would seem the extra price for VIP seating made no difference in the level of customer service and assured we will not recommend or return to this location again. read more

Went with a group of five to see Josh Johnson. If you aren't familiar, highly recommend you check him out. The two openers were also pretty good, better than most I've seen. The venue itself is nice. Reminiscent of a movie theater in ways. I appreciate the no cell phone policy so people can enjoy the show without worrying about flashing lights, as well as live in the moment. There is a two item minimum, which is fine. I'm assuming it's similar to movie theaters in which the majority of the venue's revenue is generated via concessions. Similarly, they're pretty pricy for what you get. My only complaint would be the lack of water. There was a bottle option for like 7$ but that seems expensive and not environmentally savvy. Especially since there is already a two item minimum requirement. Overall, I enjoyed the show and the venue. Have been a couple of times before and will continue to go back. Glad to have Raleigh Improv in town even though they're not really in Raleigh. They're in Cary! Well actually, they are on the FAR western end of Cary which is more like S. Durham?!? Well wherever they are, my first visit was impressive! Stopped in for a complimentary Brooks Wheelan show and had a great time. The venue is really big and modern. Service is pretty efficient and you've got a two item minimum for shows. It's a team service and they get confused but be patient! The only oddity was that the tables up front are perpendicular to the stage so you have to twist around in your seat to watch the show. But I was still impressed, I think it gives the S. Fun little spot, seems weird to have comedy shop in the area that its in but then again everything looks different during the covid days. The venue is really nice, seems fairly new. The sound and visuals were stellar. Its a really nice venue. The have awesome mirrors in the bathroom by the way. Social distancing was enforced, mask requirement etc. I went to see Tommy Davidson the other week. He put on a really good show. We were able to take pics with him after the show. The waitstaff was nice. They worked pretty fast. The food was sub par, not horrible but not great. The food was just so so. I had the wings, mac n cheese, brussel sprouts and a quesadilla. All in all about $70 with the two item minimum per person, bottled waters and tip. We went here for the first time last week. The staff was surprisingly efficient. For the size of the crowd they had a really decent system to handle the seating and serving everyone. The problem lies with the food... The cost was ridiculously high for what you got. Everything served was terrible! They had Pepsi products but you would never know it.. the sodas were as flat and tasteless. For the juice glass full of ice & colored tonic water we paid I think $8 for& no refills!! We tried the nachos and they were impossible to choke down! We got some tortilla chips with black beans and a drizzle of cheese but a pile of jalapeños.. So excited when we heard there was a comedy club on this side of the area! We purchased a BOGO deal that Raleigh Improv had floating around on FB. I thought it was a slammmmin deal for such a new spot and to get to experience Mo Amer, we was winning. Long story short, Our show was said to start at 9:30 but the doors were opened early for us around 9:10 when it was supposed to open at 9:15. It was raining and wet outdoors so that was really nice of them to let us all in a little early. From the moment we walked in the door we experienced great service from everyone. Just a few notes: - Clean vestibule - Amazing facility - It's super clean and features state of the art Sound and visuals. It reminds you of a super intense movie theater with a top notch lighting and visuals. We all sat in the very front and had a crazy up close view. That was totally by accident (as i ended up being a part of the jokes lol). If you don't want the front be sure to tell the ushers or ... just get there right around time for your show to start. If you get there early you will be sitting towards the front which is GREAT if that is what you desire. Our waitress was really nice and friendly. Let's talk about this 2 item minimum that you MUST partake in. They have it plastered on your tickets in small print so beware. The prices for the food items is decent but for the drinks it's steep. The cheapest fountain drink is $6 (no refills). The other items are typical bar food items that range from $7-$16. The taste is great. We grabbed fries, nachos and drinks. The fries were cold in some places and warm in others. The temp was not consistent through out the whole bow. The portion of fries for the cost was 'jank' as i was expecting more. The nachos were good and the non alcoholic drinks we grabbed were amazing! Overall I ended up spending roughly $40 on apps and drinks and another $28 on tickets which landed me a decent date night. The comedian (Mo Amer) was to funny! Not to much cussing as well. I will say one thing, please plan to spend at least $30-40 additional to the cost of tickets, if you want up close seats arrive at least an hour to an hour and a half before your show (depending on if the show is sold out or not) and be prepared to have a good time! read more

The venue is great for shows. We were lucky enough to get a booth with general admission which was a lot more comfortable over the tables which they were cramming people into. The drinks were good and delivered fast. The spinach dip was good and the burger was as well. Stay clear of the radioactive boneless wings. They are the same color as Doritos and will give you heart burn from a foot away. The taste wasn't terribly spicy but they weren't good. The fries are just a bit oddly seasoned i couldn't tell you more other than just not what you'd expect almost like truffle oil. Service was great considering the size of the venue. This place is so nice and spacious! A great spot for comedy. I've been going to Goodnights for years, but the space is so crowded and you are uncomfortably close to everyone. When they got the new space, I was bigger but seating still so crammed. This place was not like that at all. Seamless check in with digital tickets (unlike Goodnights chaotic will call process). The only thing I hated (which was by chance) is that they seat you in order as you come in and we happened to be sat at the very end far left counter seats of the stage. We saw the comedians without issue but couldn't see anything they showed on the screen. And the didn't project onto outside screens either. Going back for Jon Lovitz! read more

After being hired they asked me to come in for training at 4 o'clock after stating in the interview multiple times that I would not be available for work until 5:30pm. A friend and I came here on a Friday night for a 7:00 show. It's nestled in a nice shopping center area. There was a bit of confusion when we got in line. There was a line for VIP and General Admission. Other than 2 signs, there was no one outside to direct the flow of the line. The people in front of us just walked up with the VIP line. When we got inside, the people working said those lines really didn't mean anything. They were there for when the doors open. Once you get passed that, you stand at the door and wait to be wanded down. The VIPs got wanded first and led to their seats. After being checked, you get led to your seat by a host. My friend and I got to sit at a bar like table. We had great seats and a great view! Now onto the food. I got sliders, loaded fries, and a drink (darker the berry). I give the food 4/10. My food was basically room temp when I got it. The fries had a splash of cheese sauce on them. I didn't taste a drop of alcohol in my drink. Maybe next time I'll try something else. Overall, I'm definitely looking forward to coming back here for another show. I even feel comfortable coming alone if need be. If I can have the same seats I had this time, coming alone wouldn't be awkward at all. This was a great venue. Good for date night, girls night out, or a solo experience. read more

BEWARE! Improv does not accept tickets from StubHub and like companies. Even though Improv is advertised on StubHub, they do not accept these tickets. The staff is also not very friendly when explaining this issue. Watched 6+ parties get sent to the box office window to be told they can be put on a waitlist. Frustrating situation, and mix in apathetic staff.... it just sets a horrible tone. We were there when door opened, waited until 15 minutes after the event started to get wait listed tickets at the very back, where you couldn't see anything. Staff told us that the kitchen was severely backed up so don't expect to get drinks or food quickly, so try to order something that won't take long. read more

This was our first experience July 30, 2022...and I can't say if we would go back. We personally like Goodnight Comedy venue over this one because of the following below. Pros: nice stage, good entertainment, polite staff, clean building, a lot of parking, wait time to get in was reasonable Cons: horrible and over priced drinks, 2 drink minimum- not a problem if the drinks were good- they were watered down u less you get shots, general tickets- they crowd you at very small tables, by the time you get your drinks the show is halfway over... including if you order with a waiter, with or without the barcode on the table. When we go anywhere we do want to be some what comfortable and enjoy ourselves and needless to say me or my husband was not impressed and couldn't wait to leave. The seating was extremely to tight... as if your sitting on top of people. There is no where to walk in the aisle in case you need to go to the bathroom without tripping or stepping on people. If we do decide to revisit we won't get the general tickets again and try a more expensive route but it shouldn't make that much difference especially since they have plenty space to spread people out. Maybe they are money hungry and don't really care about the customers experience. read more

I came here with my friends who bought VIP tickets for a show. I would have expected much better. First of all, the seat was very uncomfortable. We are expected to sit in these chairs for a minimum of 1.5 hours for the show, plus you have to arrive early if you want a decent seat, so really it's 2.5 hours in a chair with a cushion that has been broken down since the place opened. We were all sore afterwards, and we're all under 40 so I imagine older folks would really hate this. Next, we were 3 in our party and because of the odd number, they seated another party of 3 next to us... At the same table. I'm sorry, I'm not here for a European seating arrangement. It was very awkward having strangers at our table. Worse yet, one woman had the loudest, most high-pitched laugh I've ever heard and we got to listen to that in our ears all night. Let people have their own space with people they know: you can afford to lose some money on a couple empty seats given how much you charge for food and drinks. Third, I would say the wait staff need to time their visits to the table. They interrupted the show on many occasions to ask if we needed more drinks and we missed some jokes. If we wanted anything, we would have used the QR at the table so stop trying to make more money at the expense of our enjoyment of the main attraction. They also blocked our view quite often at other tables, making no effort to make themselves unnoticed. Lastly, the lights at the beginning of the show were awful: they fly all around the audience and gave me such a headache as they flashed in my eyes every 5 seconds. I don't have problems with epilepsy but I bet that would induce some problems for someone who does. It was very uncomfortable for about 3 minutes as they announced the comics. Nobody needs the lights in the audience and it doesn't look impressive when you're sitting in the audience, so why bother? Given the choice, I would never come back here even though the show itself was fun and entertaining. The venue is holding guests back from having an amazing experience because they haven't updated the comfort and they value profit over customer service. read more

why does this place advertise comedy shows doors open at 5:30pm for the 7pm show. the line to get in was wrapped around the block almost a half mile long. our portion of the line got in at 7:17pm. so everyyy time this slack late unorganized messy mess happens, the 7pm show gets slighted. they cut off the headliner comedian at 8:30pm and rush us paying customers out the door at 8:30pm because they have a 9pm show!!!! so we miss the entire piece of the comedian. this is our lasttt time coming to this unorganized mess!!!! do notttt come here!! save your money! read more

I haven't been to a comedy show in a very long time and I was looking forward to seeing Corey Holcomb. Unfortunately, this was the worst experience I've had at a business in a very long time. Doors were supposed to open at 8:45 but we were outside a lot longer than that in 36 degree weather. The VIP line didn't start moving to go inside until almost 9:30 (45 mins after the doors were supposed to open). Also, there was no explanation of why they were so behind. Customer service seemed to be hit or miss. Unfortunately, we were missed. Our waitress said she was taking drink orders first so we ordered those. Instead of all of our drinks coming out at or around the same time, they came out in 1's or 2's over a span of about 30-40 minutes. There was also quite a bit of people coming to our table with drink or food items and then realizing they had the wrong table. Sounds confusing right? It was to us as well. We ended up stopping someone else's waitress and asking them to get our waitress to place our food order. By this time the show has started and the host is on stage. Fast forward about an hour and 15 mins... still no food. However, the waitress is now trying to hand us bills. We inform her we never got food and she says "Ya'll didn't get food?" like she doesn't see only drinks on our table. Perhaps she would have known we never got food if she would have popped by once in that 75 mins between when she took our orders and when she tried to give us a bill. Anyway, she goes to get the manager and the manager apologizes, offers to comp the food and still bring it out. Again, the food comes out in 1's and 2's over about 20-30 mins. I did not get food until 11:45pm. I actually saw the kitchen still bringing out food after 12am as if the show wasn't about to be over. Also, we didn't get napkins or forks even though some folks had food that required silverware. When the show was over, we weren't able to leave because half of our table didn't have their cards back or bills yet. Maybe it was a super off night? I don't know... What I do know is that things need to be organized better. Perhaps more time between shows is needed. Final thoughts: This night left a bad taste in my mouth and I seriously doubt I will be returning. Also, I doubt this needs mentioning but the drink & food prices are exorbitant. read more

I love a good comedy show, and this has to be the nicest place to see one in the area! This is a very clean, and huge venue! Only bad thing about is they give away tickets but then force you to buy 2 items from their menu. I'd almost rather pay for the ticket than be forced to pay $8 for a Bud Light! The menu prices are crazy, and the wait staff is on top of you the whole time to make sure you buy the 2 items. Also weird is where the bathrooms are located. You have to walk all the way back to the lobby, but it is nice that they pump in the sound from the stage over the speakers so you don't miss anything. read more

This is a super cool and spacious comedy club -- it looks way bigger on the inside than the outside. If I was only rating the venue and show I would give it a 5, but the food and drinks were honestly terrible. We got a VIP both so we had a $200 credit to spend on drinks and appetizers. I can't name one appetizer that was decent. The worst of them all was the "chicken quesadilla" that was literally cardboard with south cream drizzled on it. My skinny Margarita tasted like watered down agave -- I could taste a hint of lime or tequila. Overall, we were all super disappointed with the food and drinks and would recommend going to eat before or after the show. read more

Like many, my review is for the venue, which was our first time visiting. Raleigh Improv is part of a shopping center which, in my opinion, already has limited parking for the number of businesses active on the weekend. We took a Lyft, so we didn't have to deal with that, fortunately. When we arrived, however, there was no indication that the GA line started on the other side of the building, in a patio-like area. So our early arrival proved a bit pointless since when we were finally told, dozens of people got in the line ahead of us. The confusion continued until the doors opened, 45 minutes late. If you're a party of two, you are grouped with 3 other couples, and you have to order a minimum of four items between the two of you. This is on top of the ticket prices, with overpriced drink and food options. We just got two drinks and two mason jar desserts since I didn't want to have my mask off for too long. My husband and I happened to be at the end of the table closest to the stage, just by chance of where they broke up the line. I imagine those behind us at the table had to crane their necks a bit. The ordering system is a bit confusing because you order via a QR code scanner on your table, and enter your card info twice, but you still get a physical check at the end of the night that you have to wait for to get picked up and then returned before you can leave. It would be so much smoother and efficient to make the whole paying process virtual, tip and all. A few servers (not ours) weren't wearing masks while holding food plates at chest-level and talking. That's a definite no-go for me. I get the venue wants to make back revenue from 2020, but slow and steady wins the race. We're still in a 'panini'. read more

This venue is really nice inside and has great performers. Service is definitely attentive and the prices seem in line with other bars. My one criticism and reason for not giving 5 stars though is the way they seat people. You get smashed into tiny tables with other people and instead of seating two people next to each other (which would make sense), it's always across from each other. So unless you are the last ones seated at a larger table, you are going to be smashed in pretty close to strangers and have to talk across the table to your date. If for whatever reason you need to say something to your date during the show, makes it impossible to whisper and not disturb anyone around. read more

I really like this space! We saw Brooks Wheelan, formerly of SNL, here on Saturday. He was hilarious (I lost my breath several times from laughing so much). We arrived at the door time (5:30pm for a 7pm show) which was great because we were sat up front. There are 3 levels of seats, so I'm glad we ended up on the closest level. My husband and I ordered the dirty fries, two San Pelligrinos and the edamame hummus platter. This was all ordered because of the two-item minumum and our check came out to $32. The hummus platter was just okay; the baba ghanouj was actually kind of bad but the hummus was tasty. The dirty fries tasted pretty good (we held the sriracha mayo because we are vegan). We didn't really have a lot of choices on the menu as vegans. The service was pretty fast. The servers seem to really know what they are doing. This was the grand opening weekend although it's actually been open for a couple of months, so the servers seem to really know what they are doing. The only room for improvement: I could have used more vegan options on the menu. If I am required to buy 2 items per ticket, which is the way most comedy clubs work, I'd like to have more choices! read more

Overall great place for a night out! I've been here three times so far and it just keeps getting better! i have to say the staff gets a 5 along with the performers. Food can be better as seen before in other reviews. We had the chicken club, hummus and wings. The wings were the best out of the three. The hummus had large chunks of garlic in it. The chicken club had the ole microwave taste. But again you have many items to choose from for food and or drink to meet the 2 item minimum! This place will always get a 5 in my book! read more
