And....it's costs $15 to get in. And $5 to park. So $20 bucks for the world's smallest fair. Here are a few suggestions to make your experience the most enjoyable! 1. Remove any expectations of Cirque de Soleil. This is NOT your traditional Cirque de Soleil show. I have seen three Cirque shows, 2 in Vegas and one at the National Harbor in DC. This show is not on that level, it is however a nice upgraded circus filled with acrobats, water and lots of of oooh's and aaahhhs. We had two children and two adults. The kids are 5 and 7 and the entire time their eyes and mouths were open wide. Besides, you get what you pay for..and the last few Cirque shows I saw I sure didnt get the tickets for as much as a discount as I got these! 2. Arrive early! Especially if you have discounted tickets. We brought our tickets on GoldStar and there are two lines that will form. One to switch your printed confirmations for a wristband and one to actually get in. Call me a super planner, but we arrived in the area at 5pm. Had dinner at Red Robin, got over to the ticket trailer at exactly 6:30pm (wristtbands available 2 hours before the show) and then waited in the car for a few and got in line at 7:15pm (doors opens 1 hour before the show. They were a little delayed (about 5 mins) but it wasnt bad. Yes, its a lot of waiting, BUT we were the 3rd family in line and had front row blue level (the middle level) seating. Remember seats are 1st come, 1st serve. Although the tent is very intimate and there really are no bad seats, we still wanted to pick the seats we wanted without effort. Gold level ticket holders have a special VIP line and get to go in before everyone else. We had blue levels and our seats were fine. 3. Go to a later show. The heat comments freaked me out! We even saw a woman come out of the 5:30pm show as we waiting drenched in sweat. Our show however was very comfortable and cool and I'm thinking because the sun had gone down. It was warm, but not unbearable hot. So if you can go to a show a night. It will help! 4. Bring cash. The price for food was reasonable--$5 slushy, $5 funnel cakes, $3 large popcorns, etc. Not bad! But they only take cash so plan ahead of time. Also- we didn't do this, but bring your own snacks! They did not check our person and a few bags of popcorn in a ziplock and juices and water in a big purse could save you some money! 5. Sit back and enjoy! With a little planning this is can be a very enjoyable show. The show was long! We didn't get out until 11:15pm, BUT the show was so captivating that we didnt even realize that the time had gone by. It really is a great show!

Oatlands is a beautiful house that merges the history of the 18th-century Carter owners and the…read more20th-century Eustises, who donated the house to the public. The house was beautifully decorated at the holidays. The tour guide seemed not to like or want to focus on the history of the house or the objects inside unless asked. It felt like she was bringing a lot of personal biases to her perspective, which made the experience a lot less enjoyable than it could have been otherwise. She took us through the first-floor rooms and then announced the top floor is self-guided only. At the admission price, that detracted from it being a better experience. The National Trust for Historic Preservation is the new manager of the site, and they bring a historical interpretation to the site that some visitors may not find as valuable as the tours given by the previous volunteer staff. There is a garden, a greenhouse, and a nice-sized gift shop. It's a beautiful house, and I did like getting some information on the inhabitants and the long history of the property. The presentation itself needed improvement, but the site was worth preserving.

The road down to the main building was not paved, very long and bumpy. Once you arrive to where you're ready to park there really aren't any signs directing you of where to go so we went up to someone at the big building and asked if we were at the right place to which they confirmed we were. I would suggest a larger sign on the main road stating that the entrance is coming up rather than right at the entrance. There was a very cute store inside which would have been very nice to shop at but there was only one person working the pay line which was also full of people buying drinks and cocktails. I highly suggest at least 2 people working that area in the beginning when people are arriving and definitely at intermission. We would have purchased more if we were able to get in line, purchase our items, and be back in time but we didn't think we would make it back in time. Also, when leaving any event, PLEASE be very careful. There weren't any lights leading away from the building to the parking lot which was pretty scary given that it also was not paved or a sidewalk. It was rocks/dirt and we all had to use our phones to leave. This could be dangerous for others that may have more of a difficult time seeing at night.

The current production of "Next…read moreto Normal" is slightly different from the productions that was presented at Arena Stage or Broadway, but they way they adapted was very good. The talent at this community theater is wonderful. They always do a great job. Last season, the production of "August: Osage County" was as good if not better than what I saw in NYC. I look forward to many more productions by this local theater gem.
