I had lamb shank which was cooked to perfection and my wife went for the scallops and monkfish which she told me was the best shed had in a long time,we both shared a warm chocolate brownie with a small glass of dessert wine which complimented the richness of the chocolate to perfection! I have to say I was very impressed with the whole experience and will be going back very soon, this time mob handed with friends!

A friend and I ate here Wednesday 1st June 2016 it's a small ish restaurant with around 10 tables for 2/4 on the ground floor, but a surprisingly larger room upstairs where functions such as tribute band nights a private do's are held I was impressed with the food quality. I had scallops raped in proceto, and my colleague had the veg soup. Both were tasty and well cooked the fish was tender and flavoursome the ham was crisp and and balanced well with the scallops, four scallops and a salad dressing My main course was Duck cooked pink with shaved root veg again flavesome and well balanced. When you first walk into this place you think, this is a bit small to be good, but eat your food then judge I was pleased with my food and so was my colleague. I will return and are going to try the tribute night

As the name suggests, this is a French-run establishment (Jayne & Martyn Emsen) and don't your taste buds know it! Judi & I were staying some 20 miles away near Shrewsbury (The Riverside Inn, Cound) and were reading Shropshire Life in the bar. In a back issue we came across a report on the Jolly Frog that sounded encouraging so we decided to give it a try. A GOOD DECISION!. They specialise in seafood and I can honestly say that I have never eaten better seafood even at the coast. These guys know what they're doing!

Inside French posters and signs adorn the walls of the multi-levelled restaurant, which gave the restaurant a relaxed comfortable atmosphere. I particularly liked the sign that said 'Lobsters love Guinness', you learn something new every day! The menu itself is quite comprehensive, but the Jolly Frog has a great reputation for its fish and seafood, so we both chose a fish dish. Other dishes included pizzas, steaks, roasts etc. We were just in time (2 minutes to spare!) for the prix menu, a choice of two or three courses for a set price, from a fairly wide selection. I went for the seared halibut steak, with samphire and a subtly flavoured white wine sauce; the best piece of halibut I've had since I was in Alaska, high praise indeed! My wife had the grey mullet with samphire in a lemon sauce, again a great dish, just a little heavy on the lemon. We also had a couple a sides that complimented both dishes perfectly, double fried chips and a dressed salad. The choice of desserts on the prix menu was limited to only two, a plum tart and fresh strawberries, meringue and cream, the latter being the dish we both went for. Served in a precipitous cocktail glass, it was the perfect dessert, flavourful and not too large. Rounded off with a decent cup of coffee, this was a great choice of restaurant for our last night in Ludlow.

Absolutely beautiful restaurant and fantastic large outdoor dining area which is great on a nice sunny day dining by the canal. The food is always at a high standards and having eaten there several times now I can say I've eaten a lot from the main menu and have never had any problems whatsoever. The staff are attentive, polite and even spark into some friendly conversation which is nice. They have a reasonable lunch time offer for 2 course or three course meals. They also offer pre-theatre menus too. Can't fault the place.

You will find greenery running all upside the walls as well as a fantastic view of the canal. In the evening the ambience inside is also great. Reservations are available but you can usually get in without too much of a wait time. On this occasion I ordered a spinach and mushroom crepe which was fantastic! It's probably my favourite vegetarian dish that they do. It's a sensible portion that leaves you satisfied. For dessert I ordered the praline crepe which was again fantastic. You generally find with dessert crepes that they can do no bad no matter where your buying it from. Cotes crepes are above standard in terms of quality with a light pancake and not overly sweet praline feeling. For me in particular this restaurant shines in the summer. The cocktails are great and the dining experience is unique.

It was the best meal I have had this year. It's a small, friendly little place in a quaint Gloucestershire town. With about 20-30 covers, it's not a big restaurant and it has a family feel about it; with none of the distance or formality you'd get in a big city Michelin Starred restaurant. The food is astonishing. Rich, deep flavours. Beautiful presentation. Perfectly chosen crockery. Nice touches like a small loaf of bread that is half white and half brown. My friends had duck which looked good (in an objective way - I'm vegetarian so it's not my cup of tea!). I had a choice of six veggie dishes which could be served as either starter or main course. I chose a salad and gnocchi which were both excellent. Two-course lunch on the set menu with a nice bottle of wine - which I didn't try because I was the designated pilot for the return journey - plus coffees and a tip came to £140, I think. Which is pretty good for this level of culinary loveliness. I have been to two- and three-star restaurants and had worse food. (Parkheuvel in Rotterdam had three stars when I went there and it was *much* worse, for example.) 5 North Street has a richly deserved star. Only the Michelin's obsession with rococo details like location, fancy formal service, tasting menus, artwork and so on plus, I think, a feeling that restaurants can't be good if they're small stop this place getting more stars. Personally, I would give it three stars right now. It's that good. I feel like the man who discovered The Beatles. This is a great restaurant and well worth a special trip to visit it.
