My 2 Maytag year old frig all of the sudden went out on me, the freezer still works. Stressed and overly bummed, I saw reviews on YELP and called the first one with great reviews- The Freezer Guy early in the morning. Within 10 mins, David returned my call and unfortunately, he was out of town. David proceeded to help me on the phone with the process of elimination. He gave me great tips and walked me through some of the common issues and reassured me. What a wonderful person. He definitely did not have to spend 15 mins on his cell in the morning giving me free advice. Regardless, I will have his number handy and will call him back next time. Yes, the Freezer Guy is very cool. I have 8 yr old Kirkland-Whirlpool small refrigerator. The freezer was cold enough but no cold airflow to the main compartment (veggies, beer, etc). Noticing a lot of ice in my frost-free freezer, I decided it might be the heating element or thermostat, both expensive items. After defrosting the unit and running a connectivity test on the heating element, I gave David a call and he gave me a few suggestions and maintenance tips, at no-charge. Our side by side refrigerator freezer went out July 4 weekend. I looked up some yelp reviews and decided to call the Freezer Guy (David). I called on the holiday expecting to leave a message and not hear back until the following day but David phoned me right back. He was not able to come that day (understandably) but came the next day. He noticed that the coils under the front grill needed cleaning (not sure why I didn't know you had to clean those) but i didn't. It still wasn't cooling down and he then was able to determine a faulty part that needed replacing. He had the part with him, replaced and it started to work immediately. I have an LG french door refrigerator for about less than 10 years. I noticed the ice melted, all my frozen food were thawed, it was making a weird sound every hour and the temperature of the refrigerator was not cold. I called Dave and was able to come in the next day. After examining the fridge, he said that it might be the compressor that was broken or a tiny leak somewhere. He mentioned that it's not worth fixing it. Two days later he called and said he wanted to try something that maybe worth fixing. If it doesn't work then I didn't have to pay. If it did It would not be much. He came over, did more testing to see if he can find the leak. He came to conclusion that the compressor was the issue. Our fridge was not working well, and based on previous reviews I contacted the Freezer Guy. He came the next day and figured the problem was caused by dirt. To make sure he checked everything and was seemingly glad that no parts needed to be replaced. He explained in an understandable way how the fridge works and gave suggestions how to use the fridge efficiently. The Freezer Guy has an hourly rate, and does not charge extra for just showing up. He worked for almost 2 hours, but only charged for 1.5 hours. He is a very honest and reliable guy. As a bonus, the Freezer Guy is a handsome guy too!! read more

We called David in for a second opinion and he came to the conclusion that all that was needed was a new start capacitor which turned out to be a $200 job! Our refrigerator stopped working on Christmas. I had one recommendation for appliance repair. Started calling on the 26th and when they didn't call back in 2 hours, I looked to Yelp for help. Another call, no return in 2. Called The Freezer Guy and David answered the call! He was booked into next week, but asked some questions and said that if it was what he thought it was, he could fit it in tomorrow. Half hour later, he called back. He had some time between appts and came over. Long story short, it was more serious than he thought and recommended we buy a new refrigerator instead of fixing it - only 10 yr old Amana.. :( Even after all of the time he spent, he wasn't going to charge us anything. Even though I had no work done by The Freezer Guy, I wanted to give my view of my communication with him. I left Dave a message Saturday afternoon describing my icemaker problem. He called back 30 minutes later and said he was booked for the next 3 weeks, and proceeded to give me other options I could try like Sears appliance and some other sites. I was kind of at a loss when my six year old refrigerator stopped working. I wasn't sure if that was the typical life span or if it was worth the expense of having a repair person come out. I was a little skeptical about having a repair guy come into my home and assumed the person would try to take advantage of my lack of knowledge in the area and gouge me w/a huge repair bill. Thankfully I utilized Yelp and found The Freezer Guy. I initially spoke with David on the phone and he spent a fair amount of time just trying to troubleshoot over the phone. When the suggestions didn't work he made time the following day to come over and check things out. David quickly diagnosed the start relay had stopped functioning.
