My review should be minus stars! Customer for 28 years but no longer! Went to email version. Cost ranged from $4.99 to$16.99 never consistent. Called many times and was told all would be corrected. Now l call, number no longer in service, other number, get busy signal. We need a local newspaper. Can't understand why you haven't made that happen. I am 1 star because I had to in order to review. I have been trying to cancel my subscription since Jan 2025 via phone. My first email was dated 2/6 2025 to which I never received a reply. Since then I have called every few weeks and spoke with a call center rep that was not local to our area. Each time they try to sell me a cheaper subscription. The newspapers keep being delivered and I do not read or want them. I have been promised each time by the rep in the call center that my subscription will be canceled and my credit card removed from the account only to have my card charged for yet another month. read more

I wish I didn't have to give this newspaper company Any star at all!! What a rip off!! I have been a customer for many years and this paper has gone way down hill,especially customer service. Now there is no way to contact them and no online service. Their recording keeps saying "technical issues" and then they suggest you call back during business hours (which I do) and then they cut you off ! DO NOT give FLS your credit card number or they will take it and run. I gave them mine for a 3 months online for $1.00. When it was ready to expire they sent me an email and said to continue your online subscription tap resubscribe. I didn't want to continue it so I didn't tap on it. A week later I have a $10.99 charge they put on my card to renew it that I did not authorize. I have contacted the fraud dept with my credit card and the BBB. If I don't get a refund in a reasonable amount of time I will go one step farther. read more

This newspaper has changed significantly over the years. I bought the paper yesterday and noticed the price has gone up from .50 to $2 and it looks like the paper is now 2 inches smaller than it use to be and most of the articles that I use to enjoy are no longer printed. I will stick to online reading because this paper is not worth it. read more

This has got be one of the worst newspapers I've ever read. The headlines are bullshit human interest stories. The sports section has never covered a UFC fight and has way too much NASCAR coverage. The paper has increased the cost of the paper and the paper itself has decreased in size and sections. Since the paper has moved from Amelia street in downtown Fredericksburg and relocated to Central Park it has gotten worse. We tried numerous times to get our paper put in the box below our mail slot but to no avail. It got thrown all over the place and at times was soaking wet from the weather. I got tired of having to call before 10:00 AM to get my paper replaced and every time I did call all they could say was sorry and we will give you a credit. That got so old over a period of 2 years we finally said just stop it, no amount of discount would bring us back. We do not miss this paper at all. read more

I have been a subscriber for years however the past 2 months the delivery has been outrageous. They said they are having problems getting a carrier for our location at Lake of the woods. Surely with the unemployment rate someone needs a job. Apparently they do not pay enough or the working conditions are terrible. I would not say this if they only needed carriers. Yesterdays Freelance Star advertised for approximately 5 different positions from route carrier to production to circulation manager. Good local paper. I am new to the city and this paper has been an excellent source of finding the local activities and festivals that are happening every day. They even deliver free papers from promotions that they run on occasion. Being a more traditional city I found out real quick that the best way to find out what was going on was to buy the paper. read more

No delivery for four days. In the peak of the storm when roads were the iciest got delivery to my front porch. Once roads cleared haven't received a paper since. If you can get through their abysmal phone system, when you reach a human they either hang up on you lie to you and/or blame you saying you have not contacted them. They then commit to a delivery which never happens. If you are a subscriber and have not had deliveries demand a credit and follow up to insure it happens. Since no longer locally owned they clearly don't care about customers. No wonder papers a folding daily. read more

What a disappointment of a newspaper. I use to look forward to getting the paper everyday but the lack of news they reported and now the size of the paper, I only get it on Sundays now. Recently my carrier can't remember to leave me a paper so half the time I don't get it and I have to call. How can you forget when there is a newspaper box in front of my house??? This is a horrible company to own a news reporting agency. They really need to be better managed in each department. So sad . read more

Had a subscription to the paper for at least 30 years and the last year has been awful! First it turns into a leftist rag and then you don't receive the paper on a regular basis. They want you to read it on line, but us old timers don't want to, that's why we pay for a subscription. Every day you don't receive the paper, they're supposed to add a day to your subscription, but that's also a joke. read more

My husband went to get his paper this morning and there was a black tape on it. So we figured that it has been stopped. We never got a bill or statement saying it was due. We got no warning or statement just stopped. What kind of business is this. We pay a fortune for it and we live on a fixed income. When you get to be our age you would think it would come down. My paper wasn't delivered last Wednesday so I had to call. When it was delivered it was just thrown in the driveway. It's Wednesday again...no paper. From 8:15 to 8:35 I called 5 times only to be put on hold 3 times ending in asking me to leave a message. The last 2 times I get a message that the office is closed. PATHETIC! read more
