I was at this location today and had a great experience. The store really isn't at fault but the in and out is a bit crazy with busy traffic. The coffee is pretty good and the staff are friendly. A nice Barnes and Noble with a Starbucks inside. The product offering is wide, especially for the size of the store. In particular I like the size of their manga and magazine sections. They also host events fairly regularly like author signings and game nights. The only minor criticism is that sometimes it's hard to find an employee for assistance, but that's not really their fault. read more

Loved this BN - very clean, new with a well designed nook area; lots of books still - it takes a lot of space to display all of the merch that BN is now selling. Their toy area is pretty huge. I noticed their media area much smaller than other BNs, and that's a good thing since those areas are not selling as much. Their media area had a lot of really good classic movies for cinephiles like me. Cafe area was very clean and everyone was nice. Getting here was a little odd with construction but not too hard. I recall they were open pretty late. read more

Many people especially in the Fredericksburg area felt let down when the previous bookstore, Borders, closed. About several months later, Barnes & Noble graced us with our presence and is now in the spot where Borders used to be. Being there aren't a lot of prominent bookstores in the area, something as large as Barnes & Noble is quite a sigh of relief. Not only do they build on what Borders left off, they've improved the layout about ten times. It's absolutely beautiful inside (maybe because it's a new store) but the books are easily laid out throughout the building. No longer is there a lot of clutter in the pathways, and the establishment is easily lit so that sections are easily visible the minute you walk in. That being said, the place doesn't look old or run-down like the previous Borders. It is sleek, simple, and clean. The staff is very helpful and know their information going from ordering books that are not held in the store to finding a specific book for your needs. The cashier line also isn't awkward as it was before. Before there used to be a large amount of miscellaneous clutter that could tempt you to buy something you don't need. Here, each register has it's own line. Again, the cashiers themselves are attentive and alert. At the old Borders, there was a certain sense of lethargy that was present. One last area is the cafe which has a lot more room than before. It feels more professional but still relaxed enough that you can have a short business meeting on lunch, or get a couple friends together to discuss everyone's favorite book. The Barnes & Noble here is a place you can enjoy along with a good selection of books. If you're not careful, you may lose several hours of your day enjoying a book and getting comfortable with the ambience! read more

If I could them no stars I would. I went in looking for a story from Greek mythology. First I saw THE ONLY person working customer service walk away to help another customer. So I went to the cashier, "we don't look that up, customer service can help you" I said she isn't there and the lady replied "I can see her." So I walk back to customer service and this lady is on the phone doing everything she can for the customer on the phone-"just tell them Amy said no shipping on the book". So I think to myself that she is going to help me. I ask for the title. She tells me they don't have it. So I said what about ordering it "well it won't go out till Monday and it takes 3-5 business days". So not in time for Valentines Day, she replies with no. I ask well is there any book with this Greek myth in it-"I don't know I can only search by name." I'm frustrated, so cutting her off because she asked he next customer if she could help her, I ask where is the Greek mythology section? Amy says behind the nook and points in the direction. She doesn't show me, she doesn't show any service at all. I thought maybe it's just me but she showed the man before me and the woman after me. I found the book on my own and bought it. The cashier doesn't ask if I want a membership. By the way I would have. This is the worse experience I have ever had at Barnes and Noble!!!! What happened???? read more

I love going into Barnes & noble. I am not really a big book reader, but they always seem to have something that grabs my eye and attention. They have more than just books, games, toys, kids, stationary etc. Great place to unwind. read more

Would someone tell me why I can't get quiche to go Unheated, but I can get something like potato salad (with mayo) from a deli to go. Every time I turn around there is a new person in the cafe that tells me I can't get takeout unheated. Why?? It's fully cooked. Then I get a new mgr that tries to tell me its a matter of sanitation. That they keep trying to spread the word that I can have quiche "my way". Here's what you do - real easy. hold a two minute meeting every day about customer complaints until you get it resolved. read more

I love bookstores, but I will most likely never purchase a book from here. It is just so much cheaper online. They do have a great selection of books, and it is fun to walk around a browse. Also, the staff generally leaves you alone when you are browsing (meaning they don't keep asking you if you need help), but are easily identifiable and available when you do have a question. read more

Very nice atmosphere. The cafe area is always a nice place to chill for a couple hours. The cafe pizza is pretty tasty, plus they sale Izze and cream soda, which are my two favorite bottled beverages. The staff are friendly. Only downside to this BN is that it is only a one story building. However, the book selection is still great. They have organized it very nicely. read more

I prefer Barnes and Noble to Borders and Books A Million. This one is exceptionally clean and organized, they also have plenty of staff on hand who are helpful with recommendations as well as assisting customers to find books and merchandise that they're looking for. read more

The first and last time in here to get my drinks from Starbucks -Barnes and Noble .The baristas were either New or they don't know what they're doing:-/ the cashier was weird ..I think her name was Brock" .. I just didn't feel a connection it was awkward ... she was off. Anyhow! I ordered one of the breakfast sandwiches and it was cold from the middle disgustingly taste. Also you can't use your rewards here or upload your card "your Starbuks rewards" smh so yeah don't recommend anyone coming here just for the coffee and Fraps! Huge selection. We made it there in time for story time. It was cute. We wanted to exchange a item for the same thing but it a different style (elf on the shelf) we had a gift receipt. Since the gifter had a membership they wanted us to pay the difference. For the same item. We demanded to speak to a manager who made us feel like we were ripping them off. It was crazy. Clean, well-lit, well-stocked and organized. Like most B&N's, not enough clerks up front, but their queue is better-defined than most, and the store is relatively quiet for such a large location. They have a really big scifi/fantasy and graphic novels section, which I always enjoy browsing. read more
