We were very satisfied with the room and it fit our needs, A pleasant sleep and an adequate breakfast in the morning before doing a bit of local exploring in Portsmouth (we had no interest in the outlets). The Hampton Inn in Portsmouth was more expensive so we were happy this less expensive option turned out to be good.

Hampton Inn Management Needs to Address This. Absolutely Unacceptable Customer Service…read more I've stayed at plenty of hotels, and I have NEVER been treated so poorly by a front desk employee. We were attending a 3 PM wedding, so I called the day before to inquire about early check-in. The employee I spoke with was lovely, explained it wasn't guaranteed, and suggested calling the next morning. Completely reasonable. The woman working the following day, however, was shockingly rude, condescending, and completely unwilling to help. She made me feel ridiculous for even asking, essentially suggesting I should have spent another $300 to book an additional night. After FOUR calls, multiple lengthy holds, and repeated instructions to call back, she told me the customer in front of her was her priority. When I reminded her that I was also a paying guest and asked how I was supposed to know when she'd be available, her actual response was, "You don't." Is this seriously Hampton Inn's standard of hospitality? When my husband finally went inside, she falsely accused me of repeatedly hanging up on her. She also claimed housekeeping was on lunch break. With an 11 AM checkout and 3 PM check-in, why aren't housekeeping breaks staggered during the busiest room turnover hours? This seems like basic hotel management. When I finally checked in, she barely acknowledged my existence. Even more concerning, another wedding guest independently shared that this same employee had treated her rudely simply for asking whether there was somewhere to change clothes. Let me be clear: I wasn't demanding early check-in. I was expecting basic courtesy, communication, and professionalism. Apparently, that was too much to ask. One rude interaction is disappointing. Multiple hostile interactions with multiple guests suggest a much bigger problem. Hampton Inn management should be seriously concerned that an employee representing their brand is making paying guests feel this unwelcome. This experience completely overshadowed our stay, and I sincerely hope management takes it seriously.

On the advice from Samantha Brown (name drop), we decided to take a week off from our "busy"…read moreretired lives and visit the Wentworth Inn in Newcastle, New Hampshire. And are we glad we did. Although a change in ownership over the years was a surprise, the new owners kept up the charm and elegance I would expect from a resort-style establishment. From my first phone call, to the bellhop, to the front desk, to the absolutely fantastic dinner(s) and breakfast, the entire team was there for us to ensure our needs were met at every step. The Wentworth met our every expectation. A special shout out to our dinner wait-staff (Skye). Skye took the time to explain the menu and to offer other options for the ever chasing "Best Lobster Roll" in New England. Naturally, Skye recommended the Wentworths own in house Restaurant (The Salt K&B) so we went for it the next evening and Skye was absolutely spot on. Their Lobster Roll was spectacular. The "Best" in New England may be up for debate, but we were very happy with this and all other meals we enjoyed during our visit. Solid five stars folks to the entire team at the Wentworth Inn in Newcastle, New Hampshire. The Opal group has other facilities closer to us, which we'll be checking out soon. Check this place on folks you will not be disappointed.

And when the poke bowl came out the tuna was so fresh and lightly seared, sesame encrusted and absolutely amazing. The rice was sticky and cooked perfectly and everything had some kind of green goddess wasabi sauce that was delicious. Everything was fresh and so flavorful. Then we had spa treatments and April really helped me with my CRPS by starting the massage on my neck face up and it's something I will be bringing into the future with other therapists. It was overall an incredible experience and we can't wait to recreate it play by play here soon!

This was an absolutely great find. On Hotel Tonight, the app, you can be very lucky with what comes…read moreup and you never know what you'll find. Not sure if it's because of the season (probably because of the season LOL) but the room price was incredibly reasonable. It was between this place & the Howard Johnson's. No offense to Howard Johnsons, but this place kind of like, blew it out of the water you could say. I got this room on short notice because I had to be in the area and I didn't have a lot of time to find a place to stay. I didn't do much research before booking it, but that was no problem because it turned out to be perfect. Upon entry you see that it is an adorable house, kind of like a bed-and-breakfast but without the breakfast part. Although I found that I didn't need it. The proprietor, Doug, was very friendly and helpful upon giving me the code to enter the house. He explained that there were restaurant recommendations and further explanations of the amenities on the yellow sheet of paper on the table in the middle of the room. That would be very helpful to out-of-towners. When you walk into the space, you enter into a living room area, at least in my room. It's small but perfectly furnished with a love seat and a comfortable black rattan chair. A small dining tables behind it with a kitchen immediately to your right. The kitchen was well outfitted with anything you might need to cook. Behind all this was a bed, I think it was a queen size, may have been a king, wasn't really paying attention but it was beautiful with lovely linen and perfect throw pillows. The bathroom was a large with a washer dryer which should be fantastic for extended-stay guests. The whole place looks brand new and was immaculately kept and smelled fantastic. Everything worked, as far as the black out curtains that you could pull down, the TV, the heat etc. He also has a good selection of liquor wine and beer for purchase in the room at modest prices. Everything was great, the only two things I would suggest would be to stock coffee for the morning with the coffee maker. There's creamers in the fridge which is kind of a tease considering there's no coffee, as a coffee junkie I was a little disappointed, but the place is great I definitely could look past it. Also in the bathroom the bathtub stopper did not work so I couldn't take a bath and the water pressure was pretty bad. These were definitely not something that would steer me away from staying here again however. The proprietor looked as if he would be right on it the second anyone mentioned something defective in the room. As I've said before, I would recommend this hotel to anyone in the area. It's really cute, really clean, in a great area, with a wonderful owner. Definitely check it out and enjoy your stay :-)

He was there when we check- in about 6:30 and in the morning when we came down for coffee before we went back for breakfast. When we walked into the hotel it smelled musty. Our bed and bedding were comfortable and clean. I did check for bugs though. The room had a fridge, microwave, ironing board, iron and a safe. The continental breakfast had a nice selection of cereals, buns, yogurt, bananas, apples and also had a waffle machine. The area was really clean and the manager kept making sure it all stayed well stocked. Nice little tables set around the room, & airy. The also had the TV on. There were a lot of people with families staying there. Come on Clark When we first got there we were given a room in the smoking section. As soon as we walked through those doors the smoke smell was horrible but I thought the room would be ok. We opened the door and didn't step in. We went back to the front desk and asked for a non smoking room and he said no problem. When we walked through the doors on the other side no smell. We opened the door to our room and no funky smell. However my first thought was it was dingy. The room was dark even with the curtains open and there was no overhead light for the room except where you walk in. So the only light was from lamps. The bathroom was clean but you could see some ceiling tiles were warping. There was ground in dirt on some tiles. The other thing that was not positive was the TV which is on satellite. You literally could not watch a show through because it constantly went out. Someone else mentioned it on a review and yes its a thing. I took a few pictures. Management should go to cable or fix their satellite dish. We had been traveling for 16 hours that day and pure exhaustion was why we stayed. After reading other reviews I won't be going back and Im thankful I didn't see some of the stuff they saw Hotel prices have gone up considerably and for 1 night it came to about $300 which was unbelievable but it was the only place that still had a room. Other hotels are anywhere from $386 to over $400 and thats for chain hotels too.
