The parking space was ample. Check in was quick. I am not certain but it looked like this hotel was rebranded from a different owner. The room was clean. There was an indoor pool. Fitness center did not look functional. It only had 8-lb weights aside from 2 treadmills. The continental breakfast selection had a little variety compared to others. So I have mixed feelings about this hotel so I will start with the good stuff. First the man who worked the front desk was very nice. He was there when we check- in about 6:30 and in the morning when we came down for coffee before we went back for breakfast. When we walked into the hotel it smelled musty. Our bed and bedding were comfortable and clean. I did check for bugs though. The room had a fridge, microwave, ironing board, iron and a safe. The continental breakfast had a nice selection of cereals, buns, yogurt, bananas, apples and also had a waffle machine. The area was really clean and the manager kept making sure it all stayed well stocked. Nice little tables set around the room, & airy. The also had the TV on. There were a lot of people with families staying there. Come on Clark When we first got there we were given a room in the smoking section. As soon as we walked through those doors the smoke smell was horrible but I thought the room would be ok. We opened the door and didn't step in. We went back to the front desk and asked for a non smoking room and he said no problem. When we walked through the doors on the other side no smell. We opened the door to our room and no funky smell. However my first thought was it was dingy. The room was dark even with the curtains open and there was no overhead light for the room except where you walk in. So the only light was from lamps. The bathroom was clean but you could see some ceiling tiles were warping. There was ground in dirt on some tiles. The other thing that was not positive was the TV which is on satellite. You literally could not watch a show through because it constantly went out. Someone else mentioned it on a review and yes its a thing. I took a few pictures. Management should go to cable or fix their satellite dish. We had been traveling for 16 hours that day and pure exhaustion was why we stayed. After reading other reviews I won't be going back and Im thankful I didn't see some of the stuff they saw Hotel prices have gone up considerably and for 1 night it came to about $300 which was unbelievable but it was the only place that still had a room. We were here for just 1 night. My husband said the staff were friendly (I had no interaction with anyone), but I have to concur with many of the reviews on Yelp. This place is OLD. The pool was not available, as it is out of season, even though it was indoors. The hall we went down to our room smelled of pot, and later on, it smelled like refried fried food. Thank goodness we were on the end of the hall, so the smells didn't follow us. Once in the room, you could see that some things needed to be replaced, and most definitely updated. However, our bed (king size) was very comfortable, and we had enough pillows. We were able to keep the heat regulated. The shower water pressure was great, and stayed hot for the duration of the shower. The tv was small, but ok. Outlets were not near tables to rest a phone, etc on, and charging ports would be a great improvement, and maybe even rearranging the furniture would help. We are not sure we would have stayed here more than 1 or 2 nights max. read more

We stayed there for two nights. On the second night my partner woke up in the middle of the night with bites. After stripping the bed we found two bed bugs. We went the front desk and asked them to help us and not charge us for the room. The person at the desk called his manager and told us that they "Do not work on Sundays". He tried to tell us that we brought in the bugs. We asked if they could give us some clear plastic bags and they reluctantly gave us two plastic bags so we could bag everything up. After an hour they called us back and said they would give us half our money back for one night. I cannot recommend them at all. read more

Giving this 1 star is even not right. -10 stars seems more fitting. Due to Covid no pool and no breakfast set my trip off to a rocky start. Waited 15 minutes for someone to come to the desk to check us in at 2 pm. The manager was rude and condescending. We went to room set our stuff down and went out for shopping. We didn't look at room. Coming back to room found it to be dusty. The bathroom was falling apart from the toilet to the tiles. Random hair on the floor by the toilet. There were burn holes in the bedding and stains on any surfaces that could hold one tub, sink, toilet, towels, sheets, carpets. When checking out I had 2 charges of different amounts on my card. The manager insisted I was wrong yet I could clearly see 139.97 and 129.97 had been removed from my account by the hotel. Overall horrible and no customer service at all. read more

My friends and I arrived super late Thursday (around 2am Friday morning actually), and after an 8 hour drive all we wanted to do was get to our room and relax. When we got there, the gentleman at the desk was pretty rude to my friend who had booked the room. My friend questioned the room rate that was on the printout, and the guy basically told him that if he didn't like the rates there, he could go elsewhere. He also brought up the fact that "fine, you leave and I can make more money on the room". He also made it a point to point out that there we would be sol if we did try and go elsewhere, basically saying pay or be screwed. I would like to add that he did become more pleasant as our stay went on though. We had also had an extra person with us, but the reservation was only for two. This is the first hotel that I've ever stayed at where there's a written policy on the wall stating that it's 50 extra bucks per person that isn't listed on the reservation. Mind you, we had a room with two double beds. Luckily, the counter guy backed off on that one and let us go on our way once we said screw it and signed the paper. Got to our room, and just like every other review on here states, it freaking smelled. Actually, the whole hotel had a mold/must smell going on. The whole place just felt kind of gross, and numerous people in our party were complaining of the mold messing with allergies and whatnot (myself included). For the price we paid, we were expecting something a heck of a lot better than this. I've stayed at hotels that were 100 times better and for a fraction of the cost. Housekeeping didn't even come the first day of our stay, and the only reason we knew they had come the second day was the presence of clean towels. The beds were still left unmade. Some friends had also rented out what they call a "suite". To me, a suite is something that has a sitting area, beds, etc. Don't expect that at this hotel. Their "suite" is just the normal room with 2 queen beds that has a tiny separate room with another bed in it. Nothing special. If you're not a fan of kids, this isn't the place for you. They're everywhere. Trying to get breakfast in the morning was a nightmare and at times in the night it sounded like there was a herd of elephants running laps in the room above ours and down the hall. They do have "pet-friendly" rooms here, and you can bring a pet for 25 dollars. This kind of made me laugh a little because it costs less to bring a pet with you than it does to have an extra person join you in a room that's designed for it. Umm, ok. Checking out also became somewhat of a chore. My friend specifically told the counter guy (same one that checked us in) that he wanted to pay for the room on a different card that it was booked. The guy ran the original card anyway, and it took about 5 minutes to get the point across that wasn't what we wanted. It wasn't all horrible. If there was a rating lower than 1 star I would give it. The front desk person was nice when checking in so maybe 1 star is about right. My room was a "non-smoking" room, yet the entire wing smelled like stale cigarettes. It was only for several hours so I thought I could deal with it as I checked in pretty late. The carpet was dirty, lumpy and clearly not well maintained. The carpet was covering a subfloor that had what appeared to be holes. The wall repair, painting and carpentry was gross to look at. No quality in the care of this room whatsoever. The sheets had blackish marks from what appeared to be the cleaning persons hands. I slept fully clothed. The bathroom floor was very slippery, but the sink and toilet were functional. The shower water did not drain well so I showered in a puddle of dirty water. The satellite tv was intermittent and was SD not HD. This seems petty but it was the first NFL game of the year which I ended up watching on my phone. The following issues were brought up to the front desk the next day with no resolution. I wouldn't recommend this motel feeling trash to my worst enemy. I travel about 10 times per year and this is clearly the worst "hotel" that I've ever stayed in. Stay at your own risk, you're better off sleeping in your car. read more

Stayed here for one night. The employees at reception were nice, however I was very disappointed with the room. When I walked in, there was $2 on the dresser beside the tv. I then looked over and noticed that the beds were not made. After setting my belongings down, i went into the bathroom where I found several used towels on the counter, and the sink had coffee stains. The room was clearly not cleaned and taken care of in between the last guests and myself. I would not recommend staying here. read more

The building: The staff are very friendly, but the building needs a complete overhaul. Everything is very dated and worn. The hallways all smell musty and old. The carpets are worn and there is no elevator to get from floor to floor. The amenities: Breakfast was great, cereal, fruit, tea, coffee, boiled eggs, yogurt, waffles, toast. It really was a complete breakfast, not standard continental. The pool room is in the basement and that entire floor smells gross and terrible. The pool room was dimly lit, hot, stuffy, not at all enjoyable. I was really disappointed by this. I was starting to react to the damp moldy smell on that floor so I did not check out the sauna. Wifi in the room worked fine for me. The rooms: Our room was dated and old like the rest of the place, but it had working AC, a fridge, TV, the usual things. Nothing special. The sheets, blankets, pillows, mattress all had a very worn vibe to them. The TV seemed newer, but reception was terrible, first several channels were all snow. The fridge made a rattling noise all night long, very loud and annoying. The bathrooms were ok, but the ceiling panels were warped, so there were gaps in the ceiling. We could also hear everything overhead from the floor above. Overall this place is nothing special. I wouldn't stay here again unless I had to. The price for what you get is outrageous. Problem is, everywhere else was booked. Another woman at breakfast asked us if this wasn't the most ghetto Ramada ever, and I have to agree. read more

This is what happens when you wait until last minute to make motel reservations on a busy summer weekend. It came down to Ramada or a Norman Bates special way over in Sanford. Ramada seemed the safer bet of the two so we booked the room secretly hoping we would be taking advantage of the 24 hour cancellation policy upon finding better accommodations. No such luck on the motel vacancy search and we checked into Ramada on Saturday. The staff seemed friendly and pleasant so we did feel welcomed. My first impression of the hotel lobby was its lack of light and the dark, dingy green carpeting. There are no elevators in this building so we got our workout on hiking it up to the third floor with luggage. The first floor had a very bad smell of mold or mildew which thankfully disappeared by the time we reached our floor. Our room seemed decent and fairly clean upon entering - a very basic room with very uncomfortable mattresses. I was pleased with the amount of towels provided in the room. Usually I need to ask for more during a motel stay, but we had a generous supply. The room also had plenty of extra little conveniences - fridge, iron, coffee maker, and the TV screen was actually larger than mine at home... Sigh :/ This motel has an indoor pool only. I really wanted a quick swim since it was such a hot day. An outdoor pool option would have been even better. The pool area is also dimly lit as is the rest of the motel and the only windows here are placed very close to the ceiling. There was not much natural light and It wasn't a room I felt comfortable spending much time in. As I swam a mystery object floated against my arm. It was soft and not very visible. My best guess was a clump of hair - ugh! This put an abrupt end to my swim. A continental breakfast is served in the morning. The breakfast room has a few tables and a TV. Food choices include waffles, fruit, pastries, and yogurt, but none of it looked very appetizing so we decided to go out for breakfast instead. This is pretty much a dive hotel located close to the highway offering convenience to tired travelers or Kittery Outlet shoppers. It is overpriced during summer months and guests certainly do not get what they pay for. Note to self- Be sure to book ahead on busy summer weekends in order to avoid another "last resort." read more

wow, simply wow. SO. This was the first night of our 7 day journey around New England. Now, in the past we had stayed at UNH. Dorm rooms and no AC, but great food. Last year we were at the Best Western in Portsmouth, which was GREAT. Unfortunately, this year, our bike ride coincided with the NASCAR race - so, if you are a hotel, do you give a hotel group rate to 220+ people, or do you over charge to nascar fans - cant blame the Best Western for this one. We we scrambled, and had to find someplace. The Ramada in Kittery was a little further away, but could work or so we thought The bad (cause there really wasnt much good) 1. First, we got their. The hotel staff decided to change all teh room assignments. Yes, we gave them a list of 220+ people, and who each was rooming with. Apparently the hotel did not see this as sufficient, and reassigned random people into rooms. One girl went into her room, that she was suppose to be sharing with her good female friend, and there was a naked guy standing there. WOOPS! Which of course was better than me, who they said did not HAVE a room. Yup. i wasnt on the list, I was 'removed' um, why? (and it was eventually figured out, but really) 2. Lo and behold I should have seen this as a sign. Our AC didnt work (I mean, it was only 90 out), our TV remove didnt work, which was fine, since the tv was not even clean. The beds weren't comfy, and the whole place stanched of mold. Not a good place to stay! 3. The food. Dinner on Saturday night was from an outside source, so cant comment on that. Breakfast the next day. Horrid. limp soggy bacon, powdered eggs, stale bread BEFORE it was toasted. I am VERY happy I got to stop for a lobster roll 3 hours later (see other reviews) The ONLY good thing about the place? They let us all hang out drinking in the parking lot (our own beer). We were here because we had no other option. And really, if you are on a normal trip or travelling, and dont need showers, a place to store bikes, etc - then you are better off in your car then this hotel, even if it is a last resort. read more

This hotel is like walking into a time warp!! Very outdated. The whole hotel has a musty smell and it was quite obvious we were in a smoking room from days gone by. You just can't get rid of that smell. The AC wasn't great. The toilet seat slid all over, and I swear if we gave a real hard push, the toilet would have tumbled over. The first night we killed a fruit fly and thought that was the end of it. Well, for the next two nights we always had more flying around. So annoying! The WiFi is horrible. The dance you have to do to just sign in is absurd at best. Once you finally log in you are kicked off and on and the buffering to load any website is maddening. The "cable" TV is also a stretch. It's basic cable with grainy channels and one or two channels that occasionally come in clear. The one star was for the pleasant staff. It's a total tear down! read more

Stayed here for 6 days for work. Staff was very friendly and nice! I know this one gentleman everyone complains about, he is maybe in his 60s. During my stay i talked to him for once for what time is house keeping. Legitimately gave me the incorrect time good thing i finished my conference call before he came. Either than that he gives an unfriendly vibe so i talk to the ladies or someone else. Correct there are NO ELEVATORS. Stairs for all the floors, cmon its not that horrible to use stairs. Stayed on the 3rd floor and yes the Wifi is bipolar. My room was very clean with extra towels. Housekeeper card listed is ROLINDA, but no it is a man. He is very friendly and nice! He services the room fast and gives out extra towlietries. If he comes across you in the hall he will ask if you want to be serviced or not. The do not distrub sign, really means what it says. The hotel does have a weird old hotel smell. Just constantly sleep with the AC on.. you will be fine. They do have an indoor swimming pool and dry suana. Warning if you are blonde, your hair will turn a nasty shade of green... took me 2 days to get it out. The dry suana was pretty neat, they have instructions to bounce in and out of the showers they have there. The showers are not clean but if you have shower shoes, kudos! Overrall pretty chill. Im usually a gym junkie but the gym was pathetic. Good thing i travel with my insantiy dvds. I drive a bmw, the car was safe during my stay. Parking lot has plenty of parking and is lighted. The area is across the street from a fire station. The area is safe! You can make your own waffles and continental goodies. I usually grab a banana and yogurt. Nothing fancy, but it was a cheap stay. Compared to the rates around kittery/portsmouth area. Even MOTELS in this area would be $90-100 a night. Look on various websites for the best deals. read more

Breakfast area was ok, but whenever we needed something refilled , the front desk person had to go in back looking for it because there weren't any other workers around. When housekeeping staff showed up , they stood in breakfast area and I've kept snort my through her nose ( sucking in her snot) sorry to be so crude , but it's disgusting to listen to when you're trying to eat. I love the Ramada brand, however this hotel fell very short. There was a very strong musty, moldy type smell throughout the entire hotel. I'm very big on saving money (with kids in tow) i choose this hotel because of the name brand and the pool. This was the First Ramada I have seen with old school TV'S The pool area is kept around 95 plus degrees not what I'm use to for an indoor pool (otherwise it was clean and towels were provided and the kids loved it) they said the pool temp was nice and cozy. The hotel is located right behind a truck stop first thing I thought was hooker hotel. But there were no issues at all. On a good note they do provide free breakfast and they have a self serv waffle station, a juice station and cold cearal station. Overall the only reason I wouldn't stay here again, is because of the strong musty smell read more

This place was so gross we didn't even end up staying. We arrived at 2 (one hour before check in but we stayed in early November; the place was a ghost town). As you walk inside you encounter two seriously overflowing trash cans. And before the doors even open all the way, you get hit with a musty, cigarette smoke smell. Even though there were like 2 cars in the parking lot, the guy at the desk seemed irritated we even bothered checking in an hour early. He scoffed and said "nothing is clean!". A mix between cat pee and mildew. The ice machine was broken but they had a small cooler in lobby. So every day is "leg day" at the Ramada in Kittery because they have no elevator. I'm young and able and had no problem hiking the 20 odd steps up to the second floor with my luggage, but for 200+ dollars a night, I should have the option to exercise or not. Once you walk upstairs you enter the hallway in route to your room which smells musty and of stale cigarette smoke. Aside from finding only two squares left on the toilet paper roll, the rooms were clean. The bathroom was a bit out dated with the wallpaper peeling off in some areas, and old drop ceiling tiles. It looks like they have done more recent updates on the countertops, and the room furniture so it's a start. On a positive note, the staff were great and breakfast was decent for what it was (free continental). Despite the convenient location to all things kittery, I would spend the extra money to stay somewhere nicer, equally convenient. read more

Room smelled like pot, the bug climbing on the wall was large and confident, the mold in the shower was intimidating, the tiles in the bathroom floor were loose, many of the lights worked which means some didn't. The proprietor was willing to let me change rooms until he saw I booked through booking.com, I didn't think that would make me "less than" and when I expressed shock he said many people were paying $100+ more than I. He promptly ended the conversation. Isn't it the hotel that agrees to work with the third party? I forgot to mention that "the others who were paying more" must have been shuttles in because the parking lot was empty and there seemed not to be many others in the halls. When I asked how he could not be embarrassed by my comments he shrugged and said people are paying it. If I were Ramada I would shut this dive down. It has surely ruined my opinion of their hotels. OH!! He did offer me 25% off my best stay if I booked through them. I assured him I will never, ever consider this hotel again. I remember a life lesson my father taught me when I was a head strong 20 something year old. "Don't only look and recall the bad, find and remember the good in all things" Okay, so on with my review. I'll keep it sort of short. The staff at this Hotel was VERY friendly and helpful. The room was spacious and clean. The Bed was comfortable (I'm very picky about beds) and the window in the room actually opened. The bathroom was clean (a little dated but it was clean nonetheless). Location was near to a lot of dining (about a mile to get to the good stuff) and sights to see. So there's the stock of it. I live my life on the road traveling from the east to the west coast and all points in between. There are very few places I will consider a home away from home. I actually only have a few. This RAMADA is now one of the stops in my travels that I WILL ALWAYS stay at. If your looking for the Ritz Carlton, then go there. If you are looking for a Comfy/Cozy little respite in a setting where the staff is friendly, helpful, amazing. This is your stop. It's priced reasonably and well worth your hard earned money. All I can say to others that had bad service is "You only get back what you give to others" - I don't give really good reviews often but felt this place deserved the few minutes it took to type this out. Room service comes at 4pm which means I had my room cleaned only three times out of 10 nights total I stayed. This is the most disgusting and trashy hotel I've ever been to. I am NEVER staying here again. And I do NOT recommend. Run away. Wifi doesn't work 90% of the time and the entire hotel smells musty and like cigarettes. This is a great place if you need exercise and don't mind dealing with a dirty room. No elevator, which was ok for my traveling companion and myself but might not be a hit for everyone else. The place was a pit. The room was dirty and there were cheap gel airfreshners hidden through out. I felt I paid too much an an awkward room that was just plain disgusting. I gave it an overall 3 stars but the service was 4 stars. The young lady working when we checked in was friendly and helpful. The rooms were very clean. The building itself was a bit rundown we had a busted light cover in the bathroom but the light worked. I got more than I expected for $75. I came prepared with my own bedding but didn't feel the need to use it. The breakfast was exactly what I expected for the price. They had Belgium waffle you make yourself and the rest was store bought pastries and cereal/ oatmeal. The coffee was fresh and hot. The room where they served breakfast was cold, we were they in the middle of an early snow storm. I will stay there again when visiting family. read more

The best thing about this hotel is the location. Minutes from the Kittery outlets, great restaurants, Portsmouth, and I-95, it's the perfect central location. But the hotel itself is just disappointing. We had a suite with three Queen-size beds, and even though the suite included two rooms, it was still hopelessly cramped. No seating area, barely room to move in the second room, only one nightstand between the two beds in the larger room. The decor was Spartan at best. A refrigerator and a dirty microwave were housed in the dresser. There was a large TV in the bigger room but the smaller room included an old-style 27-inch TV. The mattresses were rock-hard while the pillows were marshmallow soft. Wi-Fi was free, but you get what you pay for. It was painfully slow, when it worked. The bathroom was actually roomy, but I was nervous at the sight of a plunger next to the toilet. The handle on the toilet was loose. The shower and vanity were fine, though the drain in the tub was slow. The fitness room and pool were in a mostly deserted basement that my young cousin described as "creepy." She was right; I was nervous at being down there by myself. The fitness room included two treadmills, an elliptical machine that didn't appear to work, and a bike that also didn't work. The fitness room was also hot. One fan near the door helped some, but the other fan near the treadmills was mounted on the wall too far away from the outlet to plug it in. The pool was a good size, but the water was murky. My young cousins wouldn't use it. The continental breakfast included waffle makers plus the usual cereal, tiny muffins, toast, hard boiled eggs, and fruit. The real shame of this is that the hotel had no restaurant or bar. The restaurants in Kittery and most of those in Portsmouth close at 9:00 or 10:00 pm. You have almost no options after that time. If the Ramada had a restaurant or bar that served food until midnight or 2 a.m., they would do a huge business. The hotel as a whole is shabby and really needs updating. It's just very no-frills, which you'd never know by the price of the rooms. It's clean, which I do appreciate, and the staff was very nice. That plus the location are the only reasons to stay here. read more

Had problems when we resevered our room. They said we were in smoking when we werent. We called and changed it and it was confirmed. When we went to check in they said we were in smoking still and wouldnt change us to non smoking. AC was broken in dining room. Our floors were disgusting. Bathroom rans rattled. Room price vs. Value were not equal. read more
