Starting with driving up, there is a big sign at the entrance from the main road but once you make the turn into the area you have to go left and keep driving around the buildings. There could be more signage to the front but I did find it. Staff at checkin were friendly and helpful. Going up to our room it would have been nice to have at least two elevators there but the one worked. Rooms were clean and spacious. And we found out that they are pretty sound proof as we had two kids being pretty loud in one room but we couldn't hear them in the adjacent room. Saw their safe in the room and as I wondered how it's programmed I saw the card slide so you use your room key to lock it. Ac unit worked very well. TV seemed easy to use. If Iv had one complaint it would be that although they have a restaurant on site, they don't do the free continental breakfast that other places do. Didn't reflect affect us as we went out for breakfast. All in all a good stay.

Nasty bathroom upon arrival. Kleenex box stuffed and the toilet had hair all over it (not ours) Gross

We have stayed at this Ports Courtyard for over 10 years when visiting our son. This is the last time. Not clean and staff doesnt care. They want good $$ to stay here but just not worth it. Saw a worker on our way out headed upstairs with a bedbug canister to spray somewhere.

Stayed here overnight for one night last week during a business trip to Portsmouth, NH. Your typical Courtyard experience. Clean and consistent. My one criticism was the bed. The mattress was way to soft and mushy. It killed my back. I did not see any way to change the firmness of the mattress. The WiFi worked reasonably well, the room was clean and comfortable, the HVAC worked well, the room had a mini-fridge to keep my drinks chilled, and the HD TV worked well. If their is a way to change to a firmer mattress - I will consider staying here again. #CourtyardPortsmouth #Marriott

On the advice from Samantha Brown (name drop), we decided to take a week off from our "busy"…read moreretired lives and visit the Wentworth Inn in Newcastle, New Hampshire. And are we glad we did. Although a change in ownership over the years was a surprise, the new owners kept up the charm and elegance I would expect from a resort-style establishment. From my first phone call, to the bellhop, to the front desk, to the absolutely fantastic dinner(s) and breakfast, the entire team was there for us to ensure our needs were met at every step. The Wentworth met our every expectation. A special shout out to our dinner wait-staff (Skye). Skye took the time to explain the menu and to offer other options for the ever chasing "Best Lobster Roll" in New England. Naturally, Skye recommended the Wentworths own in house Restaurant (The Salt K&B) so we went for it the next evening and Skye was absolutely spot on. Their Lobster Roll was spectacular. The "Best" in New England may be up for debate, but we were very happy with this and all other meals we enjoyed during our visit. Solid five stars folks to the entire team at the Wentworth Inn in Newcastle, New Hampshire. The Opal group has other facilities closer to us, which we'll be checking out soon. Check this place on folks you will not be disappointed.

And when the poke bowl came out the tuna was so fresh and lightly seared, sesame encrusted and absolutely amazing. The rice was sticky and cooked perfectly and everything had some kind of green goddess wasabi sauce that was delicious. Everything was fresh and so flavorful. Then we had spa treatments and April really helped me with my CRPS by starting the massage on my neck face up and it's something I will be bringing into the future with other therapists. It was overall an incredible experience and we can't wait to recreate it play by play here soon!

Does have fridge and coffee for the morning. Water in room but very expensive....so bring a water bottle. Amenities: does have gym and pool, a nice snack area, and a bar on site. Valet and overnight parking is 30.00.

Asked for towels and for the trash to be picked up from our room still waiting. Bathroom is super tight...literally the door open towards the shower and is about an inch from the sink. Shower head sprays water everywhere so we had to put a towel over the shower head to avoid the bathroom getting soaked along with the shower door that keeps sliding open while you are showering. Toilet constantly cycling all day...requested to be looked at....still waiting. Fridge in room turned off & when opened water drained all over the floor! But the best was loosing power in HALF IF THE ROOM! Location is good but at is about it! Breakfast was $18 and it was powdered eggs. Parking is not included and the cost is $60 a day!!!! So happy to have found this cute like boutique hotel. I wish we had more time to stay in the area. The room was the prefect size for what we needed. Yes small but we were only there for two nights. The bed was so so so comfortable! However !! The edge of the bed is a little dangerous my husband and I kept hitting our shins on the corners. So be ware. And the heated tile in the bathroom came in clutch! Loved that we could just text the hotel and front desk for anything. We parked our car with them which they valeted for us. We could just text them when we needed the car. The little tea coffee station was great. But the coffee worked half the time for me. The capsules didn't get captured correctly in the nesspresso machine. Having tea as an option was prefect. And they had a variety of milks for your hot beverages. And they had oatmeal that you could have in the morning. And oj They also have a water dispenser which I used to refill the glass bottle provided in our room. I hope to stay here again. The room was quiet. And we loved that we didn't have a hassle checking in. We got in late Friday night and it was so convent to type the key code for the front main door and for our room. Drop the bags off. And then we went to the goat for some drinks.

For context, my last 40+ google reviews have all been 5 stars because I genuinely look for the good…read morein places. I travel 150 days a year and love boutique hotels. That is why I was so surprised and disappointed by my stay at Hotel Thaxter in Portsmouth. The room was shockingly small, smaller than many I have stayed in in NYC/ Manhattan. The bed was extremely hard and uncomfortable. The curtain was broken, so light poured in early in the morning. It was also very loud. We could clearly hear street noise, guests talking, and stomping from above. Housekeeping was especially concerning. When we returned, the bed looked as though it had been left halfway through being made, unfinished and careless. Towels were not refreshed, and the in-room water was not refilled. Small details matter. I asked about upgrading to a king suite (was in queen room) and was happy to pay, as larger rooms showed available online. I was told they could not move us even if the difference was paid because I did not book directly through their website and that next time I should book direct. Ironically, those larger rooms sat empty while we remained cramped. Most travelers discover boutique hotels through third-party platforms, so using that as a reason not to accommodate even a paid upgrade felt unreasonable and disappointing. I am giving 2 stars only because the location is excellent and the lobby is cute. Otherwise, this did not live up to the boutique standard at all. I loved my stay at Sailmaker's House last summer; they were booked this weekend hence why we were excited to try hotel Thaxter. I would strongly recommend staying there instead. I would avoid staying here.
