As a student on campus you'd hope for a more satisfying outlet to satisfy your takeout cravings. I would say the flying dumplings fulfills the niche of on campus takeout to a minimum. It's decent. Better than okay but not good. In this limbo you will find the flying dumpling. The orange chicken is what I've found the most enjoyable. Sweet and tangy, 7/10. The egg rolls are not very great too, which is usually look forward to as a pleasant treat with my meal. The fried rice is also bland and lacking flavor. General Tsos is a solid choice as well. Went after class one day and got a general tao's grab and go. Comes with the tao's chicken, steamed rice, and an egg roll. Cons: the egg roll was like leather. Idk what they did to it, i could not bite through it / chew it. The texture was unbelievably bad, like i had to gnaw and rip it apart to bite through it. The steamed rice was also hard, slightly undercooked. They don't allow any type of customization. I wanted to add broccoli and they said no. Pros: the food was piping hot, and still released a cloud of steam when I opened at home. The portions are also very good for the price. I think it cost somewhere around $11.44 after tax. I wanted to give them another chance, so I tried the sesame chicken plate a week later. I hoped they just had a bad day, but no thats just how the place is. It is so convenient for a college student since this place is right on campus. The menu has a ton to choose from and so far everything I've tried has been excellent! The same guy at the cashier always delivers quick and effective service. The food also comes out fast and steaming. There are no tables inside, just chairs for you to wait on. I usually get the grab-and-go plates because it has everything I want and it's very filling! I've also tried the baos which are always savory. The guy taking our order was nice and it took about 15 minutes for our food. We ordered the pork dumplings both steamed and pan-fried. They were decent but the pan-fried could use a little more time on the pan. The dumpling wrapper was also a little thicker than what I'm used to so it was on the chewier side. The meat was alright, had a good flavor but the texture felt a little off. The baos are a great size for the price, but the pork meatball in the ball was just a larger version of the pork meatball in the dumpling (it feels like). So the taste and texture was the same for us. Orange chicken was okay, sweeter than expected. And the Chicken Lo Mein was not as flavorful as it looks. The dumplings are ginormous, honestly just the six pieces were enough to fill me up. The flavor of the dumplings was juicy and on point, but a bit hard to eat because they were so large lol. The sticky rice shumai was also ginormous and it was pretty good, the flavor was mild and not too salty or anything so it wasn't too overwhelming. The inside of the restaurant is really small with only 2 tables. Everything is cooked to order so it takes at least 15 minutes; I called and placed my order in advance so I was able to avoid that.
