Been going here for years. It's a bit out of my way and I'm only picking flowers for the lovely Mrs so it's always worth it because she loves them. I have zero input on larger arrangements. I walk in, go to the cooler and pick out a nice set(or two?) of flowers and take them home to make my own arrangements. They usually have a pretty decent selection for Valentines Day. The folks working here are usually very nice even though depending on the day and time they can be hectic. I like supporting them because they are local but having fantastic prices is nice too. read more

The consultation was worth it but we felt like we were sold short of the experience. We were welcomed into a warm environment and the place is beautiful. We did provide an exact model of our vase but was expected to pick our centerpieces from a book. We weren't able to visually see our centerpieces until we asked if there were any flowers that could be used in the warehouse. The DIY is great idea and way to have a family/friend bonding moment. I always come to the flowerman for flowers. I will not be now. I bought my son's corsage for prom here yesterday and was so upset and the flowers and the wimpy arrangement. It lacked color and also the flowers were wilted. I told the lady and she just pulled off some of the leaves of the awful looking roses. If I hadnt been in a hurry I wouldnt have paid 32.24 for such an awful corsage. I literally had to buy glue from Michael's and glue some darker pink roses into the arrangement! It saddens me to, because I was going to use The Flowerman for my son's wedding. I guess with all that hassle and fear now of not having the prettiest flowers for a simple arrangement kinda makes me worried how my sons wedding flowers would look. Went for a wedding flower consult and our sales person was out sick, so we got someone else who was running late that day. She seemed very rushed and preoccupied. I am not very familiar with flowers, I've never ordered flowers in bulk, never been married, never even thought about bouquets until I got engaged. She did not offer much, if any, direction. I told her I wanted to keep the budget down as much as possible. Smaller bouquets for me and my bridesmaids, and we didn't need any other flowers. My future hubby and I spent most of the appointment looking through their flower index cards. When all was said and done, she had us double over our budget. I asked if there were flowers that were Really out of season, and how we could bring the cost down, but she said it was all in season. I absolutely loved my experience at the Flowerman. We always buy our flowers from them, so it was a no brainer to use them for our wedding. I did the DIY option for our centerpieces, boutonnieres, corsages, and bridesmaid bouquet. I had a designer bridal bouquet - I didn't want to make my own, I had a vision and knew I couldn't achieve it on my own. We also purchased box lots of flowers to decorate the reception venue. It's such a great value and the designers are amazing. We choose to have them deliver to keep it simple and the Flowerman himself delivered everything on our wedding day! Stopped in today to get some "just because" star gazer lilies for my wife, her favorite. Bunch of four for $12.99. As I'm checking out, Flowerman appears, takes a glance at my purchase, says to the cashier, "double it." He told me to go back and grab another bunch of four, no charge. I dare you to argue with that. I shook his hand and thanked him as he thanked me. I also had my flowers from my wedding done here some six years ago, but I doubt that's why I got the above treatment. Prices are reasonably priced and the store front is the actual warehouse were you can select directly what you want. Edit: I have now been told that the coach who helped us make our flowers is Beth. I also wanted to add that not only were the altar pieces wilty and not watered, but the bouquets themselves were not well taken care of either and looked droopy. I did not make it clear that the Flowerman didn't care for any of my flowers properly. That is UNACCEPTABLE. Also, my friend just talked to them on the phone about being nervous about having the same experience and she was told that my bouquet should not have even been made until the night before or morning of my wedding, not two nights before. Just more fuel to the fire. We used Flowerman for my wedding last week and honestly they caused us so much trouble from the beginning. It was very hard to contact them and get a timely response. I remember having to call them about the same thing, I believe to ensure I had booked them, and I kept being redirected and told there was no one there who could help me. I wasn't getting confirmation emails until after several requests. Then several weeks or maybe even months after I had scheduled my build your own flowers session, I was told that that time was no longer available and I had to choose a new time which normally wouldn't be a big deal but there were a lot of issues. Then when it came time to build my flowers (the Thursday before my Saturday wedding) there were a whole lot of other issues. They very clearly state not to bring more than a total of 6 people or they will have to kick some people out. The other groups that we're building their flowers at the same time had more than 6 people and no one made a fuss. But THEN, the Flowerman only scheduled one person to work with all three bridal parties and she gave most of her attention to them. There were many times me and my girls were standing there not knowing what to do while the lady bounced around the other two groups. And when she finally started to help us another group would call her over and she would leave us to help them even if we were still confused. My group was extremely frustrated because not only were we the first ones there but we also didn't have a lot to make for the wedding so we thought we would get done early but somehow we were the last ones there and well after we were supposed to be done partly because other groups were getting preferential treatment. One of the last things we had to create was my bouquet, you know the big important piece. I had made it very clear that I had wanted a cascading bouquet, and had even emailed pictures when Desiree (who I originally met with and scheduled through) requested them. When we got to my bouquet we discovered that we didn't have the right materials to make my bouquet cascading. I showed the girl helping us the picture and she acted like she had never seen it before and kind of shrugged it off and had us keep building with what we had. Fortunately my group was not having this and said they needed to make the situation right. She told us what kind of holder we needed (an oasis thing) and told us that it was just a miscommunication because Desiree did not understand what I wanted, even though I had definitely made it clear (I can place my specific emails to it). We were told they did not have the oasis thing in stock so my mom and friend went to three different stores in search for one and none had them in stock. When we were talking to them on the phone and my friend said they had nothing in stock the lady with us at the flower shop "magically" found one after sending my mom and friend on an almost hour long wild goose chase. I was FUMING at this point. But it isn't over yet! The day OF the wedding my aunt in law went to pick up the flowers and found out that our altar pieces had not been properly watered or taken care of and we're close to dead. There are only two reasons the store is getting a 2 star review and not a one star review: 1. they did refund us for the altar pieces and 2. The flowers ended up looking alright. I would absolutely NOT recommend this company. One of my bridesmaids is getting married in May and had booked Flowerman the same time I did and she watched this all unfold and is wishing she could unbook them and get a refund. Seriously, it is not worth the headache. You would be way better off to spend the extra money and get flowers done professionally and correctly. read more

We went after receiving the % off deal from a bridal expo. My fiancé and I sat down and discussed the flowers I wanted with the consultant. We chose May for a wedding date because I love peonies and they are rolling back into being in season at that time. I showed her bouquets of inspiration but roses were pushed. HEAVILY. From the consultant, it was a lot of "we can add roses for filler", "peonies add cost" and so on and so forth. This conversation occurred a few times. When I started asking about garden roses... "they're still more expensive...." they wanted to do spray roses for boutonnieres, roses for filler in my bouquet and more heavily in the bridesmaids, roses in the 25ft garland (which they don't make, it's ordered in...) and it's just not what I wanted. Roses are fine, but we chose May for the flowers. It was really confusing as they are a business... you would think they would want more money?! At the end of the hour-long consult, she came back with a price for how much each thing would be. But there was NO DETAIL on what exactly would be in my bouquet or any other arrangement to explain why it cost what it cost. How can a price be determined without a breakdown of what will be in the arrangement?? The price was another thing. The 50% discount was still high for work you have to do yourself and deliver yourself. In the 4 weeks that it took for them to finally email me a broken down proposal (which felt like "this is how much we want to charge you, here's what we can determine to cost that"), I had found another florist who has been in business for 30 years and who sat down and broke down pictures, flower by flower, to build me a broken-down quote at that initial consult, and who is actually giving me beautiful flowers that I WANT, delivering them, and setting them up for me for only $200 more than what the Flowerman wanted to charge for me to do it myself! Easy decision. Everyone goes to the flowerman by word of mouth it seems, but there are much better options out there to give you what you want, how you want it, and without having to do it yourself. I am very happy to pay slightly more for a real florist to make my dream flowers with no stress on me as opposed to a DIY flower warehouse. read more

Was ordering an arrangement from out-of-state for someone in the Centerville area. As my family and friends are spread out across the U.S., rely heavily on websites so that I know what I will be sending when I order (have had a few unfortunate experiences over the years w/ florists--sometimes you don't get what you pay for, esp if you're not very specific). Was disappointed to see that The Flowerman doesn't offer pics online of particular arrangements. I get it--it's easier for the florist to maintain a website *without* offering potential customers that service. Easier for them to say, "we sent a $150 arrangement to X", w/o the customer really knowing what was sent. No pics of arrangements online = customer having very limited choices or shelling out a fair amount of money on blind faith (I'm not in the latter camp!). Consequently, I can only order X number of stems of X flower in order to really know what the recipient will receive. Guessing from the website that 50-75% of The Flowerman's business is in wedding arrangements, which no one would order online anyway. Just wish they offered pics of specific non-wedding arrangements that people could order online or over the phone. If I lived in the Dayton area, I would probably visit this place; sounds like it's a good choice for DIY projects and a nice alternative to mangled bouquets in grocery stores. This is the way to go for flowers! I have been a bridesmaid and made bouquets etc on site and also had experience with their bulk ordering and pieces done by the florists there. All have been as stress free and enjoyable as possible. I haven't found a place that has a better price or quality. Their flowers seem to last several days longer than typical flowers. I heard good things about the Flowerman, so I contacted them about arrangements for my wedding. The initial phone consultation went well, but after that communication was poor. It took 1.5 to 2 weeks to receive a reply back every time I had a question or revisions to my proposal. Not exactly helpful when you're trying to plan a wedding. The kicker was when I arrived for an in person meeting and I had to wait for 35 minutes past my appointment time! The girl was rude and unapologetic. Definitely recommend The Flowerman! GREAT value, compared to having a florist do everything. We met with them in November 2015, you need to come to your consultation with pictures of inspiration and estimation on how many arrangements you want. Our consultant pulled up photos of the flowers she recommended based on what I was showing her, my color scheme, and price goal. She put together a proposal right there, and they had a promotion for 50% off flowers if we booked by Thanksgiving, so we paid in full that day. We also were able to rent items like columns for alter arrangements, glass vases, and river rocks. We got a breakdown of everything and the pricing, which was really nice. Sometimes they were hard to communicate with, but I think they were having issues with their email server. We had an appointment the Thursday before our wedding to make all our arrangements where I could bring 5 other people to help. They were very organized, we had a consultant to teach us how to make our arrangements and they had our space ready with all our flowers labeled. There was a mix-up in what we had rented, but luckily it was more than what we needed and not less and they easily adjusted. Some of the color of the flowers was different than what i was anticipating, and it was hard to pick just based off of google photos during our consultation, but they ended up turning out nicely and looked good all together and in photos. We got compliments on our flowers and it was really cool to say we did it ourselves and it was a fun experience. They stored our flowers in a cooler and someone picked them up the day of the wedding and delivered them. Only thing I was disappointed in, we definitely were told we needed WAY more gladiolas than needed for our centerpieces and we didn't even use half of them. They should've known that was too many, and I feel like we wasted a lot of money on ordering way too many. But I would use them again for sure, and we saved lots of money! read more

Absolutely terrible experience. If I could give this no stars I would. I went through 6 months of trying to get an updated contract, incorrect information given to me, phone tag/waiting for responses, charged the wrong amount, and grief over how my flowers would be delivered. Not to mention Desiree, the consultant, had a major attitude. After being booked for nearly a year and all the issues 1 month from my wedding day the owner called after his wife initiated trying to do something to make up for it all and told me they would like to give me my money back because they could not make me happy. Really?! It's so much to ask for a business to charge me the right amount, give me a correct contract, and proper customer service to me and my wedding planner? TERRIBLE. Not to mention I took their quote for my flowers to a few other florists who confirmed that the amount of flowers they ordered and what they charged was not in line with my vision. I ended up going with another florist who beat their price by $200 including them making my flowers, delivery, and set up. With the flower man I would've had to make my own flowers and deliver all the vases (still paying $500 for them to deliver the actual flowers) myself for their price. **UPDATE** I was immediately contacted by Melissa (after I wrote this review) who was very gracious about the situation. I immediately felt the need to edit this review as she really redeems my view of The Flowerman. She informed me that this is not the first she has heard of similar issues I had with the Dayton staff this past summer (2010). However, Melissa informed that the people who I had worked with this summer have since been let go of because of their unfriendly demeanor. Also, she is trying as hard as she can to get my money refunded to me. She was very apologetic and took immediate action by calling the owner of Flowerman and telling him that these issues need to be fixed. I am so glad she contacted me and was willing to own up to my terrible experience in Dayton even though she was at no fault...she has been wonderful throughout this process and I am disappointed that I had to have such a bad experience despite how kind she has been **** I did a combination for my wedding hoping that it would save me some money and be a good bonding experience for me and my bridesmaids. Melissa in Columbus was my consultant and she was incredibly nice during the consultation and the ordering of my flowers. However, when I got to the warehouse to make the bridesmaids bouquets and centerpieces, the staff was incredibly rude and unhelpful. A few of the rental vases were chipped and broken and so my bridesmaids and I asked if we should use the vases regardless. We were quickly brushed off and told to not be so picky about the vases that it was not a big deal. Not wanting to be rude, we continued to use the broken vases. Also, I had rented some pillars that I was told would be good for my wedding yet at the warehouse, Cady told me that I might be better off without...and decided not to deduct the price of the rental off of the total price of the flowers. However, this was a drop in a bucket compared to my after-wedding experience. I find out the day I returned from my honey moon that Flowerman had the audacity to charge me for the vases that had been broken prior to my wedding!!!!...Yes indeed, these are the same vases that I had asked about before the wedding that the Flowerman staff told me to use! I was flabbergasted at the $80 that I had to spend in vases that I had not even broken. I told them that they were broken prior to my wedding and I had mentioned them on the day that I went in to make flowers. The response was that it was explicitly stated in the contract that I was supposed to reject any defective equipment prior to the day of the wedding....except when I tried to, I was rudely brushed off. In any case, I think the whole establishment is awful and dishonest. If you do decide to buy flowers from Flowerman, make sure that you are careful and DO NOT rent anything unless it is in absolutely perfect condition!! read more

We recently used the Flowerman for our wedding and it was a great experience. We got a TON of compliments on our flowers and people could not believe we built them ourselves. Pros: 1. We worked with Desiree at our initial consultation and she was extremely friendly and helpful. She was able to grasp exactly the style we were going for and helped choose exactly the flowers that we wanted/needed. She was awesome! 2. Price: We shopped around to a few florists and Flowerman beat their prices by about $1000. Yes, we had to build the flowers, but it was a fun experience and we actually got more flowers than we could have ever afforded from a traditional florist. 3. Quality: We loved our flowers! From my wife and I's bouquets to the ceremony arrangements, everything was absolutely perfect. So many people complimented our bouquets and mine smelled like heaven, like a dream! I can't even describe it! Our photographer (who photographs a ton of weddings!) said it was the prettiest and best smelling bouquet he had ever seen! I didn't even want to set it down for the reception! 4. Customer Service: All of the staff that we worked with were extremely friendly and helpful, we loved our consultant that helped us build (although I can't remember her name! She was great!) and we also really liked working with Desiree. Con: The only con is that the day we were there they were packed! There were so many brides/parties that it took them a really long time to get to us to give us the steps. I think we could have gotten done in about half the time if there was just one more person helping the consultant that was working with us. She seemed to be working with too many parties to keep up, which left us with a ton of down time where we didn't have anything to do. The day before the wedding, I had a ton of other stuff I could have been doing so it was hard to continue to enjoy myself when things were moving so slow because I was thinking of all the other stuff I could have been doing. To be fair, we did make it out very close to the time they originally promised we would be done by (1:00 pm, we got done around 1:30) they say to plan on 4 hours, which they will definitely take all that time. So it's not so much that they took longer than they said they would, it is that there was just too much downtime in between steps, which got a little frustrating. Overall, I would definitely recommend using The Flowerman! We loved our experience and our flowers! read more
