We recently hired PDJ Shaw Flooring to install new flooring on the second floor of our home. I…read morecould not be more pleased with the service I received from them. We got quotes from a few businesses, and honestly, the pricing was comparable. All the quotes were within a couple hundred dollars of each other, with the biggest difference being the pricing of the product itself. What won our business for them was the sense of confidence they instilled in me that they were going to do the job properly. Without exception, the other businesses (I won't name names, but all the usual big players in town) spent about 5 minutes in our house. They took quick measurements & basically said "OK, choose your product and we can install it for you". When Greg from PDJ Shaw came, he took the time to explain the pros/cons of the different products to me. There was no pressure to upgrade to more expensive products, and by the time he left I felt prepared to make in informed decision about the best product to use. Because we have an older home (1940s), there are eccentricities in our house. Previous owners had done some strange DIY flooring, and there was the possibility that we would need to have our subflooring (at least partially) redone. Greg built those unknown elements into the quote, and advised me that when the installers came, they would assess the condition and only perform the extra work if it were necessary. None of the other businesses even looked at the flooring closely enough to see that there was potentially an issue there. Considering PDJ Shaw's quote included this extra work, the others were more expensive by comparison, and they could have hit me with unexpected additional costs once the work had begun and we were committed to seeing the job through. When I saw that the product we had selected offered a matching trim (quarter round), I asked about the cost of having that installed. I had planned on doing the trim myself, so that we could stain it to match existing doors etc in the house. Rather than simply agreeing to take my money, Greg advised me that he couldn't recommend the manufacturer's trim because its quality wasn't up to par with the actual flooring. He said that we wouldn't be happy with that product. He even made recommendations for inexpensive products that I could stain myself (shoe moulding rather than quarter round). Installation took one day, and the installer Tom was very professional and took great care to fix existing squeaks in the flooring before installing over top of it. The finished product looks amazing, and I would hire them again without hesitation. Best of all, upon completion of the work, we were refunded for the extra subflooring work that wasn't necessary.

CONTRACTOR BEWARE!!!! In Feb 2023, we hired Brandon to redo…read moreour floors in our new home. He had 24/7 access for 15 days and said it was no problem. We paid him half for a deposit and then nearing the end we gave him more money as he sent pictures of what looked decent. We didn't know that he had lied, scammed and never showed back up to complete. It was 1300 sq feet of pure disappointment. The edging was all rough, he splattered a can of stain and left it there, the entire living room floor would cause slivers in your feet. He damaged all the built ins and cupboards. There was no poly-eurathane in any room. He had advised us to remain off the floor for 3 days while it dried. He closed all the shutters so we couldn't see in until he had complete taking off with our money. We tried to use a local business close to our new home, he stated it was a 2nd generation. We hired him for the right reasons only to find out he is a low life scammer. FAST forward 1 year later, we went with the expense of suing him, we now have judgement and he has been served. It gives a little satisfaction, as I now can write this review. We are hoping that he pays us the money owing, but also, we hope that he doesn't continue to scam others and ends up going out of business. Please be careful as he has once again changed his name to All Star Sanding, Refinishing & Staircases. Feel free to reach out for additional pictures and also a name of a flooring company that was awesome and allowed us to move into our new home quickly. One star is one too many stars for this dirt bag.
