She is so happy to go to school in the morning runs in to say hello to everyone. They are always working on different projects and she learned so much! Her hand eye coordination is really advanced for her age and I'm sure it's due in large part to all the attention she gets at school. I also enjoy that they have a no screens policy. Of course at times there have been little issues like she had been bitten by a child and then another time she was the biter (while in the 12 month class). Both scenarios were handled very professionally. Whenever there is a concern about my child, they bring it up even though I'm sure it must be difficult at times. I definitely appreciate the input because they know what milestones etc. to look for. It's also great because she has really healthy attachments with her teachers and the staff. Many of them have been there the entire time she's been going there and you can tell they are excited to see her grow! Robert has been very professional and compassionate in all of my dealings with him. I highly recommend the Goddard school!

Choosing a childcare facility requires a massive leap of trust. However, the true character of this…read moredaycare's leadership was revealed when my child suffered a severe classroom dental trauma under their supervision. According to the daycare's report, another child threw a wooden block at my child's face, resulting in two broken teeth. The impact was so severe that his teeth were broken into pieces and embedded inside his swollen lip, leaving his dental nerves completely exposed. Despite the severity of this medical emergency, the facility waited 90 minutes before notifying me. I was kept completely unaware of the pain my child was in during this entire time, denying me the ability to comfort him or immediately seek emergency medical care. When management finally called, they attempted to minimize the situation, stating that "he is fine now." The lack of accountability only escalated. A week later, when I requested photographic updates to ensure my child was safely able to eat properly, the director became hostile and stated that it was "not their policy." There have been several other incidents from this administration that ultimately made it impossible for our family to continue at this daycare, including the administration's response that pointed heavily toward a personal vendetta or racial bias. One year later, we are still actively dealing with the long-term dental and emotional repercussions. At this point, due to the severity of the nerve damage, we have had to put our child through a painful tooth extraction, even though he still has many years left before his permanent teeth can come in. The dentist has also informed us that we have to wait and see whether there has been permanent damage to the adult teeth underneath. Accidents happen, but minimizing a severe injury and displaying hostility toward parental transparency is entirely unacceptable. Parents in the Greenwood area deserve a facility that partners with families during a crisis, rather than using intimidation to silence hurting parents. I hope that sharing our experience spares other families the regret and heartache that we have endured from this daycare.

When we walk in the door every morning, the positive energy is just exploding and the welcome from each and every employee is the best way to start our day. My son loves the teachers and thoroughly enjoys this facility. We toured several daycares when we were pregnant and found only two that we would even consider sending our child. I love that there are no screens for the kids, they have dedicated outdoor time everyday when the weather is nice, and there are cameras in the rooms for parents to peak in on their kids during the day. I never feel like we need the camera to make sure he's being treated correctly, but being able to see him playing and interacting with the other kids brings a lot of joy. The teachers send a daily report and there are nearly always photos. I'm so thankful we found such a wonderful place to provide childcare.

There doesn't seem to be a majorly competitive/pressure-filled vibe here at all. There are kids there who have never taken a class, and some you can tell who have been doing gymnastics since they started walking, but everyone is given the same amount of time and attention. When a child masters a new skill, they get to ring a bell and everyone there claps for them---it's really cute and a great way to build self esteem in these kiddos. Where do I even begin with Meridian Hills Cooperative? My family and I love this little school so…read moremuch. This is going to sound overly dramatic, but it aint no lie: Enrolling my child into this school has probably been one of the best decisions I've made since moving to Indiana. We just finished the 4s class, which was our first foray into any type of schooling. Meridian Hills Cooperative is play-based, which means that the kids learn through exploring, building, creating, moving their bodies, and just plain being kids. The teachers do not push the kids to do anything (as in, they aren't receiving formal lessons in the 4s class) -- instead, the teacher invites each child to participate, and lets them join in whenever they feel comfortable. Each child is valued for whatever stage they're at in life. Similarly, each type of personality -- from super shy guys to boisterous kids to everything in between -- is cherished and respected. A huge plus about the school is that they value playing outdoors. They will tell you straight up when you go for a tour: We play outside in all types of weather! The only time the kids won't play outside is if the weather is dangerous, such as during thunderstorms, or if the windchill is in the single digits. Otherwise, kids bring their snow clothes, rain boots and other outdoor gear because they know they'll be playing outside, rain or shine! Meridian Hills Cooperative is a co-op, which means that parents participate in the classes on a rotating basis. I love this aspect of the school because you really get to know your child's classmates, and in turn, the other parents really get to know YOUR child very well. It's very much like an extended family, with everyone invested in each other's well being. One of the most unique aspects of Meridian Hills is the Kindergarten class. This school is one of the only in the Indianapolis area that offers a part-time Kindergarten. (It meets Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.) On Thursdays, the class spends all day outdoors in the "forest Kindergarten" area, which is basically set up to be an outdoor classroom. So the kids get to learn while feeling the cool breeze, hearing the birds chirping and feeling the earth under their feet. It is such an amazing space, and an amazing way for kids to learn. I feel like I could go on and on about Meridian Hills, but it's just one of those things you have to check out yourself. I'm probably the most jaded and cynical person I know, but whenever I talk to people about this school, I get super mushy and emotional recounting all the ways I love this school and how much my child has grown and blossomed because of it. It's truly been a blessing in our lives.

After looking at multiple Montessori schools and not finding many other options, I was delighted to find MHCNS. As soon as I arrived, I knew I had found something special. The spacious outdoor playground is like no other I've seen in the area (and there are hiking trails, too!). Once inside, I was impressed by the "block room" full of wooden toys for building, the "art room" with easels set up and a table full of homemade play dough, and a third room where the children were enjoying board games and reading in little groups. And then I met the teachers. There are three, and they are all amazing. They have history with the school, an easy rapport with the children, and they believe in the power of play. I was also impressed that this school has a half-day kindergarten available. As a cooperative (and member of Indiana Council of Preschool Cooperatives), this preschool is run by parents. One of your child's caregivers will help out in the classroom once or twice a month and take on a "job" within the school. Your job could be anything from organizing the Fall Picnic to ordering the art supplies for your child's classroom or caring for the class pet. My daughter loves seeing me in her classroom, and it really gives me a better sense of what she is experiencing and what I can do to help her grow. MHCNS offers parent education nights and a two day training workshop. Since all of the parents are so involved with the school, you really get to know the other families and create lasting friendships. Overall, I feel that being part of this school has not only been beneficial to my daughter, it has also made me a better parent.

Tot Explore Time is the best!…read more I've been to Gibson Athletics Center a couple times now for their Tot Explore Time. You will have to check their Facebook page for the days they are offering it for that month because they do change. I would recommend signing up ahead of time on their website to secure a spot, filling out the waiver, and paying the $10. If not, you can do that at the door when you get there as long as they aren't at capacity. The times they have held it in the past is from 10:00am to 11:30am. When you pull into the parking lot, you may think you're at the wrong place. You're not. It looks industrial but just park and walk right in. There are parking spaces in front of the gym. They open up most of the gym for toddlers to preschoolers. Their Facebook says up to 6 years old. They play Disney music in one part of the gym, have a giant inflatable blow up with a slide, and tons of play things for every kid! I would definitely check it out if you have a little one who has a ton of energy and needs to burn it off!
