Adorable, English pug. It is so welcoming and charming inside. It is beautifully decorated. The menu has plenty of options suitable for anyone's pallet. They also have their own beer which is very inviting. Specials are available on a daily basis. The establishment is very clean and the bathrooms, accommodating and hard. The patio is very charming with a beautifully decorated heated area. The staff is very kind and welcoming. Highly recommend in this small town, a must visit!!! Delicious!

This pub is a FANTASTIC pub everything a pub should be. The Barley Mow has many, many regulars and that shows what a fantastic pub this is. The regulars are all very friendly and 'newcomers' are made to feel very welcome. It's dog friendly too and there's lots of regular dogs that enjoy the attention that they always get too. The ale served here is served how it should be. The barrels are looked after and kept at the right temperature in the cellar the pipes are kept clean and all of this makes for a delicious ale. One would think this sounds easy but so many pubs get this wrong the Barley Mow isn't one of them. They frequently rotate the ale and the guest ales are a plenty. Summer lightning and Twickenham ales are regulars I believe. They also sell 'proper' cider but as this isn't my thing, I can't comment on how good it is. John, the landlord, is a friendly, happy guy and clearly enjoys what he does and he does it exceptionally well. This pub continues to win Camra awards year after year and quite rightly so. The live music (Friday/Saturday) is great and everyone joins in. Haven't yet been on a Wednesday but I'm sure it's just as great. Weekend daytimes are great too. It's a perfect place for a pint and reading the newspapers. I have never been to this pub and not enjoyed myself. No beer 'garden' as such but there is an outdoor space with tables/benches that probably seat 50 or so people easily. There's also a car park out the back and plenty of parking out the front. It's a very eclectic place both inside and out (there's a dinosaur outside and loads of lovely odds and ends inside). I'm pretty sure that they offer free wi-fi now too but don't quote me on that. Have been going here for about 5 years now and have no intention of stopping. Will continue to support this fantastic 'local' for as long as I can. Thanks to John and the rest of the staff for running such a great pub. The website has been updated so more info on there http://www.themow.co.uk/ SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL PUB!

On my recent visit, it was so busy there was a queue - orderly but 8 people long - to get to the bar. We'd booked a table, so ordered our drinks with the food. The food and wine were perfectly OK, good pub grub, and we didn't have to wait long considering how busy it was (we were warned it might take half an hour but took half that). Service was a tale of two halves: an older waitress unceremoniously plonked down our glasses with the ice bucket and bottle. She didn't even open the bottle and pour the wine, let alone let us taste it, before walking off. The younger food waitress was, in contrast, a gem: she made knowledgeable recommendations on what to choose from the menu, and was absolutely charming throughout. So she got the tip at the end of it all. I'd go back as it such a great spot, but hope for slightly better service throughout next time, which would up it to four stars.

Not much of a demand for comedy writers/improv comics over there. I attended graduate school (MFA in Creative Writing) at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada and I experienced some anti-American sentiment there. Consequently, I expected the same in the UK. Never saw it. Quite to the contrary, I've never been treated so well. The British treated me better than my own family, which might not be saying much. One day while my British girlfriend (We've since split up) was at work I walked over the Old Manor Pub in Walton-on-Thames during the lunch hour. I expected either anti-American sentiment or at the very least, a cold shoulder. Again the locals and I had a great time drinking your superior British beer and exchanging anecdotes. I've never had so much fun with my clothes on! I would love to email the Old Manor Pub but can't find an email address anywhere. Does anyone know how I can email them? This is a pub you definitely want to spend time in. If only that British lady hadn't dumped me I would be spending my weekends there today instead of Hollywood. I love the UK. It's the closest I'll ever get to Heaven. Sincerely, Tom Neuhoff World Humour Hollywood, California
