Peter's is still around and booming for one thing. Second is they have barely increased their prices as compared to everyone else on that Gold Coast!!! We arrived and there was still a line out the door if the fish market at 4:00PM. They shut down the kitchen at 7:00PM. Remember this is a fish market. They had added many more picnic benches that kind of line the street and have a few at the end of the little street overlooking the water. So, you pick out your seafood, stand in line and when it's your turn you tell them how you want it cooked. We ordered a meal that consisted of 7 large fried shrimp(crumbled prawn cutlets)and order of fries and a large bottled soda. Total check was $24 AUDs....about $16US. Our number was quickly called and we retrieved our food. Sat outside and had a delightful late afternoon lunch/early dinner. The shrimp were perfectly cooked. And the fries were plentiful and nicely seasoned with salt. Both the shrimp and fries had a nice crisp. Remember this is a fish market. Service is great if you are ok standing in line for a boating to order. Staff is there willing to help Seafood is described as to type and labeled whether it is freshly caught or has been previously frozen. What more does one want. Highly recommend even though I shouldn't because the place is already always packed. Remember this is casual dining and it is simple! Enjoy!

Possibly my favourite place in the world! There is a great…read moreatmosphere in Fiddlers no matter what time of day or night it is. It's a rarity to find a pub or bar in the hustle and bustle of Surfers Paradise where the staff actually enjoy working there. It definitely makes a difference to the venue's vibe! The bar staff also enjoy a good chat and a bit of banter across the bar and this is one of the few Irish pubs in Surfers that actually employees Irish people! Not only adding to the atmosphere, but it means there are staff who can actually pour a good pint of Guinness! There is live music most nights of the week from 9pm, with a band on every Friday and Saturday night. True to their roots there is also traditional Irish entertainment there every Sunday afternoon. In terms of food it has a great range of pub style food at great prices. I've found the food to always be amazing, even the specials (usually $10-15) are spot on! You definitely can't go past the $10 steaks that they do for lunch and dinner! One of the main things that I LOVE about the food here is that they stick to what they're good at; good quality pub-style food at a reasonable price! This is a great pub that caters for everyone, from families, to older couples and young 20-somethings looking for a good night out, there is something for everyone in Fiddlers. This is a true testament to the hard work and dedication of the owners and management! See you there!

There is a mural across the front of the shop that is a tribute to New Zealand popular culture. Imported soft drinks, chocolate and ice cream are there and reasonably priced. The menu reads like a taste of Aotearoa as well. There is a disclaimer by the door indicating cooking times are a guide and may exceed what is initially suggested. The writing while not on the wall was very close to it. It took 28 minutes to produce 3 pieces of fish and portions of chips, with some fritters and a donut to round things out. We wondered if the food was in the vat for most of that because all but the chips were burnt. The outer oiliness and hard crust of the batter suggested the vat temperature was set too high. This was disappointing because everything before it looked so promising. We hope the two young ladies running the store were not the strongest part of the team there. It is the first time we've ever seen chips weighed before going into an order. To be fair there was a few very positive reviews on Google and their facebook site, so maybe we got them on a bad day.

If you are acknowledging there will be a wait be honest about it. Two groups who were served after me got their orders first. Waiting also sadly, allowed me to witness the owner (I believe it was, he was the main cook and eldest man), being quite blunt, rude and sharp with his staff on several occasions. Staff who I believe were his family? If you have an open kitchen be aware that your behaviour towards others is on show. When finally receiving our takeaway... the meals were pleasant. I had the grilled salmon and this was beautifully cooked and very flavourful. The burgers we ordered were good, especially for a fish & chip shop, which can be substandard as they don't cook burgers as a main item. The chips were a big average, a little soggy for my likely, but again tasted pleasant. My salad was good - I'd like to have been offered a vinaigrette or dressing for it but wasn't and a larger salad serve would have been good as it was quite small. All in all, I'm sorry to say we will not be visiting this store again.
