Great experience here! Dropped by unannounced to pick up some almond wood splits for my bbq pit. Place was empty when I arrived, but called the number and he said he was making a delivery and would be back in about 25 min. Arrived just as promised and the guys were super friendly. Ended up getting a 1/4 cord and they stacked it very neatly in the back of my Jeep. They were good about keeping the pieces within the size range I needed for my smoker. Reasonably priced, too. Did my first smoke with the wood today and was very happy with the quality! Good moisture content, burns hot, clean, and consistent. Made it a breeze to keep the temps in the pit exactly where I wanted them. Delivers great flavored smoke, too. When I burn through this batch, I'll be coming back for more. Highly recommend! read more

Jeff showed up with a pick up full of top notch firewood with 1 hour notice in a Saturday night!. Delivered right on time, helped us stack it up too. I'll be calling on his services again! read more

Jeff is your guy! Hands down the best in the valley. Honest and he makes sure everything is clean after he delivers. Don't look anywhere else! read more

We just found a great spot to get firewood for camping. Before we headed up to camp we researched places to grab firewood and this place came up with some of the best reviews. It was close enough to Rivernook camp that we could just stop in, get a bed full of wood and keep treking up another 20 min to our spot. It was Thanksgiving Day and Jeff was there and so awesome about helping us out with wood. We were pleasantly greeted by his pet TURKEY, yes turkey on turkey day. He was such a cutie. Don't pass them gem up, he is about the only place that I would recommend in that area. read more

High quality wood for good price, they deliver it to you if you buy big enough of a load.

Great value and awesome service. It was a little hard to get ahold of Jeff but that being said he was awesome when we did. He offered to drop off and stack our wood at our campsite. I've used him every time I go camping read more

Went camping and forgot firewood this guy is a live saver. Great wood great price. I would highly recommend.

Really happy with the wood delivered. Also very friendly and keeps you informed on when he'll be delivering. For the price I'm happy to get good quality almond. Will be buying again if needed. read more

Dependable. Always keeps you posted on arrival. His prices are reasonable. Honest sizing.

I've been dealing with Jeff for my annual firewood since 2016. He's been terrific, helpful, courteous, great to deal with, and reliable. I use between one to two cords of firewood during the winter months, depending on winter temps, for my wood stove which I use exclusively for winter heat. Usually around a cord and a half does the trick, but I'm exceptionally well insulated in my home too. Being permanently disabled can be a bit rough to handle it, but Jeff always takes great care of me. Almond wood is perfect for the job and I very much prefer Almond wood. If anyone needs a recommendation you can get it from me. More than happy too. John Campbell read more

This is the perfect place to stop and get some wood right before heading up to Kernville ! Got more than enough wood that I needed for 3 nights of camping . A wheel barrel full and I had left over . Great price too !!! I believe $20 range.Good wood too read more

If you are driving to or past Lake Isabella as you head to Sequoia National Forest for a car camping trip, then I highly recommend you wait to purchase your firewood from the Firewood guy in Bodfish, CA a short distance off the highway. We purchased $10 of firewood which equated to two bundles one that we burned through during the night and the second which we lit as a morning fire. The "Firewood Guy" needs to improve his branding a little on his roadside signage. Immediately in front of his woodyard he simply has a sign hand-painted that states "Firewood". His woodpiles are behind "The Mine Shaft" so stop there. read more

Camping in the Kernville-Lake Isabella area? Got wood on a cold morning? Well, the Firewood Guy has got you covered! First of all, almost every campground in this area prohibits bringing outside firewood into their camp because of insect pests and agricultural disease. Did you know that? Second, when you've got your Jeep packed to the roll bar with camping gear and food for the weekend, the last thing you want to throw in there is a bunch of heavy, dirty, bug-infested wood from your back yard. Third, have you checked out firewood prices at the grocery store for a few sticks of shrink-wrapped pine lately??? The easiest solution is to simply call The Firewood Guys. They have lots of good, well-seasoned hardwood, primarily almond, which makes for a nice, hot, long-lasting fire with a decent aroma. They will also throw in some pine logs as starters if you need that. In addition, they know all of the local campgrounds like the back of their hands and will deliver. It really couldn't be any easier. So save the space in your car for the important things, like your dog, or maybe your wife and give the Firewood Guy a ring when you get to your campsite. read more

Called and ordered firewood on a Wednesday and was told the firewood delivery would be for the next day, Thursday. Waited until 5:30 p.m. and no delivery. Called and received voice mail and I left a message. We drove to the business and no one there! No return call, no firewood. Nothing! Our wood-burning stove is our only source of heat for our home and we were down to our last couple of days wood supply. We aren't young anymore and can't tough it out without heat. It would have been a decent common courtesy for someone to return our phone call, not to mention good customer service. I guess this business works when they want to and to hell with customers orders. I am going to file a complaint with the proper authorities. Needless to say we are looking else where for firewood. I wouldn't recommend this business to anyone! read more

Our go-to wood guy from now when we are camping up in Kern. We camped at Rivernook over the 4th of July holiday and brought up wood with us to burn. Well, it was not quality wood and we burned through it very quickly. My husband checked Yelp to see where we could get wood that was cheaper than the campground or local market. We found "The Firewood Guy" who is local and could deliver. He had various options of wood to choose from. He quickly delivered our order to our campsite and helped us unpack it from his truck. He was super nice and prices were cheap in comparison to other options. It was high-quality, long-lasting wood that we ended up bringing some back to use on the next trip. read more

This is a very local review obviously but this guy knows what it takes to run a solid business. To often in a lake community it is hard to get services you can trust, businesses you can rely on, people you can count on. I ordered a cord of almond and he delivered it right on time- As a matter of fact, 5 minutes early- Just how I like it. He is friendly and his staff work their butts off! The Firewood Guy is trustworthy and honest- He will not rip you off like other people in this area. Whether you are a local or a weekend camper- Stop by his place to get your wood on. He'll treat you right! read more

NO longer will us poor campers, looking for a low-cost weekend in the wilderness, have to cough up $7-8 for a bundle of twigs! Jeff The Firewood Guy is one of the nicest guys you will meet. He threw in free kindling AND loaded up all the wood in our trunk. There are a bunch of options as far as firewood: -wheel barrow (soft wood) $20 -wheel barrow (hard wood) $25 -regular bundle (6.50) Of course, if you're looking to recreate Burning Man at your campsite you can get a cord at a pretty reasonable price. Basically, Jeff The Firewood guy is the guy to see when it comes to your firewood needs...no ifs ands or buts about it. read more

Fabulous wood and fabulous service. Don't waste your time with camp site wood or grocery store crap that burns up tooooo quickly.

The Firewood Guy - Just finished loading up my car with 3 bundles. Fast easy service. Jeff is da man. He also gives recommendations on how much wood you need. - Firewood Near Me - Bodfish, California

Fast delivery, however, the wood is so fresh it does not burn. We ruled out it is our fireplace as it has no problem burning wood delivered by someone else. We figured we would call and see if we can work something out but he won't even return our phone calls. read more

Fast and easy firewood pick up. Jeff was really helpful and even loaded firewood into my truck. Prices were extremely fair and I will definitely be coming back when ever I'm in need of wood out in the Kernville area. read more

Took a little more than an hour to get great firewood delivered to our campsite. Got a quarter cord for 3 nights and it was more than enough. Will buy again! read more

When I camp at the Kern, I stop in and buy Wood here. Jeff is a great guy. Be sure to call ahead of time. Otherwise they might be gone fishin when you get there. Much better than grocery store wood(It burns much faster). You can stop by and buy a wheel barrel full or 1/2 a cord and have him deliver it to the campsite. Sometimes I just don't want to waste time foraging for wood when I am on Vacation. If I am with a big group I don't want to restrict people from putting too much wood on the fire. We cook with the coals of the fire and never need Charcoal or Propane. read more

Jeff was fantastic to work with and really helped me get settled. Didn't plan to move to the area in the dead of winter, but that's what I ended up doing. Jeff to the rescue! I'm all toasty and warm now, thanks to Jeff & his almond wood. read more

We were told we couldn't buy firewood because "the boss is sick today"... a real head scratcher that I haven't heard before. Luckily there are a few places nearby where you can still buy firewood. It was unfortunate because I find joy in supporting smaller businesses. read more

After an extensive search for a reliable source of good firewood for our harsh mountain winters I found Jeff "The Firewood Guy. Striking a deal was quick and painless and his hard working crew did a professional, efficient and affordable job delivering and stacking two loads of beautiful seasoned almond wood all the way up here on the mountain. This was my first experience with Jeff "The Firewood Guy" but it won't be my last, I was very impressed with his fairness, professionalism, efficiency and fast delivery ( the next day!). Jeff impressed me as an very honest and fair business man. I highly recommend Jeff "The Firewood Guy" for all your firewood needs of any size. read more

Came up to Lake Isabella to do some early season camping and foolishly got firewood from the gas station the first night :( the next morning a quick yelp search had us heading to The Firewood Guy and we could not be more pleased! He showed my sons some white quartz and gold pieces that had been found in Pioneer Point area and the Kern River. There was tons of firewood off to the side of a small little shop that housed beautiful crystals, rocks, and antiques from mining times. We paid $15 for about 5 bundles worth, which we had gotten from the gas station and it had paled in quantity, of visibly beautiful wood- the gas station wood was dry and brittle and burned as quickly as cardboard. He also has beautiful turkeys on the property, make sure to say hi to Tommy the Turkey! read more

So, just hung up with Jeff, the owner. Our fire wood guy dropped the ball and we are in a pinch. On the spur of the moment, Jeff is hauling out a cord of wood to us at Dirt Diggers Camp, 395 hwy. It's a truck for him, but he agreed, with premium wood at a more than fair price! Looking for delivery in a few hours. I'll be stopping to see him this summer too when I go to Kern River!
