DO NOT RENT FROM THE FIELDHOUSE - HERE'S WHY
Nobody should live in a place like this. The Fieldhouse presents itself as a premium, family-friendly community, but our experience has been the opposite. If you're considering renting here, I strongly urge you to read this review and reconsider. What my two daughters and I encountered as tenants exposes a pattern of greed, neglect, and mismanagement that makes The Fieldhouse a prime example of how corporate-owned housing exploits middle-class families for profit. Here are the key issues we've faced:
Suspected Price Fixing - Please Report to Authorities
The Fieldhouse and its property management company, Vest Residential, are suspected of fixing prices, driving up rent costs year after year, and simultaneously cutting back on services and amenities. The business' unfair and anti-competitive practices aren't just frustrating but exploitative. Families are burdened with higher monthly costs while the corporate owners, who care only about profits, reap the rewards. They do all this while trapping you in an endless lease with non-stop fines and fees. I plan to contact the State to report them for price fixing with other local apartment complexes. If you are cost-conscious and want to avoid financial exploitation, do not move in here.
A Sales-Driven Mentality, Not a People-Centered Community
Management is hyper-focused on signing leases but completely neglects tenants after they move in. For example, community events have dried up, and amenities not part of sales tours are poorly maintained. They care about your money, not your well-being.
Unkind and Greedy Management
Since new management took over, the property has gone downhill. The current property manager, April Camp, is cold and unhelpful and worships lease agreements more than tenant satisfaction. She has created a hostile environment, unquestioningly enforcing corporate greed rather than supporting families.
Not Family-Friendly Despite the "Baseball Field" Setting
Though the business markets itself as family-oriented, the reality is the opposite. There is no outdoor space for children to play--no grass, no playground, nothing. The only option is the pool; kids are even fined for playing in hallways. This lack of space for socialization and play is not just inconvenient; it reflects a broader problem with declining community values in housing. Is it any wonder kids feel isolated and depressed in places like this? If you have a family, do not move in here.
Awful Conditions for Pets
If you're a pet owner, beware. There are no adequate spaces for dogs to run or relieve themselves. The tiny dog parks are unsafe and poorly maintained, often covered in dog waste. The parking lot and gardens become the default place to walk dogs, littering them with poop and pee too. If you have pets or do not like pets, do not move in here.
Mold and Humidity Issues
Living on the upper floors is a nightmare. These floors become unbearably hot and humid in the summer, often smelling like mold. Despite regular cleaning, the apartments explode with mold, ruining clothes, furniture, and personal belongings. Maintenance dismisses concerns with vague advice like "keep the AC on," but this does nothing to address the core issue.
I'm considering reporting them to the health authorities as well. Apartment 2523, for example, had a persistent musky smell that resembled urine or something dead in the laundry vent. Management ignored repeated maintenance requests, making us worry about our kids' lung health in such conditions. Maintenance generally hates their job and does not want to help anyone. To give them grace, they are overworked and understaffed. If you value your health, and especially if you have any respiratory issues, do not move in here.
Poor Security
Doors to buildings often break, making the entire complex insecure. The idea of "secure apartment living" is laughable here. It is trivial for a stranger to get to your front door, where there is only one lock that management can control remotely via the Internet... As someone who has gone through a home invasion in the past, this makes this a scary place to live. If you care about your safety, do not live here.
Internet Issues
The Internet never worked the entire time we lived here. Public Wi-Fi was our only option, which is unreliable and unsafe for handling private information. The shared workspace is a nice selling point, but it is so awful that no one ever uses it after they move in. If you work from home, do not live here.
Parking Wars
Parking is a constant source of frustration. There aren't enough spaces for tenants and zero parking for guests. Instead of addressing this issue somewhat, management has started charging extra for unique parking spaces--another example of their "solution" being to charge tenants more money.
