I've been going here for about 2-3 months and here's all the pros and cons of the gym. Let's start with the bad, they got rusted equipment which is really outdated and some machines like the leg extension have the seat pointed up putting your knees at a weird angle. Along with this there's no air conditioning which is absolutely ridiculous since it's in Texas. Like in the summer it's 90-105 degrees outside and all they have is fans, if you want heat stroke you better come here. Along with that in the winter time which is coming right now. It was 40 degrees today and all they had for heating is closing the doors. Now the good parts, the bench press has its own little lift off for you which is nice, the deadlift area has a bar that holds the bar your using so you can take weight off or put some on. They have a-lot of cardio machines which is cool. And that's all the good I see from this gym. I almost forgot to mention that the benches here suck, they are cheap and small. They (the short old guy manager) REFUSE to turn on the AC AT ALL. He also refused floor fans to, at minimum, circulate this 85 degree stale gym. During the winter, this place was absolutely freezing. They REFUSED heat. You are either freezing or miserable in a stuffy hot box. They have a sauna. What for? This gym is a miserable sauna. All week at work, and am in and out of this texas heat all day. Last thing I want to do is come to a gym that refuses to turn on the air conditioning nor will they get fans to circulate this Cesspool of bacteria, sweaty and stinky people. You are probably thinking, get your money back and go else where. I tried to get my money back the 1st week due to the miserable uncomfortable heat inside the gym. I paid for an entire year. It's always miserably hot in there and over half the machines are broken and they're being held together with spare plates and duct tape. They never have the AC on and 95% of the time the fans are off. The equipment is clearly not being taken care of as their leaving my hands in dirt, rust and grime even after initial wipe down before i start my workout. The staff is hit or miss. Sometimes they just make me pay and let me go workout and other times they have me write down all my information for whatever reason. Definitely not worth $15 for a day pass as the only time i ever go here is when i have to; on days my own gym is closed. read more

Please turn the AC on!!! It's like a sauna hot box that you're trying to train in. Not to mention the amount of added bacteria that grows in such a warm and wet room (yes wet because at 5am when I go, everyone is dripping sweat just from walking in). Other than the AC situation, it's a great gym with all the necessities. But walking into a heat wall to start a workout at 5am is rough. Unless this gets addressed and they decide to allow air conditioning, I'll be looking to go somewhere else for my workouts. read more

It's a gym, or a fieldhouse true to it's name. It's hot when it's hot it's cold when it's cold, but if you wanna lose weight it's a great start but it is almost thebare minimum. That's why Im leaving the review with two stars, yes it's a gym but I mean the dumbbells are fucked up, stuff like there was only ONE 60 lb dumbbell in the whole gym lol, only like 3 squat racks the rest are outside but it's too hot for all that right now, overall just low maintenance of the place. I understand it's supposed to have a high school fieldhouse gym feel but for the amount of money you pay there, you might as well go to Crunch. Same price, more people yes, but at least there's more variety in machines/racks/dumbbells. The icing on top was when I finally cancelled my membership here, they "forgot" to do it, I got charged for 5 months without my knowledge, neither them or the ABC financial group will issue a refund. In the end, if you need a place close to home to workout and the bare essentials with a protein shake after, this is your spot, but be careful cause it's a small gym and prone to issues like the ones mentioned above. read more

Not a fan of the new management. I only go there for the free weights and the heavy bag. In my year of membership the heavy bag was down for 4-5 months. When I asked the staff they said some member "knocked it down and it wasnt gonna get fixed until the members start respecting the equipment". So the management decides to punish responsible members because of the actions of irresponsible members. How about this: since you HAVE the outdoors area being filmed, why dont you fine or expel the people destroying equipment? Ta-dah! But no. Their response is petulant and unaccommodating. read more

Certainly the best gym in Temple... possibly the best ever? It has everything.. standard cardio equipment, weight machines, free weights.. and lots of stuff no other gym has... like an outdoor work out area with more weights, kettlebells, ropes, a boxing ring, a sand pit for running sprints... oh and did I mention there's a Smoothie D's inside in addition to the supplement shop? And somehow I've never had to wait for any equipment. Awesome! read more

I've been going to this gym for over a year now, and it has gotten worse during that time. Cons - In recent months, I've had to walk under a scissor lift to get in the front door because they were painting and wouldn't open another door, nor would did they ventilate the area which caused me to leave due to fumes; I've only seen the single water fountain working a few visits, with only the offer to purchase water when it's broken; a staff member was grinding metal in the bathroom without any signage or closure, which put harsh fumes in the air; I've had dumbbells fall apart because nobody tightened the bolt holding it in; I've found equipment broken without being tagged out-of-service and the staff just shrugged; and any complaints were met with attitude or indifference. Yesterday, the paper towels we are supposed to use to wipe down the equipment were out at every station except 1, and many of the members weren't bothering to walk across the gym to get it - meanwhile the staff member spent about an hour chatting with people instead of being behind the counter. The only reason I still have a membership, is because the cancellation fee is so expensive that I might as well wait until my contract is up. Definitely looking for another gym ASAP. read more

I used this gym while visiting family in Temple. I purchased a week pass for $25. This is a great spot for weight training. There is a ton of equipment. While it is not new, it seems to be well maintained. There is also a cardio area with TVs. read more

I've been to a lot of gyms not only here in central Texas but also throughout the states. The Field House is by far not the most high tech gym in the area, but it is the best one in this area. It is locally owned and operated, the staff is knowledgable, they know whoyou are by name and not just a number. The owner is involved in day to day aactivities and greets you just like you were a part of his staff, or family. It is alwats clean and you don't have to wait to use equipment. Its not social hour or a meat market like some of the other gyms in the area, but merely a place to workout, achieve goals and make new friends if that's your thing. The trainers there are very knowledgable in their craft and are very professional and ethical. There's nothing that this gym doesn't have. Their motto says it all, "Our gym, our way." read more

Stared off great plenty of equipment and the owner was always around updating the gym. But recently it has started to go down hill, equipment not working properly or being relocated to the new location. Also the ac is very outdated so its very hot, so if you work out doors or in a hot job u will cramp up hear.when I asked the front desk employs about getting more fan's I was met with a rude unprofesional sarcastic response. Also most of the equipment is covered in everyones sweat, I think people get tired of cleaning it up. The place has a lot of potential if the employs had some professional supervision. I want to first start off to say that this is one of the most unprofessional gyms that I have ever been to. I am a avid CrossFitter and love being able to get a good workout in so gyms being closed during the holiday weekend I wanted to get a couple workouts in so seeing that The Field house gym was open and had everything a Crossfit athlete would need to get in a good workout i decided to try it out and paid the 10 dollar fee of using the gym for they day. First off all I had to do is pay the 10 dollars to workout there for the day and that's it, no waiver, no signing of name or email address, absolutely nothing. Next the whole place was just filthy, dirty floors dirty walls, bathrooms were disgusting ect. Now I have been to my fair share of gyms off all different kinds and know there are ratty gyms and there are gyms like LA fitness, but there is a difference between ratty and just not taken care of, and this place is just not taken care of whatsoever. Now despite the gym being dirty it had everything I needed to get in some good training, great bumper plates (rogue) and bars no complaints there. Now i went back there on memorial day hoping to get some more work in paying the 10 dollars once again. This time it was a different story. I got some work and then started on the bulk of my workout which included some back squats and some power cleans. Now anyone that has ever done Crossfit before knows that since you are using bumper plates it is okay to drop the weights from shoulder height or below, most people knowing that dropping it from over head isn't allowed which i knew and I didn't do. So i started my work and every few reps dropping the weight from the front rack position, which is totally acceptable with bumper plates, about halfway through my workout some juice head looking about as dirty as the gym was comes out and tells me to not drop the weights, which surprised me because i was doing the exact thing that i was doing the other day and no one had said anything, and even as the illegal as it is the area was called a crossfit area and what i was doing was totally fine. So i start trying to drop the weight from lesser height and not making so much noise, the next thing i know the same guy, who later i find out is the owner comes out and tells me to get out of his gym, totally being a jerk and treating a brand new customer like I was nothing. I wasn't trying to offend him i wasn't trying damage his equipment I was just using it in the way that it is suppose to be used in, and with out hesitation i get kicked out of the gym. I was nothing but understanding to this man and he was nothing but rude to me and even threatened to call the cops to have me removed. I will never be going back to this gym and would tell anyone interested in going to this gym to look another place. read more

The gym itself was ok. Nothing special. My husband and I signed up for a year last March. We were told after the year is up they keep charging the account until we renew it or cancel the membership, which is totally fine. My husband went in the second week of March and told the guy at the front that he wanted to cancel the membership. The guy said that was fine and said after this month it would be cancel. My husband gave the guy cash for the month. There was no receipt involved. Three months later we get a call from collections saying we didn't pay the cancelation fee and we owe $247. we never got a letter from the gym saying we owed a balance or a phone call. Address and numbers haven't changed. We were complete blind sided. Either the guy at the front is keeping a little money for himself or they are very dishonest. That's not how you conduct business. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. read more
