It's an escape from everyday life and adds a touch of whimsy the stuff dreams are made of. Ok I may have gone on a bit but I simply adore it. I must've had a past life in one of those grandiose French / Italian villas, as I am so drawn to this type of decor. My husband can never understand why I buy these items and put them around the house to gather dust. I then just point out to him that he has his vices and I have mine..so there. Villa Provence is located on Portrush Rd Toorak Gardens right next door to the Trak Cinema. I can't believe they don't have a website or a Facebook page as I'm sure they'd have enough followers to take over Adelaide. Yes it is on the pricey side so pick and choose your pieces carefully if on a budget and if not well you're just plain lucky. There are so many items they can't fit in the shop so it spills over into the walkway inside on the way to the cinema, such as wrought iron chairs and benches, decorative wooden birdcages, book and nic nak display shelving and so much more. And as a note: a little further down the centre corridor at the end on the right is Villa Hamptons! A different feel much like being at the seaside along the Mediterranean, very noyce! You simply have to go there darlings, ta ta.

As far as this sort of stock goes, this shop is great. The merchandise ain't flimsy or weak or fragile. Most of it feels made to last, which is good. The stock's mostly interesting (though it's your usual brand of odd, needless birdcages and stone faces and wrought-iron chairs and whatnot). It's expensive. But I'll concede that the quality of good seems to justify the expense. I think I'll be returning here in a few years. Unless I want my bedroom to match the decor of the store.

One Rundle Trading Company is a shopping experience. With gifts, furniture, books, pictures,…read moremirrors and a whole lot more on sale, there's always plenty to choose from. I often like to just browse through there to see what they have on offer. If you wander through to the back of store - and trust me its not a small space to wander through - you'll find a range of beautiful fashion pieces as well. All in all One Rundle Trading is an eclectic mix of beautiful things. I love the way the shop is set out with a Ladies Room and a Gents Room at the front of the store - and by that I don't mean toilets but rather rooms for of things specifically for men and women. There's also a children's room and a garden or outdoor room as well. They offer a Bridal Registry and an Interior Decorating service and best of all a free - yes free - picture hanging service. The space itself is massive and once served as a 1920's Melba Picture Theatre. Located in Stuart Road at Dulwich, I recommend wandering through on a Sunday afternoon to take in the sights. When you're in there, don't forget to look at the beautiful old ceilings - they're as gorgeous as many of the trinkets and pieces you will just fall in love with.

I stepped through the front archway into a glittering, vast space full of chandeliers and hallways leading into more beautiful rooms. I avoided eye contact and didn't want to touch anything for fear they would tell me I'm too poor to shop here. The rear section is clothing, and the books and pictures around the area with words like DIOR and CHANEL hinted at the fact I couldn't grab a bargain for twenty bucks. But a pair of shorts for five hundred? Sure, pocket change for you brokers and people with old money. What beautiful homewares they have, gorgeous lamps and paintings and sculptures, the only consistency being no two things are alike and yes, you pretty much could close your eyes and point and find a gorgeous antique chest or a marble sculpture of a blackbird and want to take it home so bad you nearly weep. I will never look at Ikea the same again. This store is glorious and completely unattainable for the likes of me.

The inside of the store is cluttered with the faces of movie starts and black pseudo Edwardian and nouveau 1920s furniture. The courtyard at the back of the shop is a surprising oasis of simplicity and fresh space. Above the courtyard sits an intriguing artists' space which the public is welcome to visit. The owner and designer, Markus, is a spectacle with a bleach blond mow-hawk, and he pulls off the rock star look very convincingly. This is a fantastic place to revel in decor and artwork, and there is an enormous range of gorgeous collectibles. The lay-out of the store is done with artistry in mind, and it has a theatricality about it that is delightful to see.

They stock the most elegant (and yet at the same time quirky) home decorating pieces you're likely to set eyes on in Adelaide. What I like about Louis Bond is they're not like every other decorating store you're likely to visit. This suggests to me they go that extra mile when it comes to sourcing their product. Louis Bond is also the home of artwork for one of the store's owners Markus Hamence. Markus' work is createded to compliment the season's furniture in store but he will also create one off pieces for individual customers. With a focus on canvas art these pieces are real statement pieces that belong in strong interiors, bold enough to want to make a statement. Don't forget when you visit Louis Bond, you can pop next door to My Friend Louis and grab a coffee. Actually the main entrance to Louis Bond is via the coffee shop so you can't miss it.

Having been a big fan of Waste Not Want Not on Goodwood Rd, Goodwood for many years I was disappointed to hear that high rents in Unley had forced their re-location recently to Old Reynella. Looking around for a local alternative I ventured to Magill. Ecolateral has a good variety and I agree the owner/manager is nice however the prices are generally prohibitive and I decided that a trip down south would still be cheaper despite the fuel cost. If you are desperate you can probably find what you are looking for if you are prepared to search a bit. You will find eco lines in most health food stores and at the Adelaide Central Market. Better still make a short detour on your next trip to the south coast and visit Waste Not Want Not!

A small shop but chock a block as its black and white colour scheme with neutral tones and spots of colour here and there, is a lovely combination. Black exterior, big picture windows, white interior and the name MAPLE in white against the black in simple font, is a classy effect plus the items they stock are just as dramatic. Once you look past the candles, jewellery and all the filler stuff every other shop in Adelaide carries, it's certainly different to what you'll find anywhere else and you can be sure of that. If this was the only shop available for lease when the owner was looking, she has chosen well....I think any larger and it would have taken the charm away. The owner has sourced items from everywhere including overseas, I remember once seeing these cute little, rustic fabric looking birdhouses, which came from New York made by a textile artist by the name of Tamar Mogendorff, and I noticed there still some of her creations in the shop like the little owls. Unfortunately I have to add they're mega expensive, hence I didn't buy one. The hessian sack textile crafts from India, Dinosaur Designs resin bowls, clothing, wall art, glassware, home decor, vases, nautical items and driftwood themes and tones, really too much to mention. It's a shop where the feel comes through of the owners' desire to source and stock items they love, otherwise what's the point of doing something you don't love day in day out! Do yourself a favour, it's summer, the Adelaide Hills are a short drive from the city and....go to there.

It's a 'things' place, if you need a new thing for your bookshelf or your mantlepiece or your walls or your dresser, this is where you would find that thing. the latest is this weird feather piece, looks like the feathers are stuck to a plate, it's really expensive and similar to what they have on the walls at Parisi's. Again, if you don't have a fair bit of cash or aren't willing to spend it, then don't even bother going in. luckily if you do go in and the prices are enough to put you into shock, the pub is 2 seconds walk away.

I love that the decorations and theming of the store change regularly, with Christmas being the best time of year to visit - but Valentines day is always another highlight! The shop does have a very middle-aged housewife kind of feel to it, and the clientele reinforces this - but in all fairness, homewares aren't exactly the definition of cool. However, they do have a large collection of items that I would actually consider purchasing for my home, such as picture frames and glasswares. The only thing that would have me thinking twice is the cost, as Two Pairs isn't exaclty shopping on the cheap. There are a lot of things that catch the eye in this store, but unfortunately nothing that warrants the pricetag attached (in my opinion). As a poor, just-graduated uni student there's not too much need for these kinds of things. I mean, what am I going to do with a $40 wooden alphabetical letter? But I'm sure as the cash comes in (hopefully) my desire to have quaint yet pointless items in my house will only get stronger, and when that time comes I'll know to go to Two Pairs.
