If you're in the market for an oversized statue of a pink flamingo, trust me you would have more chance of the Jack Horner people sourcing one for you than anyone else. I simply don't know where they get their amazing pieces from and that's why they're such a fave with film and TV industry professionals who are in search of that perfect piece when they're decorating a set. If you need a piece of wall art, a light fitting, a sofa, a chest of drawers, a bed, a Buddha, a mannequin or a whatever ... go see them. If you're looking for a Venetian Mirror, they specialise in reproductions that achieve the right look without the big price tag. I had a piece of furniture restored by them years ago and they did such a brilliant job that I haven't had to do a thing to it since. It still sits proudly near my dining table and all I ever do is change the decorative piece sitting on top. There is something incredibly quirky about the design talents of the Jack Horner people. I know nothing about interior decorating. As I waltz around Jack Horner, the logician in me as saying, 'You wouldn't furnish your entire house with this stock at this store. You'd come here for particular items.' But then the Mario in me decided the logician was wrong and stupid and tacky. I have made a personal pledge to myself. If I should get a house in Adelaide (having failed all my endeavours overseas), I will stock my ENTIRE house with things that can be found at Jack Horner. Including (nay, especially) the zebra patterned items. This place is so queer and quirky it is a joy to inhabit. Knowing full-well I could afford nothing, and would have nowhere to put it if I could, I still had a grand time browsing. It was a delight to see what item in the store would surprise me next.

It's an escape from everyday life and adds a touch of whimsy the stuff dreams are made of. Ok I may have gone on a bit but I simply adore it. I must've had a past life in one of those grandiose French / Italian villas, as I am so drawn to this type of decor. My husband can never understand why I buy these items and put them around the house to gather dust. I then just point out to him that he has his vices and I have mine..so there. Villa Provence is located on Portrush Rd Toorak Gardens right next door to the Trak Cinema. I can't believe they don't have a website or a Facebook page as I'm sure they'd have enough followers to take over Adelaide. Yes it is on the pricey side so pick and choose your pieces carefully if on a budget and if not well you're just plain lucky. There are so many items they can't fit in the shop so it spills over into the walkway inside on the way to the cinema, such as wrought iron chairs and benches, decorative wooden birdcages, book and nic nak display shelving and so much more. And as a note: a little further down the centre corridor at the end on the right is Villa Hamptons! A different feel much like being at the seaside along the Mediterranean, very noyce! As far as this sort of stock goes, this shop is great. The merchandise ain't flimsy or weak or fragile. Most of it feels made to last, which is good. The stock's mostly interesting (though it's your usual brand of odd, needless birdcages and stone faces and wrought-iron chairs and whatnot). It's expensive. But I'll concede that the quality of good seems to justify the expense. I think I'll be returning here in a few years. Unless I want my bedroom to match the decor of the store.

Now located a few shops down the Regent Arcade from their Renew Adelaide pop-up, the store has settled in and the Arcade's vibe suits it well. Stocking the hand poured Zuki & Boo soy candles in some truly delectable scents, this is my primary reason for swinging by. I'm a real lover of a 'natural' smelling candle (as opposed to the saccharine qualities many other scented candles give off) and this stock is top notch. Available is different glass jar sizes and also available poured in a tea cup (with the saucer to match), they make great presents for yourself or others. My current fave is Bergamot & Banksia but the Coffee Bean is just right to get your day started (I work night shift so burning candles after waking is perfectly acceptable at 6pm!). Check the candle 'menu' for some potential favourites and the staff can let you know when they become available (or pour some for you). The store also has a beautiful array of posies and floral arrangements with the ladies happy to create a floral arrangement to your colour palette or floral taste for an excellent price, however I can never go past the gorgeous bouquets often sitting in the store front (and often so cheap!). Succulents at various stages of growth and in an array of pots plus terrariums can be picked up and once again, all very reasonably priced. Other assorted soft furnishings are available, cushions and throws, as well as some stationery and assorted homewares. A great place to find a gift for yourself. I'm a fan.

It's like a florist for the young and funky where you can grab terrerium pieces planted into clever little pots, glasses, teapots and large jars. Being a fiend for cacti and succulents I went absolutely bananas over the place and was stoked the owner shared my enthusiasm for her awesome little shop! There was so much I wanted to buy but budget limitations meant I just left with a large jar with some little leafy babies inside for the bargain price of $45 (so little considering it has five little varieties included). VERY well priced and lovely woman I want to come back and grab a teapot with some scented candles next time I'm in town for sure so please leave me one haha... so make sure to check it out!

I often like to just browse through there to see what they have on offer. If you wander through to the back of store - and trust me its not a small space to wander through - you'll find a range of beautiful fashion pieces as well. All in all One Rundle Trading is an eclectic mix of beautiful things. I love the way the shop is set out with a Ladies Room and a Gents Room at the front of the store - and by that I don't mean toilets but rather rooms for of things specifically for men and women. There's also a children's room and a garden or outdoor room as well. They offer a Bridal Registry and an Interior Decorating service and best of all a free - yes free - picture hanging service. The space itself is massive and once served as a 1920's Melba Picture Theatre. Located in Stuart Road at Dulwich, I recommend wandering through on a Sunday afternoon to take in the sights. When you're in there, don't forget to look at the beautiful old ceilings - they're as gorgeous as many of the trinkets and pieces you will just fall in love with.

I avoided eye contact and didn't want to touch anything for fear they would tell me I'm too poor to shop here. The rear section is clothing, and the books and pictures around the area with words like DIOR and CHANEL hinted at the fact I couldn't grab a bargain for twenty bucks. But a pair of shorts for five hundred? Sure, pocket change for you brokers and people with old money. What beautiful homewares they have, gorgeous lamps and paintings and sculptures, the only consistency being no two things are alike and yes, you pretty much could close your eyes and point and find a gorgeous antique chest or a marble sculpture of a blackbird and want to take it home so bad you nearly weep. I will never look at Ikea the same again. This store is glorious and completely unattainable for the likes of me.

I would be more than willing to set up shop (pardon the pun) in the shop front window of Bauhaus…read more Every few weeks when I walk past I can either imagine myself sitting atop their giant Moroccan pouffes in a kaftan, reading a vintage hard cover book or lounging about in their bright red acapulco chairs in a pair of their silver clogs admiring my giant Marimekko print on the wall. This gift shop and homewares store is high class, full of cultural finds that look like they've just been pulled out of a souk in a turkish market or from a church in eastern Europe. There is something for everyone from all budgets here too so don't let looks deceive you. You can pick up $20 scarves, $10 rings or even a beautiful photo frame for $25 or so. At the other end of the spectrum you can pay up to $140 for a small wire frame cube which I'm sure is handmade by pixies in the titus mountains or something. Staff are not intrusive and allow you to browse the shelves, cabinets, floor and walls full of knick knacks, prints and more. And when you go to pay make sure you ask about their free gift wrapping service to make your loved one feel like you've spent even more dosh on them!

Loved the necklaces and jewellery and how small things were in here. Cute, Exotic, Pretty, Affordable and Fun... the few words that describe the gift ideas in this place. I asked the shop assistant where their products were made, and they said most of it was made overseas, but their front counter was filled with Adelaide-made objects. I didn't give this 5 stars because one, there was very little walking room and you had to compete with other keen customers for space....and secondly, as a young guy, there weren't that many things that excited me or interested me. If I had a girlfriend, then yeah I'd definitely go here for ideas.

I call them "scary mums" and they're standard around these parts: think flouro lipstick, a hundred different coloured streaks in their hair, acrylic nails and four wheel drives. Not that there's anything wrong with that - maybe you *are* a scary mum yourself. Cool. Definitely head into Outdoors on Parade. Your kind will be waiting. As well as the namesake outdoor furniture, the shop is full of gifts and home wares - and if you peer in-between the crowd of scary mums you will spot something rad. Something like an iPhone attachment that looks like a rotary phone, or ceramic mugs made to look like paper cups, or an interesting pastel Japanese teapot. It's not really my bag in terms of atmosphere, and the prices reflect the clientele ($45 for one mug), but it could be worth a look.

It was also HUGELY busy when I was there mid afternoon full of Christmas shopping women, so I would perhaps avoid that time if you don't want to be crushed by women reaching to grab an $56.00 ornamental bowl. Although there is a plethora of homeware shops dotting all the way along The Parade, this is definitely one of the less franchisey, and more personal.

The whole place was filled with nude colours, black and white, and others which aren't very bright - except for this one table which was filled with beautiful blue items which in contrast to the rest of the store just stood out something chronic. It was nice. It's not a bad store to look for things, but unless you're in the area there are a lot of other shops which sell the same sort of things. I would more make the effort to come here for the furniture side of the store, rather than for the home wares and decorations.

The inside of the store is a bit too crammed for my liking because you really have to focus to browse through all their items. They do, however, have a very nice selection of decent, modern and cute objects. A lot comes in colours like beige, white and black and is therefore fit to be placed in pretty much any home. Prices are moderate to high but staff are lovely and willing to help you out with anything you need.

I simply adore these types of stores and therefore Eclat is no exception. For a reasonable price they have some gorgeous items which could be placed around the home or given to someone as a lovely gift. There are plenty of different types of things to choose from, some which will look great in the kids bedroom or some which will look great in the garden. There are some lovely candles which make the store smell divine, which is always an important factor to me when it comes to these stores. This store is on two different "levels" (in other words there are a couple steps in the middle of the store to get to the counter), so be careful of your step. It's easy to get distracted by all the items for sale and to miss your step! Even though I was in Eclat for a little while browsing, the lady at the counter never asked me if I was looking for anything in particular. This necessarily is not a bad thing in my mind because I like browsing to myself and if I need help, I'll ask for it. Though there may be some who think this irritating and rude. I didn't get that vibe.

It is heavily French influenced - pronounced ek-la, Eclat means "the brilliance of the sun", "the radiance of a smile", "the sparkle of diamonds". The building is reminiscent of Parisian architecture, and the things they sell are so impeccably stylish you would have no trouble believing they were French. Inside, you will find a range of eclectic furniture, gifts, cushions, throws, crockery, tableware, rugs, mirrors, lighting, and a range of interesting wall art. It's a really cute place, even if you're not into that sort of stuff, you might find it handy when it comes to buying gifts!
