I knew of the kettlebell "getup" from workouts at the Y and had heard kettlebells were a distinct workout. I signed up for a workshop with Rapid Results Durham NC. Betsy Collie is amazing. I have been working with her for over a year. Her knowledge and enthusiasm communicated through out her workouts is the best I have experienced. Her company, Rapid Results is aptly named. Kettlebell workouts and stretching she incorporates has quickly increased my strength, balance and flexibility. She is fun loving, compassionate, and always teaching, teaching, teaching. She explains everything, she knows tons about not just technique but how and where it affects and strengthens. I like that I can work out at her place or via Zoom, she pays attention and helps all. I feel like a "there" participant. She customizes workouts weekly so we may be doing classic moves but are always learning something new which keeps the class interesting. You can work at your own speed and weight, no pressure except she will push you if she thinks you are lame ducking it, I believe is positive. She does the workouts with us so we can always see her technique. She walks it like she talks it. I highly recommend her and kettlebells!

Betsy has an extensive knowledge in strength training, and if I find any movement difficult or painful, she has an uncanny ability to pinpoint the problem and address it before it causes an injury. I did see other reviews, many people are offended by them, but I think he's a very nice person once u get to know him. I originally bought my membership for hot yoga, but stayed really for the Sparta/circuit classes because I do not have the equipments at home and I'm more motivated when working out as a group vs solo at the gym. It is the hottest yoga room I been to. Do wish them could turn the heat down a bit. In terms of yoga classes, they offer diff types of classes, which I'm glad they did. Ex topaz focuses more foundation while black opal is more yoga like. I like that because sometimes I just want to do easy stretches. I am on the student memberships, which is about 90$ per month and I think it's worth it you work out at least 2-3 times a week. If you are not unsure about this place and doesn't want to spend that much money for a membership, you can always buy the $30/month as a new member to try it out.

My goal was the lose 6% body fat in 6 weeks and I ended up losing 7% body fat and 10 pounds in 5 weeks. I had many misconceptions about CrossFit that initially turned me off to signing up (i.e. its just for meatheads, you do complex movements with no instruction, there isn't any science/thought behind the workout plans), but my experience with the program, the people who were members, and the instructors couldn't be further from my initial thoughts. An extreme amount of thought and care went into designing the program. The meal plan, workouts, coaching and social support were expertly woven together to make for a seamless experience. It addressed every pitfall one might encounter when starting a new fitness program (sticking to a meal plan, meal prepping, losing motivation, stress) and made it as easy as possible to succeed. The members there were great. They were encouraging and friendly. Almost everyone I worked out with came up and introduced themselves to me, and were very helpful if I needed advice on a movement or was struggling with a workout. The coaches were experts. A special shout out to Amy Depolo and Jason Carley who I trained with most frequently during my challenge. Both were extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and motivating. Both great as coaches and people you would want to grab a beer with after class. Overall I give the program an A+ and would encourage anyone who is looking to transform there body and commit to the program to join South Durham Crossfit.

You are able to focus on your goals and gain motivation from the rest of the members without feeling like you are alone. But all of this is nothing if the gym, members, and coaches are not approachable and welcoming. That was the first thing I noticed about the gym and haven't looked back. With a focus on not only training hard but also doing things together outside of the gym it offers a community and support that is missing from some of the other boxes. Highly recommended to anyone looking to start their journey or to finally accomplish what you've been meaning to for years.
