At…read morefirst it may look like another hair dresser inside a Victorian house (there are several in Lowville) but I think this place is really something special. The owner has done a really nice job trying to make this place sophisticated and special. The first time I went here in 2009 after it first opened, she told me she was renovating the place one area at a time as she can afford it. The first time I visited there was a waiting lounge, mani/pedi room, a tanning room, salon area, massage room and facial room. When I visited this summer there is a new space for the tanning bed and a separate room for the check in/payment counter. There's also a chiropractor working in the front room where the tanning bed used to be. I know its just going to get better as the years go by. One of my favorite parts about this spa is that my family's hair-dresser-Lori now works here. My family (including my dad) have been going to her for at least 15 years now, back when she worked at another salon in town. If you haven't looked by now--look to the left--I live in Manchester, CT. My parents live at Chase Lake 3-4 months out of the year so I schedule my hair appointments around visiting during the warmer months. Getting our hair done here is just more affordable than anything back home. And its nice to work with regular people, not the "hair snobs" I've dealt with at home before. I also just really like the waiting room. There's something about that long fluffy brown carpet...its not the most beautiful thing in the world but its really soft and comfortable, lol. Its a comfy and inviting room.

Typically, I come for a wax and always feel welcomed and comfortable throughout the process. During a recent visit, I decided to ask about facials (I've never had one before). Laurie (the owner) explained several to me that would be beneficial for my skin concerns. I booked an appointment for the four layer mask facial and nervously went to my appointment. After she brought me down to the room where the procedure was to be performed, she explained the series of events to be expected. Throughout her explanation she asked if I had any questions. She was very welcoming and comforting and provided a fantastic explanation for what was to be expected. After undressing and getting comfortable on the table she came in and began my facial. It was an AMAZING experience and I highly recommend it to everyone! The aromas of the product and the room were relaxing; the subtle music in the background helped me to unwind. I felt as though I was being transported to another place. Her expertise with facials made each phase feel like second nature for her hands. I am beyond words by how impressed I am from this experience. As I mentioned, this was my first facial every and so I don't have anything to compare it to, but I will definitely be setting the bar high for my future facials. I walked out of my appointment feeling extremely relaxed and my face feels softer than a baby's bottom. Honestly, I'm not sure when my face has ever felt this great! I will be back for more!

Harmony does an amazing job of meeting your needs and making you feel welcome and rested no matter what service you're there for. Their services are plenty. They have everything from massages to manicures to body scrubs and sauna sessions. This spa does lean more towards a feminine atmosphere than a unisex one, but they serve both men and women. My husband goes for massages with me occasionally, and never regrets the decision. We both enjoy the experience.

Infused water, tea, yogurt, granola, and fruit were available and included. The room walked out to an outdoor area with a hot tub. Two chairs had warming blankets the other was a table with chairs to enjoy your drinks or food. The ladies locker room was nice. Every item you could imagine from essential oils, lotions, hair products, tooth brushes etc and lavender infused cold towels. There was a sauna with a sitting area and the showers were clean and beautiful. My treatment was a wrap and it came with a mimosa. The wrap was wonderful! The scrub was a great way to exfoliate. There was a shower in the room to rinse off the scrub and then the lotion made my skin so soft. The employees are very an accommodating and professional. The only drawback was the prices were pretty high compared to what I have spent in the past. I would also suggest some additional ambiance in the outdoor area. I do recommend this spa it is beautiful and very pampering.

And Donna gave me one of the best massages of my life. If that was the bare bones massage, I definitely want to try all the fancy ones. Donna used incredible aromatherapy and gentle, firm pressure. I was very close to falling asleep during my treatment, which is crazy rare for me. And afterwards, she was waiting for me with a smile and a bottle of water. The shower in the dressing room was lovely and well equipped. I loved the sauna and the lavender-infused cooling towels! Seriously, I want to move in. Just go. Can I go two days in a row?

I left the area and recently moved back. Pros: Love the decor and that Dr. Megan is there working as a chiropractor. It's convenient. I had an appointment with Tammy for 60 minutes. While good, she literally talked the entire time which killed the vibe. Not only that, she went into deep existential remarks of where my pain comes from. When she asked what I did for a living and I told her, she then assumed that I didn't know how to separate my client's feelings from my own and this is where my chronic pain was emanating from. I've been doing my job for 24 years! Trust me, I don't take on client's stuff and could teach her how to not do the same while learning how to read a room. I digress. I then scheduled a 90- and 60- min deep tissue for my partner and I with Tasha. We scheduled nearly a month in advance to ensure our work and childcare times aligned and to guarantee a spot since Tammy is usually the one that works on Fridays. The first appointment, appointments were at 9a and 1045a on a Friday before Christmas. She cancelled with less than 24- hours notice saying bc we were getting bad weather prediction on Friday afternoon, she was cancelling all of her appointments. No offer to reimburse us $35 per appointment for cancelling less than 24-hours like they would charge us if we had done the same. The weather did not occur until that Friday beginning at 3p. She tried to rebook us for Tuesday of the next week. I have clients too. I respect them enough not to cancel with such short notice. We booked for the very next Friday. Thursday, 29 Dec, Tasha cancelled again stating she had the flu after JUST going to the urgent care. We've had enough and requested refund of our $215 back. Melissa sent me a message saying these things were unavoidable, but when I look out at the next 2 months, Tasha doesn't typically work on Fridays. I would imagine this probably had a lot to do with the cancellations. Although we are getting a refund (supposedly), bc Tasha cancelled last minute, I just lost out on $900 for two workdays of pay (earn $125/hr for 5 hours we scheduled off for both appointments minus the tax of 30% on that). It doesn't seem that Tasha or Melissa cared about the second and third order effects of their behavior, but their policies hold people to a standard they can't meet themselves.
