Perfect place to stay if you are a visiting scholar to the Flatiron Institute, which is just six blocks away. Inside appearance was neat and classical. Room services are responsive and considerate. Consider booking a high-storey room for a better window view. Special thanks to Amal, Angel, Arielle, and all the other staff that provided me an excellent experience!

Dust and hair under the outside edges of the dresser and bed

A knob popped off of a drawer and rolled under the dresser. On inspecting the area beneath the mini refrigerator, I discovered an object resembling a microphone. It was connected to an audio jack. Upon contacting the front desk, the representative visited the room and informed me that the device in question was not a microphone but a table sensor. However, he said he couldn't answer why its cable was attached to an audio jack, as he had only been told of the sensor during training. Regardless, I asked him to remove the device and to have the floors cleaned. There was a decent layer or dust and hair underneath the dresser and bed. The desk contacted me the following morning while I was asleep to ask if I would like the floor cleaned now. Since I had asked on check in but now it was the next day and I didn't really want to leave bed, especially I was to check out in approximately 16 hours I told them to cancel the cleaning. I was told the bar was a good place to have cocktails and I visit at any time before midnight. Admittedly I arrived at 11:55 after running from Broadway, as this was the last night I was in New York and wanted to try them. Unfortunately, the bar said they were closed for cocktails a few minutes early. Overall, the hotel's services did not justify the weekday rate of $1,255 for two weekday nights.

My friend and I had a lovely stay at The Evelyn for one night. The lobby is really beautiful with a cafe to the right and a bar straight ahead and plenty of lounging space in the lobby to chat or work. The room was quite spacious for a New York boutique hotel! We got a double room and it was perfect for the two of us. The room and its bathroom were very clean! Would definitely keep this hotel in mind for my next visit to New York.

I picked this hotel for my little girls birthday trip so we could have a suite/separate bedroom area. My first three photos are our actual room. The last two photos are what I booked. We had no dresser to put any clothes as shown in the photo. The radio in the part with the sofa was also not there, something my little girl was looking forward to. The rooms were very clean and the staff was great. I don't think I would stay here again because I paid over 1k for two nights and had a view of equipment and cigarette butts. The hose for the bathroom shower leaked as well. One tiny glass shelf in bathroom to put a few small things. The lack of storage made it super cramped. The mini bar was so full there was no room for me to put a cold drink or any food. There's no microwave or a fridge with storage, mini bar only. Parking was $70 a day.

We had a nice stay here. The interior and exterior are gorgeous. Staff were so friendly. Our booking came with a bottle of wine perk- it was delivered with a hand written note- a sweet, personal touch that isn't the norm these days. Hubs was happy to find Other Half beer at the bar. The included grab and go breakfast was good, too. My only quibble was the bed pillow- too flimsy and loosely filled. It's in a nice location- with lots of dining and drinking establishments nearby, plus Madison Square park and Flatiron 5 min away. The Museum of Sex next door is a blast, as well.

This is a great hotel in a great spot. Styled in Art Deco, I liked it as soon as I walked in. I love Art Deco. It's classy. It's timeless. It never goes out of style. The rooms are a bit cozy, but I've been in smaller NYC hotels, so I found them perfectly adequate. I'm just happy if I can walk around the bed. I used to stay at the Arlo a few streets away, but couldn't get out of bed without hitting my back or head on the TV hanging on the wall. -It felt like sleeping in a Winnebago. It was time for a new spot. The Evelyn was a little more expensive, but worth it just to gain a little space and avoid injuries. The linens were nice, the bed comfortable, and the pillows perfectly adequate. I had no problems sleeping, and I can be pretty particular about hotel beds. It took me far too long to figure out the shower, which is less than ideal when you're sans clothing, but otherwise I thought the bathroom was nice. Small, but I liked the esthetics. Although the restaurant, Leonelli, permanently closed, their bar is still open. I searched the internet all over and could not find even a trace of a bar menu. Not even on the hotel's website. I wouldn't have even known the bar's name, had I not looked at my bank statement. That's not great advertising, people. We ordered two small cocktails and the bill was $47 with a tip. It is NYC and it was a hotel bar, but it still seemed overpriced given the entire experience. The bar isn't exactly a destination. It's convenient though. My sister was pretty buzzed before we got there and our drinks finished her off, so it was nice to only be an elevator away from our room. They have a pop up bakery on the first floor, but Dominique Ansel is about 100 ft away from the hotel, so I'm not sure why anyone would eat a pastry at the Evelyn. Maybe they serve good pastries? But c'mon. I just said Dominique Ansel is next door. There was a "Sex Kit" in the room's minibar. It came with condoms, lube, and even a vibrator. I was crashing with my sister. No need for a sex kit, but had I had a companion, it would have saved a trip to CVS or the Sex Museum next door.

We picked this hotel due to the style (boutique), location and online recommendations. It also didn't hurt that it was one of the options for our vacation package from Expedia. We enjoyed the Tusk Bar, the breakfast options, the art decco decor, the room amenities, and the location. Like many NYC hotels, however (especially renovated ones), the rooms were a little small. I would have traded out the mini bar for a dresser. My wife also said it took a long time to get hot water although I had no problem, and I reminded her she likes to wake up extra early, probably before other guests started showering. Our room faced the street, and we experienced construction noise. I would probably request a room in the rear next time. Another minor nitpick is that several times I asked the front desk for change (so I could tip housecleaning) but on multiple occasions, they did not have change. We walked around a lot and had no problems taking the subway. Would consider staying here again.

Can't reach the closet bar!!!

Traveling during the holidays can be hectic, but the staff at the Park Hyatt made everything feel effortless. Every interaction -- from the front desk to housekeeping to the concierge -- was filled with genuine kindness, patience, and warmth. It was clear they weren't just doing their jobs; they truly cared about making our holiday special. The hotel itself is stunningly elegant yet incredibly comfortable. After long walks through Central Park, returning to our room felt like stepping into a peaceful retreat. The spaciousness, thoughtful details, and quiet luxury made it easy for our family to relax, laugh, and simply be together -- which is what the holidays are really about. We had our first breakfast in New York at the hotel's "the living room" which is located in the lobby. The restaurant is absolutely beautiful with modern decor and stunning 30 foot ceilings. We arrived at 7am as the restaurant just opened and Kamil greeted us with a warm genuine smile. We've stayed at 5 different Park Hyatts in the past 5 years (Kyoto being the most recent) and no one has made us feel as special as Kamil. He has the unique gift of hospitality. He went out of his way to treat us like family and made us feel very special. All of his small gestures, friendly smiles, and thoughtful attention to detail, turned simple moments into special memories. During a season meant for connection and joy, the Park Hyatt delivered both in abundance. Spending Christmas in New York is always special, but spending it at the Park Hyatt New York elevated the experience beyond anything we could have imagined. Our days were spent with full hearts, lasting memories, and deep gratitude for a team that understands true hospitality. This is a place we will return to -- not just for the luxury, but for the people who made us feel so genuinely at home during the most meaningful time of year.

Unfortunately, due to geopolitical instability impacting our return route through Amman and the broader Persian Gulf region, our travel plans became unworkable. I contacted multiple hotels involved in our itinerary, and every one of them demonstrated professionalism and understanding by waiving cancellation fees given the circumstances--including other Marriott properties and the Ritz-Carlton. This property, however, took a completely different approach. I spoke with Samir in the reservations department. He refused to provide any refund. We went back and forth multiple times, and each time he introduced a new justification. At one point, he claimed the U.S. State Department had not advised against travel to the Persian Gulf and that any warning had expired on March 31. I provided evidence that there was no expiration date, yet he continued to deny the request. I also explained that other Marriott properties and Ritz-Carlton locations had already issued full refunds under the same circumstances. Despite this, he continued to refuse any accommodation. Only after I told him I would be leaving a review about my experience did he offer a future credit. That is not a practical solution when I have no certainty of returning to Morocco. I then requested that a manager follow up with me. No one ever did. Communication stopped entirely. This response reflects a lack of flexibility, accountability, and basic customer consideration--especially when compared to how other properties under the Marriott International brand handled the exact same situation. As a result, I had to absorb the financial loss and cancel the reservation. Based on this experience, I recommend considering alternative accommodations that demonstrate greater responsiveness and professionalism when dealing with legitimate, unforeseen global disruptions.

Bonus-it was clean!! The iPad system to control the room is clever: manage the thermostat, tv, blinds/shades and lights. It takes a minute for the iPad to connect (not sure if it's a wifi issue or that these iPads are an older model). Speaking of the thermostat, it kinda worked. I think it shuts off or scales back when there's no movement in the room. I had a hard time getting it cooled down to a good temperature, so I didn't sleep as well as I would have liked. The bed is very comfortable, though...and even with the small space, there are plenty of places to hang clothes and store items. Several outlets and USB charging stations available as well. There aren't any washcloths - just hand/body towels... and it's up to you if you want to have your room lightly cleaned or fully turned over. (See your iPad to make that option). There was only one elevator working, so it could take a few minutes to get your lift up or down. The staff that we engaged with were great. Check in and out were super easy. The lobby is pretty cool and hip. There's a small rooftop bar/lounge and a nice sized food/canteen area in the lobby. The location is outstanding. 50th just off 8th Ave...right in the heart of Times Square and walking distance to many other destinations. I would stay here in the future...2-3 nights is perfect. This spot is super centrally located, and during NYFW was an affordable, clean, and hip spot to stay for a few days. I am familiar with CitizenM as I have been to their hotel bars in their Miami locations, but had never stayed at one. I truly enjoyed my experience here. From check in to ordering wine or coffee at the bar, to the room, it was all lovely. I will say, the room is quite small. But truly, what do you need a big room for when you're going to be exploring NYC all day? The bed we got was a king, and dare I say it was one of the most comfortable hotel beds I've ever slept in. The room is set up a bit like a studio, with two little closets which made it easy to organize and unpack, a small desk, and a vanity in the common area. The toilet and shower are together in what kind of looks like a spaceship capsule in the middle of the room. One cool thing is how high tech this hotel is - you have an ipad that controls everything in the room from the room temp, your blinds, to the TV, to connecting your devices to the TV to stream music, etc. In the lobby bar you can opt in for hotel breakfast buffet, but instead we would just grab coffees as we were getting ready. Grace at the bar was super friendly, as was all of the staff. My one area for improvement is the elevator. We received a notice that one of the three elevators was broken during our stay and every time we would get on the elevator it would take us multiple floors up before going down. Not the worst thing in the world, but just annoying if you're in a rush to get somewhere. If you are looking for an affordable, centrally located hotel to stay with a friendly staff this hotel is your spot. You have multiple subway stations within a 1-2 minute walk which can easily get you to any neighborhood you want to go during your stay. Would definitely return!

Prime location! Modern, spacious rooms (for the city)!…read more The elevators though.... Oy. I stayed at this hotel over the New Years holiday and was thrilled to be so close to Madison Square Garden and Times Square. As was expected, check in was a bit chaotic given the time of year. The ground floor entrance was PACKED with luggage on first arrival. After weaving our way through, we located the check-in desk on the 5th or 6th floor. Tons of people but adequate seating to wait for our room to be ready. An upper floor meant having to figure out their dreaded elevator system. It left something to be desired, to say the least. With only 3 elevators that service the whole of the hotel, and a 4th that goes who knows where, it was almost always a lengthy struggle to catch one. No buttons on the interior of the carriage, all elevators were called with a touchscreen device that seemingly tried to pack as many people as possible into one small space, leaving many behind that couldn't fit, before directing the passengers to another elevator to repeat the whole process over again. One day was so bad, it was actually preferable to walk up the stairs to the 14th floor. Woof. The room itself was wonderful. Spacious, with 2 beds. Very clean. Beautiful view of the city and the arena next door. Great way to catch the sun set. Walk in shower with both an overhead and handheld shower attachment. Great lighting. Shower had heavily frosted glass that faced the bedroom area so be prepared for your silhouette to be on full display for anyone you may be rooming with. Nice sized closet, safe, and mini fridge. Big flat screen television. Window shade worked very well to block out the light if you're hoping to sleep in late. Walls can be a bit thin, especially if you have a rowdy bunch of kids right next door as we did. Aside from the elevators, the perks far outweighed the usual peskier elements (e.g., noise, etc.) one encounters when staying away from home.
