I researched resale and consignment shops before planning a trip to Asheville and this one came up on Google. It's located near a plaza with multiple grocery stores like Whole Foods and Trader Joe's. The shop has a small parking lot which had plenty of spots when I went around 4 PM. It offers a mix of new and consigned items. The clothes sort of felt like a mix of bohemian and contemporary styles, with all of them in good to excellent condition. The gal at the front was friendly and offered to help if we had questions. I mainly came to wander around - I wasn't looking for anything in particular. The shop is laid out with shoes and a majority of pants and jeans in the side room, tops and dresses on various smaller racks in the front. Very helpful and friendly staff. My husband and I stopped in because I saw a coat in the window. To my surprise, it was brand new with tags and it was around 90% off! They were also running a sale on dresses and had a full round rack with $5 and $10 items. Full of amazing local artist creations. I will definitely be back in person and online! "Heart" this place! This is 5 star+++ sort of Vintage, Retro & On Trend fashion shop! What a lovely find - so very much like the adorable vintage, 2nd hand clothing & so much more shops that used to proliferate in NYC (such as The Antique Boutique, Screaming Mimi's, Reminiscence, Canal Jeans Co., etc.). It was a great blast from the past for me the moment I walked into "The Enchanted Forrest", the well curated and visually engaging shop on Merrimon Avenue. Danielle, the owner, puts her years of fashion retail and consignment business experiences to effective use as she does a GREAT job of merchandizing the charming store and its extensive collection of gently used vintage and on-trend clothes, shoes, bags & jewelry (including one of a kind gift ware/creations/designs from local artists) with most everything for sale offered at very reasonable price points. I enjoyed shopping there and conversing with the very affable Danielle that I made it to the store twice in the one week that I was in Asheville and ended up snagging a gorgeous pair of well cared for Lucchese boots at a fantastic price. Shopping "The Enchanted Forrest" is now a "must do" whenever I get a chance to visit Asheville and highly recommend anyone making the trip or already living there to do the same! Good selection of vintage clothing, of all types, from outerwear to lingerie, formal wear to casual. I did a lot of window shopping and enjoying the variety because the clothes were quite expensive. An outfit from there would easily be in the triple digits with a minimum of clothes to show for it. read more

I had a really bad experience at this store when visiting Asheville months ago on vacation. The clerk did not greet us when walking in (but did so for all others), overtly watched my friend while shopping which made her really uncomfortable (we are certain that this was due to race) and then talked on the phone at length while we were waiting to check out. I wrote a Google review that stated this experience, and warned others of the cheap ass jewelry that left green rings around my fingers. I tried to return them but was not given a chance to do so. Almost 6 months later, the owner replies to my Google review with a "spiritually" passive aggressive remark saying that my review was "false." I have no idea why this person is being so hostile towards me, all I did was regretably spend money at her business. So, not only does she not give a shit about customer service, she also is a pathetic racist who tries to make herself look better by negating my entire experience here as a Black person. I urge you not to spend your money here, this person is one of the worst I have ever come across. read more

This store is fabulous! I have consigned and bought clothing and jewelry here for years. I am an international airline pilot that travels to Europe weekly. Consignment shopping is my free time hobby. This shop is my FAVORITE by far. I have found beautiful ,unique , up to date fashionable pieces at great prices here. Also, never been disappointed consigning with the owner. My items sale quickly at the price I expect to earn. When I have out of town guests they always ask to go to the Enchanted Forrest. My friends come to visit from around the globe. I love this store! It's well sorted through and affordably priced. My mom and I went and we both found a few things each (despite our extremely different styles). I found a pair of silk Armani high waisted trousers for $10, along with a black sheer silk bolero for $16 and brown leather Victorian-style laceup boots for $22. There was also this slightly oversized Saks fur coat that I kept eyeing but didn't end up buying. Anyway, I love this place and will definitely be going back the next time I visit my parents in Asheville. read more

I will never do business here again. I took in a brand new top and skirt, never been worn, each had original price tags on them of over $100 each and the owner sold the top for $10 of which I made only $4!! I asked 3 weeks after taking the items if I could have them back if they hadn't sold before she discounted the price she put on them and she assured me they'd sell soon. No matter how many items I've taken here I only seem to make $20 and my sister has had the same experience. I was utterly disappointed with wasting good clothing here and should have taken them somewhere else. I never give bad reviews of places, but this is just not a good place to take clothing. read more

I love the unusual or funky, and this shop definately supplies that. Champagne taste on a beer budget does very well here. I sell things, but never take the money, because you get a further discount if you use the money in store. Love it!!! read more

I had a wonderful experience at Enchanted Forest. I found the most beautiful antique glass and silver earrings for under $25 and boots and a great cardigan. Upon entering the store my daughter and I were greeted with "We are having a sale in back and I'll have to hold your bags at the register" By bags she meant our Vera Bradley Handbags we were carrying. Now it took me a sec to realize she was serious whereby I promptly told her that would not be necessary & my daughter and I walked right out. What a way to greet a potential customer! I am hurt and furious at the same time with being treated like a criminal in what looked to me like a dark dank hole in the wall resale store. The clerk said "I didn't mean anything by it" as we left immediately. What would you think if someone wanted to "hold" your handbag while you shopped? I am a retired Buncombe County school teacher and both my daughter & I were dressed very nicely and our handbags were nearly new so what is up with this treatment? Beware if you go to this place. I have lived in the Asheville, NC area for the last few years. My daughter and I having both been in the entertainment industry ended up owning a lot of unique clothing items that we longer were wearing. I needed to empty out our closets, since we were downsizing from a home to a small downtown apt, and "Enchanted Forrest," ended up being the perfect solution. Goodwill just takes your items, and I knew our one of a kind artsy clothing, and designer costumes, probably would not be appreciated by most customers." Enchanted Forrest," really understood the beauty and uniqueness of each item. I knew I would not make much money for these items, but it still made me happy to see that some of the items did in fact sell, and it gave me great pleasure, to know that at least some lucky person would derive the same pleasure we had wearing them. Recently my mom passed away, and again I felt so fortunate to bring in some of my mothers elegant outfits that I could not wear and sell them at the store. Fortunately ,the outfits were bought, and this did bring some closure as to where my moms outfits would be. I highly recommend visiting this unique, one a kind consignment store. The owner, Dani is an absolutely lovely person, and in addition is a very talented costume designer. You never know what cool items you will find in her store.
