Got a room last minute for the following night. Checked in very quickly and check out was a breeze too. Staff are friendly and helpful. My room was on the 4th floor and came with a fridge. I loved the tall ceiling, it feels almost like a house. There is ample parking. It's really nice as there's a lot of parking spots in the outdoor lot so you don't need to check in to the hotel first before being able to access the parking lot like quite a few neighboring hotels. There is also an underground parking lot if a more secure spot is desired. The room itself was nice. The carpetting made it feel older than other modern hotels but it was clean. The bed was very comfortable and the pillows were great as well. Shampoo/conditioner all-in-one was available but not body wash. Small bar soaps are also available. Despite feeling a bit old, the room was comfortable. Sound proofing is mediocre, other guests and birds outside can be heard quite easily. Bring ear plugs to sleep well. The hotel has complimentary breakfast served at 7am. I had to leave as it was opening but there seemed to be quite a selection of items at a quick glance. read more

This hotel doesn't stand out compared to all the other surrounding hotels in the area, but it was worth the stay regardless. For my trip to Victoria BC, my family of four booked a room here with two double beds. The booking comes with free breakfast and $10 daily parking to use for their parking lot and garage. Both check-in and check-out was fast and prompt, and the hotel itself is a drivable and even walkable distance to many notable places like Fisherman's Wharf, Pendray Tea House, the Legislative Assembly of British Columbia, and downtown Victoria itself. As an added bonus, the Tour de Victoria also takes place near the streets leading to this hotel if you catch it at the right time. Parking is limited even at the hotel since spaces are pretty tight especially down in the garage area where some spaces are dangerously close to poles. This area ended up being the most convenient for us to use given how rainy one of the days was. When there's food, I also gotta review it though it isn't as big of a factor here compared to everything else. Breakfast here is buffet style, where you can grab anything from eggs and bacon, cereal, pastries, self-made waffles and drinks. They served two kinds of breakfast potatoes and those ended up being my favorites because of how full you can get off of them and to pace my hunger for certain situations like late waking-up times. Their dining hall is located near the lobby, and it also houses a small recreational room with a small shelf full of board and card games, and some sofas to relax at along with guest-only restrooms to utilize. As for the hotel rooms, they're relatively spacious and clean, while the bathrooms are brightly lit but a little cramped without much sink counter space for a lot of our stuff. We asked the front desk for some extra blankets, and they came up after a little bit with them, about 15 minutes. There is an AC unit in our room, though it took a really long time - even at its coldest setting - to make our place appropriately chilly for a good night's sleep. Compared to the other hotels in the surrounding area, this doesn't stand out in any way, but the service and quality more than make up for it, and we had an easier time navigating around the city knowing we could come here afterwards and rest. This hotel was reasonably priced compared to hotels in the area. We booked a room with 2 double beds, and happy that they offered free breakfast and parking. There were parking spots right be the entrance when we arrived. The check in process was quick and our room was on floor 1 which was one floor above the ground floor. The two elevators were quick to arrive when we needed them. The room was comfortable and there was a mini fridge, and coffee maker. The bathroom was a bit small as there wasn't an counter space for my toiletry bag. With 4 people staying in the room, we requested more coffee pods and cups and they said they weren't sure if they could bring up more cups, but they did bring mugs which we appreciated. We would have been fine with paper cups. There was a night table in between the beds, but I wish there were one on the other side to leave my glasses and phone. I did charge my phone on the desk. The morning breakfast was great. There was many kids of tea, coffee urns, and a machine with various drinks. The night before I saw a woman getting a drink from the machine so I made myself a hot chocolate to take on our walk. For breakfast, there was fruit salad, eggs, bacon, potatoes, oatmeal, hard boiled eggs, various baked goods, and a waffle maker with strawberry sauce. We enjoyed a hearty meal before our day's activities. One area in the seating also had games if people wanted something to do in the hotel. The main floor had a couple of vending machines and our floor had an ice machine. The location was great to easily walk to shops and restaurants. read more

We were here for three nights, but the air conditioning only worked for about an hour on the first day. A very friendly and helpful hotel maintenance man informed us that they have new units on order and provided us with a fan to use during our stay. Safe is pretty small. A typical notebook computer will not fit. Large tablet barely fits, but not if it's in an Otter Box. A surprising amount of street noise on the north side of the building. Loud vehicles or inconsiderate people talking loudly in the parking lot at late hours seem to be amplified by the geometry of the room's balcony. No noise from adjacent rooms, which we appreciated. We were also next to the ice machine and didn't hear anything. There were plenty of towels, but it would have been nice to have more hooks or towel bars to hang towels we intended to reuse. I don't know what the sheets were made of, but not soft cotton. They were white, but crinkled when moved even a little bit. Maybe some kind of paper? Seriously, these sheets were noisy. The slightest movement will make a crinkly noise. Very weird and annoying. Breakfast was acceptable. Eggs probably reconstituted. Hash browns very good. Muffins probably from Costco, but were fine. They would alternate sausages and bacon each day. Just OK. To toast a bagel, you need to run the halves though the toaster machine at least twice. Even then it's probably going to be chewy instead of crunchy. Be sure to get a new plate if you go back to the buffet or risk getting scolded by the chief. Upon check-in employee was very thorough to explain everything, including all the charges. Upon check-out, a different employee never cracked a smile, so we were left wondering what was up with her. I would consider staying here again, but would seek confirmation that the air conditioning units are replaced and working. Hopefully they will upgrade to better bed sheets too. read more

We asked if they had water and they directed us to the vending machine around the corner, which was completely empty of water. I'm so disappointed... our reservation is for a one bedroom suite. The room looks nice and clean. It has a kitchenette too and the view is nice! The reason for three stars is the ac in the living room blows cold but for some reason the room doesn't feel cold and the ac in the bedroom ... does... NOT ... work!! We called the front desk and they told us it is broken but there is a fan in the closet. Seriously, for what we paid for the room, if I kne.. I would have booked someplace else. BUT I have to say that the hotels location is conveniently located close to downtown and the waterfront. We were able to walk from the hotel to downtown with ease. I booked The Embassy Inn through Booking.com because The Embassy Inn is one of a few hotels in Victoria which comes with breakfast and I love breakfast buffet. The Embassy Inn is located in downtown and it is super convenient. The bus stops are close by and I could walk to most of major sightseeing spots. Breakfast was good and staff are dependable and helpful. I am sure I will come back to stay The Embassy Inn next time when I come to Victoria. read more

The Embassy Inn is in a fabulous location near the waterfront, the Black Ball Ferry, the Parliament building, the Royal BC Museum, and walking distance to many restaurants. All the staff we interacted with were friendly, courteous, and helpful. The rooms were clean, comfortable and not confining. There is adequate free parking and wifi. The breakfast has plenty of offerings, and the dining room is quite spacious and clean. They require you to clean your hands before entering the dining area, which we appreciated very much. On the Saturday we were there, there was a small bazar next door, with many different items to purchase. I can't think of one thing I would change. read more

If I could give more stars, I would! I was so impressed with the value, location, service, housekeeping... this hotel is a gem! A couple of blocks from the ferry terminal and right next to Beacon Hill Park- the location was spectacular. A fabulous breakfast buffet, complete with waffles, bacon, eggs, hash browns and pastries. Chef Scott was so friendly and helpful- he really takes pride in his restaurant, and it shows! The Front Desk staff was so knowledgeable and gave us phenomenal dinner recommendations. I had to work a little while traveling, and the little desk in the room was perfect for my Zoom calls. The deep bathtub in the room was perfect for a decadent bubble bath after a long day of walking. We had originally booked this hotel with the BC ferries package and because the Google reviews were so high we didn't actually realize that it's rated as a three star hotel (don't let this deter you). Overall it is a bit of an older hotel and they could maybe upgrade the softness of their bed and blankets however their shower was very good and their bathrooms were quite large. They also have free breakfast which an opinion was to our delight. They have fruit, yoghurt, variety of eggs (scrambled/boiled/scrambled with veggies or meat) and protein (ham or sausage) depending on when you come, they also have muffins, waffles, toast and cereal. They have a juice machine, coffee and tea available. The staff are nice and check in and checked out for a breeze. They have underground parking. It is right beside the parliament building which we found very handy and it was quite central. The only downfall I would say is that it is close to where the horses take their carriage route so you can hear their hooves knocking. The hotel itself may be "three stars" but it was a solid 4.4 for us. read more

Of all the hotels in Victoria, this one definitely doesn't stand out, but it's the perfect example of not judging a book by its cover. The Embassy Inn has several Pros which keep me coming back every time I visit Victoria. First, the rooms are clean, comfortable, and quiet. The location is perfect, about a 5 minute walk from tue ferry terminal. The complimentary breakfast is the best of any hotel I've ever been to. There's a decent variety of foods: eggs, bacon, make your own waffles, ripe fresh fruit, pastries, breads (toast, bagels, english muffins), yogurt, and oatmeal. There's also an espresso machine that makes yummy cappuccinos, lattes, and hot chocolate. The only con of this hotel is that the rooms don't have any USB ports for charging devices, which in this day and age makes no sense to me, but just remember to bring charging cubes and you'll be fine. For an incredible value and a comfortable stay in Victoria, you won't be disappointed staying at the Embassy Inn. Highly recommend! read more

What a great place to stay in Victoria. It's in a wonderful location right beside the legislature so we were able to easily walk to downtown Victoria and fisherman's wharf. Embassy Inn offers free parking and continental breakfast. The value for the dollar is very good. Most hotels in the downtown core charge a fee for onsite parking and with covid being active most do not offer breakfast. They even had housekeeping services but you had to be out of your room. We found our room to be a decent size. It was very clean, the bed was comfortable and it was well stocked with toiletries and linens. There was even a Nespresso machine in our room. We were very placed with our stay at Embassy Inn. Staff a friendly and efficient. All covid protocols are in place, rooms are well furnished and clean and the value is very good. While staying at this hotel another guest was throwing cigarettes from their balcony which landed on my vehicle. The hotel refuses to give me the name of the guest, or charge them for the damages. The manager even lied to me saying he has no idea who it was after the front desk had told me they did know who it was. The manager also mentioned that people smoke on the balcony's all the time, even though I signed a form saying I could be charged $350 if I smoked on my balcony. I guess if you are a smoker then this is a good place to stay in that regard. There are so many hotels in this area, I would suggest you choose another one. read more

Stayed here as part of a Blackball Ferry package. Nice hotel, close to everything, good staff, reasonable price...no complaints. A typical Embassy property so consistent, reliable and predictable. Breakfast was nothing short of amazing! They had everything! Coffee in real coffee mugs even! The room was great although not much of a view. Everything worked, of course. If we return again we will likely stay here again especially if Blackball is still running their package deals. If you're wondering (it wasn't clear on the map we had), the Embassy is a short, easy walk from the Blackball ferry terminal and is very close to many of the local attractions sans any road noise. The location of the hotel is not very impressive, although it's located in the city center. It's within a walking distance to the assembly hall and the royal museum. The facility has two sections and one section looks very run down, which I is not being used. The hotel section has been renovated and is pretty new. The rooms are small but nice and smell good. A nice room in an older hotel. For some reason, this hotel is favored by the senior citizen set. It still worked for our family of four - our kids were the youngest people (as young as 17 years old). As expected, this is a really quiet hotel. The breakfast buffet rivaled any Hampton Inn or Fairfield Inn. No problem getting a table and the food was fresh. There is no need to plan and pay expensive tours. You can enjoy the best in this hotel. It was a last minute walking by that we decided to spend the night. Jonah was so kind and helpful with all of our inquires! There is an amazing hot breakfast, they have a pool and it's right in inner harbor! you can walk to see all the historical areas, the visitor center is nearby if you want to book activities, and if you go the other way you can go to fisherman's wharf! This was the most relaxing sleep that me and my family had for a long day of travelling! Just check out the picture! Breakfast diners beware!!! I'm currently staying at the Embassy Inn Victoria and was having a lovely time until yesterday morning. One of the female restaurant staff named Longboo followed behind me while I was choosing my selections. She then proceeded to tell me I took too much food! I told the front desk, however this happened again this morning! So incredibly awkward and rude!! I've stayed at the EI in the past and have never had a problem. Apart from Longboo, the staff are great and the hotel is in a fabulous location. Just know that you'll be closely watched, and followed, at breakfast. Stay away from Longboo!!! read more

Great place to stay if you're in Victoria for a couple of nights. It is across the street from the parliament building and other attractions, there is plenty of parking and breakfast was really good. Location, location, location. You're right where you want to be. Two blocks from the Black Ball Ferry. The Undersea Aquarium is up one block, and one block over is the Legislature building. You can see it as you walk out of the hotel parking lot. Shopping and restaurants are not far. (See my reviews of Blue Fox or Red Fish Blue Fish for places to eat.) Rooms are clean. Service was OK. Breakfast buffet (included with the room) was OK. Toast, muffins, cereal, yogurt, eggs, bacon sausage, yogurt, and choice of coffee, tea or juice to drink. Wish they had more than one choice for fruit. (They only had honeydew, and I tend to avoid it and its cousin, the cantaloupe.) Try not to get a room in their older half (nearer to the street - they bought out an older motel). If your room key is 700 or greater, you're probably in the older half. You could do better, but you're probably gonna pay more for it. read more

This is a perfect moderate priced hotel for Victoria. Clean. Friendly, helpful staff. Close to everything. Quiet. Nice pool. One of the better continental breakfasts I've encountered. Wi-fi everywhere that actually consistently works and has a decently strong signal. What more do you need? I wish their restaurant stayed open longer than it does. Good prices, they could make a killing with room service and/or staying open 'til 10 or so. If you're looking at the annex portion of the building, be aware it's very motel-like and factor that in when comparing price and location, but the main part of the building is great. read more

This review is for the hotel's restaurant . . . . A friend and I came here for lunch only because it was close to his home. Turns out this is an OK place, not a tourist trap . . . We were seated immediately and the waitress was friendly and concerned with getting the order correct, including confirming with the kitchen that they could make the Vegetarian Pizza with a gluten-free crust ($11.95). It was fresh tasting, made with attention to detail on the toppings quality and quantity. The side soup was made in house and surprisingly delicious. My friend enjoyed the Embassy Burger ($12.95) and fries. The burger was a house made patty, and the fries I tasted as nicely textured, evenly dry fried. This restaurant is still looking like it's 1980s inside, but there is a certain comfort to that. For example, this would be a good place to take your parents or grandparents, and it's quiet enough to carry a conversation with a friend. The pricing is average, not a gouge. The menu for lunch is short, but enough variety to interest, mostly comfort foods. read more

Location was wonderful! Close to the harbor and most activities. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. They helped with printing maps, recommending dining locations, even some fun activities to do while in town. Thank you, thank you, thank you for holding our (and other guests) luggage after arrival and before departure - that was so appreciated! One hiccup - they gave us the wrong room, so we didn't have the pull out sofa we were meant to, and they were unable to move us to the proper room because they were booked due to a holiday weekend. They did provide us with a cot mattress (the cot/roll-away bed couldn't be placed in the room #1) there was not enough room for it and #2) they said it would be against fire code). The mattresses are not comfortable in the least, far too hard of a bed. And the shower feels like you are being stoned! I think they just need some new shower heads and that issue would be solved. All in all the location & staff were the best parts of this hotel. read more

The Inn looks pretty Plain Jane, but it's the perfect location and very quiet. I was impressed with the room I shared with my friend. Clean, up-to-date in terms of decor and amenities, and the staff were friendly. The dining area was undergoing renovations during our stay a few weeks ago, so arrangements were made for us to eat breakfast for free at a neighboring restaurant. Honestly, we may have gotten even more value out of those full-on, hot and hearty breakfasts than what their continental breakfasts offer. I don't know for sure, but we thought this was a generous deal. I'd not hesitate to stay here again. read more

In July, my parents were staying here for their 60th anniversary. I arranged for a bottle of champagne to be delivered. The head of hospitality at the Embassy Inn was amazing! She served the champagne beautifully and treated my parents wonderfully! They loved the experience and we will all look to stay at the Embassy Inn again. read more

Very convenient location. We were able to walk to many great places. The room was very clean. Unlike most places I've stayed, the shower seemed to have great water pressure. I'm not sure anyone will recognize me from the beat down my hair received this morning. I loved it! The breakfast in the morning was fantastic. Eggs, sausage, hash browns, waffles, toast, muffins, juices, coffee, tea, yogurt, cereal, etc. Very large dining area so there was plenty of room for seating and I didn't feel in constant competition with others for food and space. I brought my fiancé here to have some fun with here on business. When we got to the room it smelled like mildew and looked like a cheap motel room with furniture that was cheap from the 80's...scratched up and dirty and when you pull out drawers they fall out. I immediately went to the front desk and complained and asked for a new room. They took me to an " upgraded room" which had the same small and same crappy bed.. I mean it was the type of bed where you can feel the springs in your back...really. I was very unhappy so they moved me to another room that had a kitchenette.... Same crappy beds.... But I had to take it as it " was their last room". On our next to last am they call us at night saying that we have to check out of that room and check into a new room... I was a bit upset because now for the second time I had to pack up all of my stuff and move... I called them back that night and was concerned I bought 50$ in salmon and food to cook as a pre mothers day meal...they told me that the room had a kitchenette and it would be no problems. So I packed up and moved all my luggage and the food in the fridge to the new room. Well after a long day I come back to the room and lay out all of my food....but there was no pans or pots... I called the front desk and they told me that this room was not allowed to use the stove at all because the fan is broken. I told them that my fiance and i have not eaten at all... He says that he upgraded me and the range not working is irrelevant because my original room didn't have a stove...I told him that this should have been told to me when they moved me into this room as we did say we had food to cook. He argued with me very rudely and said that they would do oohing to help me... Then he says if you don't like it you can check out right now.. I t was 945 at night....omg... What is going on! I advised him that I travel a lot and this was a surprise that this hotel would not help me....HE SAYS "WELL IF YOU TRAVEL ALOT THEN YOU SHOULD HAVE READ THE REVIEWS ON OUR HOTEL before you booked. The duty manager I spoke to was Travis . This is the whole reason why at 1030 at night I am writing this review. My fiancé and me are going hungry and I have 50$+ in food that I have to leave here that is going to go bad. This is the worst experience that I have ever had. I should have stayed in the days inn. From the moment I walked into this inn, the lovely and thoughtful staff did everything they could to make me feel at home. This place is the perfect balance--friendly, yet respectful of privacy. The rooms and hotel are clean as can be, with every amenity I can imagine someone needing at a hotel, and much, much more. The fridges have freezers and there's a/c in the rooms, which is not easy to find in Victoria, but definitely a must-have in the summer. There are also plentiful balconies with sliding glass doors. Free parking is available, which many hotels in downtown Victoria don't provide (and parking downtown is often about $14.50/day). The location couldn't be any better--right next to Parliament, and so close to the ocean that you can hear and see the seagulls. Step outside any of the lobby doors and you'll be right on Government Street, then walk past the Government Building and you've arrived at the BC Museum and Thunderbird Park. The rooms are spacious, and there's even an occasional "movie night" with popcorn in the lobby for guests. There is a pool, spa, and complimentary hot breakfast, where you can see the side of Parliament from the lobby while you dine. But the best part of coming here so far has been how everyone in the staff, from reception desk to manager, have made me feel welcome, cared about, and respected. I was happy just being in the comfortable and relaxing lobby, and I was surprised that the rooms were great, too. I've been to so many hotels in Victoria at this point that I braced myself before I went into the room, not knowing what to expect, and I couldn't have been more pleased. While the rooms are up-to-date and in excellent condition, there is also a stylish vintage touch of replica '60s accents in some of the décor, which gives the rooms a subtle yet delightful hipster vibe. The Embassy Inn is a special place that can be appreciated by someone of any age, and the integrity and graciousness of the people who work here transcends both age and time. For everything you get from the experience, this wonderful find is a local treasure, and probably the best deal in town when it comes to Victoria hotels. Book it! read more

Stayed for 5 days while my partner performed in Victoria's busking festival and we couldn't have been more happy! The suite had all the amenities to make our stay comfortable and the staff friendly and eager to help. Breakfast is superb and location couldn't be any better.
